not quite sure why he's hating on the car, for me the speakers are awesome. They have a crap ton of bass and perfect and clear clarity, not sure why he is having a hard time with his knees touching the steering wheel, I'm over 6'3 with long ass legs, and my brother is 6'4 and I have longer legs then him and I don't have any issues. The handling is great, and even other people had driven my car and thought it was a very fun car to drive....
@@drtanlogic The Sedan version was one bad boy! It was even the one car where the gas meter was in bars. I also loved how at night the radio/aux screen was 80's PC yellow-green. I had it from my bonus mother from Sept '19 when she got a new auto ( a new Corolla ) until last March when someone crashed my parked car ( I was not in it. I was inside my home ). I miss my little buddy, but it is alright now. Just now own a '15 Camry SE. My late bonus mother had that 10 year-old Yaris ( was 10 when given to me ) and it felt like it was brand new. I wanted to keep it forever.
I agree the stereo kicks ass. How can you trust anything after the first 32 seconds of this review? This guy and company must be living on another planet. It's my little sports car. 105 hp baby.
I went from a 2007 Camry to a 2009 Yaris Sport Sedan and I absolutely love my car! Way better gas millage, fun to drive, very light car. I can plug in my Ipod or use the Aux for my mini ipod. I am 5'11" and I fit comfortably in this car. The only thing that I would enjoy is a GPS system which I have seen that you can purchase for about $450. I am a very happy Yaris owner!!!
I actually wanted a Corolla but being 6'5" I barely fit in it. Suprisingly the 2008 Sedan model Yaris has actually more leg room than the Corolla so I fit in it just fine (With the seat all the way back) and the wheel can angle up much higher but I keep it low. It doesn't bother me. The base model came standard with A/C and a LOUD stereo. I got the 5 speed stick and get about 40 mpg. More on the highway (I coast down hills). Got it for $14,200. No problems yet.
My 2009 Yaris Sedan came with a CD player and radio player... speakers were pretty good but it has a port for attaching ipods, phones or whatever has a basic 3.5ml cord, plugin and bam, you got a personal radio. Best car I have ever driven and still driving. No power windows or door locks, pretty basic car but meets the needs with its maneuverability on the highway. This thing can fit anywhere in a crowded parking lot too.
Exactly like my 09 silver sedan. Radio did suck. I loved the easy driving, using a 5 speed manual. I wiped-out the clutch plates in 10K miles, at 43K, traded it for a Corolla. It's fun, but it ain't no Tercel. I had the three of those, and the clutch is bulletproof.

Is this guy serious? I have a yaris, it is so loyal to me, I've pushed it n pushed it & it won't give up! I need the car to get me where I'm going, good sounding music is light!!!! This video hurts me I love my car!!!!
The center I.P. makes sense for an economy car destined for different markets. swapping LHD for RHD is less costly. This is the kind of "cost cutting" I'm OK with.
I watched this review something like 10 years ago. He starts off by saying the stereo sounds like "living hell, awful!". I remembered what he said and I came back after all these years to say BULLSHIT!!!! The stereo sounds incredible for what it is. I would love for someone to explain to me why this stock stereo sounds so good. The speaker magnets are tiny and the cones are cardboard BUT you'd never know it, It handles sub-bass like a champ. My theory is the car was built to reduce road noise and that sound deadening has really helped the tightness of the sound system. People seem to be fooled by audio, viewing speaker sizes and magnet sizes. Bigger means better, louder means better. That's just not the case. If you are fortunate to get one of these cars with an untouched stereo system enjoy it! It's still the best car I've ever owned and I'm still driving it today. Oh and by the way this wasn't the only review of the 09 Yaris where they mentioned how bad the stereo system was. Again BULLSHIT!!
