We rented a Toyota Yaris when we were down in Panama. It handled muddy country roads, tight city streets, and mountain climbs with ease. What a fun little car!

I've got this car, love it, perfect in every way and it really moves. I love the instrument panel, the handling is FAR Superior to the GM cars I used to drive. Fabulous car for the money. Great winter car too - never gets stuck in terrible Canadian winters. Holds its own on the highway. I'd never buy a US car again, love my Toyota.

I call my yaris Tardis because it's so roomy. The center mounter spedometer is kickass... and so many compartments that you can hide an extra body if you need to ^_^

What I like about the Fit is that the back seats also go up giving you floor to ceiling room behind the front seats. I put my groceries there. And even with the back seats up, there's still decent 'trunk' space behind them. Of course, if you drop them completely, and push the front passenger seat flat, you can fit 9 ft. long poles in like I did this past summer!

I bought my car in 2007 brand new for 12k and i love it. I only spend about 20 bucks a week on gas and when the gas gets low on price i spend about 15 bucks a week. Great commuter car! My old SUV would have to fill up every 2-3 days spending about 40 bucks on gas. So I really do feel like I'm saving the the mileage is great. Sure it's not fancy with leather seats, sunroof, climate control, etc... but you don't need that shit. You don't live in you car! Anyways, totally worth it!

I rented one of these once, and the centre mounted speedometer was really weird at first, but I really like it near the end.

Pretty much every one who owns a Yaris, loves it. Many also find it a lot of fun to drive. The manual trans is really the way to go, as the auto saps too much power. It's lightweight, inexpensive, and accelerates quite quickly (the MT). So, fun to drive, gas-sipping, and really nice looking; what's not to love?

The attention I get driving my near new 73 240Z around town is beyond anyone's imagination. My open top MGB roadster that shows what motoring is all about just said the same. Now my dream car is a new Yaris. Believe it or not! For those that want trouble free motoring and the purpose of going from A to B, that's all one need.

This car is not made for basketball players, This the wrong person for the review I rented the 4 door sedan and it was amazing how it saved me gas, if you drive it easy not hard, but you will burn gas fast if you drive it like a car and that any car you drive, I tried that too. it's roomy and fun to drive.ive had it up to 80mph crusing speed. It's also fairly quite. Only engine get loud when I wanted to take off hard but if you go easy on the gas it goes quietly. Hope this helps anybody

The Yaris is an awesome little car. The manual transmission version is really quite peppy. (I have a 0-110 mph video of mine uploaded here) With some good wheels, springs and a rear sway bar, it handles great. Quite a few Yaris' in auto cross...

Yes, you can get an alarm on the Yaris. Unfortunately, the only way you could get it from 07-09's was to get the S package. But the keyfob does have the panic feature.

After one week with the yaris, no complaints, good from A to B good in traffic jams, adequate power for city driving. It's quite well built too, provided you do not deliberately tear things apart. If you are a responsible driver, meaning keep to the speed limits, do not squeeze yourself form one lane to another, this car will last for ages. If you have to floor the accelerator all the time get another car!

Another advantage that the Yaris has over the Fit, Versa, etc....basic routine maintanence is so easy to do on this car. For example, it is so easy to change your own oil on the Yaris. The Fit and the Versa may give you more room, but take a look at the placement of the oil plug and filter....You can't change your own oil. This is why I chose a Yaris over the other options (Fit, Versa), because I wanted to do my own basic routine maintenance.

The Yaris is an excellent commuter car. I recently got one in order to go to work, and it's a great, reliable little car that's fun to drive even in traffic. You don't need a full-sized sedan or an SUV to go to your job. The Yaris I think wouldn't be an ideal car to take the family on a long roadtrip, because it's so small (and you know how kids fight with each other!). But if all you need is a car to go to work and make runs to the grocery store, it's great transportation at a great price.

This guy is mistaken about not being sporty...the five speed MOVES and it's fun as hell to drive. You will be pleasantly surprised tooling around in this Toyota Yaris. I live in San Francisco and it will charge up any hill this town can deliver. If you have cruise control, it doesn't matter about the center speedometer. The 1.5 Liter engine is perfectly tuned, what you would expect from Toyota. The sedan is a foot longer than the hatchback and gives you a lot more room for passengers. The rear seats fold down so the cargo capacity is great.

We just bought a 2009 Toyota Yaris 5 door polar white for $16,350 or 13,350 with the cash for clunkers program Its got everything except for an iPOD intergration that you can get on the hatchback and a tach. Its REALLY roomy and REALLY REALLY REALLY good on gas. We are getting 57 MPG on the highway with an AUTOMATIC

I'm surprised you didn't mention anything about how noisy the Yaris is. My wife and I test-drove one a few months ago and the noise turned us off right away. It was especially bad on the highway, because it didn't seem to have a 5th gear, but stayed in 4th. Then just last week some out-of-town friends turned up with a new Yaris they'd rented, and took us for a ride---and again, the noise. If you buy a Yaris, you'll probably want to buy some earplugs too.

Its funny how the site says that you can pick up a Yaris for 12,000 dollars But at our dealer, the cheapest you can find is $15,665 and thats the sedan with crank windows and manual locks. And the $16,500 5 door sedan is loaded with power everything

i just rented a new 2009 Yaris H.B...because it was the most less expensive car to rent at Hertz. I must say, this car is very convenient....it has just enough trunk space....it's also very fuel efficient, and I find parking and parallel parking super easy on this. Turning radius is also great. Great bassy stereo. High seats! But at the end of the day, I seem to avoid having coworkers see me getting into the Yaris, as I know it is a seemingly castrating car for men. =(
@timdavies90
@timdavies90 15 лет назад
Very true, it always angers me on car programs how they only ever talk about fast cars, and when they do talk about normal cars, they always