Well, I'm here just to let you know that this car is pretty common in Indonesia, especially for taxis. For the handling, i can't say more because I've never drive this car before (as i prefer driving my '10 Hyundai Accent, lol). Most of the people here drives manual (in fact that my mother, my father, and my auntie can't even drive an automatic for sure, which is funny), so for the speed it's not one kind of an issue here (this car should give you much much better power with it). For overall passenger comfort, it's pretty decent for a regular taxi here. I should've said that this car is not a bad car. It really depends on what's your purpose of buying this car. EDIT: I'm really surprised and proud to know that this car does even exists and roams in the lands of America.
I rented one of these things for a week from the Tulsa airport on a recent business trip. I go along with this guy on every point, I cannot find much good to say about it, at all. This car is a prime example of you get what you pay for, barely. Honestly, when I got into it, my very first inclination was to go ask for another car, but I thought what the heck, lets give it a go and see. Huge mistake. Was stuck with it for whole week, with a 4 freeway drive to boot. Hated this thing!
my brother have this yaris 2012(vios 2012) model.. and it comes with many features like usb(ipod or pendrive or etc) and the bass of the car is good altough the suspension is pretty bumpy.. but the car is excellent for people who want to buy nice quite cheap car.. P.S this car has many spareparts and modded parts like led lamps and lips and others.. i quite love about this car because its pretty roomy and its wonderful car
The Yaris sedan is a nice looking car. But they should just make the sedan version and get rid of the ugly hatchback. Too many entry-level cars are boring, homely hatchbacks. Toyota should make the Yaris sedan with an optional two-door and then move the speedometer to the left- in front of the steering wheel. Toyota says that a center-mounted speedometer is cutting edge. Well if it's so cutting edge, why aren't they doing the same for the Corolla, Camry, and Avalon?
not to offend anyone but i agree the dude, absolutely hate the yaris; drove my cousin's for a week would never buy one myself... driving quality not good, audio not THAT bad, and personally just not liking its design. what i thought when driving the yaris was "come on! toyota can do better within the price range"
Seemed like a pretty good review. Most car reviews suck - neutral and uninformative, delivered by boring bastards who are afraid to piss off the car manufactures that give them the test vehicles they use to earn a living.
I love the outside of the Yaris but the inside it´s so simple... I like minimal thinks but that´s just sad compare to a mazda 2 or 3.... I want to buy one but the inside doesnt convice me at all....
the review is spot on with the radio aspect, kinda stinks though that you have to shell out $70-90 for a replacement bezel to cover the air vents above the aftermarket that would cost you starting at $70 for a base receiver and $15 for the install kit, making your total replacement of the radio and aux jack $200+. A small price to pay if your a daily driver like me who is 6'3" in this clown car metal can that gets 400miles on a tank in the summer.
Slow no muscle , they should of added a turbo. When I have the A.C. on I have to turn it off to get a little muscle . I told it to a friend of mine he laughed his ass off.
My grandma has this exact same car just In a manual and god do I hate it and so does she, I’m surprised he didn’t say worst things about it, I’ve never driven a car with worst handling and power i don’t understand how some people daily drive it, i went to a car dealership to get it looked over and regular service, while I was waiting I went to the show room and started a conversation with a salesman this guy sells these cars for a living and in his words he said it was the most vanilla car he had ever driven, but let’s be honest if you buy a Toyota you hate driving, these are also one of the most unreliable cars my grandmother has ever owned, it has 137K miles on it and the head gasket blew and the engine had to be rebuilt, I’m also pretty sure the car is made from tinfoil, be fore the Yaris my grandma had a 02 Saturn vue with 300K miles easily the most reliable car she has ever owned, she was the original owner and never skipped out on service the thing ran forever, this Yaris has been the biggest financial disaster she has ever had, hell I had a 2000 Saturn SL2 got in a car crash at 60mph on the highway, guy in front of me slammed on his breaks there was black ice so I couldn’t do anything, I slammed into the back of him my two front airbags went off but the car started right up and i was completely fine I walked away with no injuries got back in the car and was on my way, the car had 289K miles on it I managed to drive to car for 5 years after the crash when the engine finally went out and in the end it had around 450K miles. All said and done I will never ever have anyone in my family buy a Yaris or a Toyota for that matter.
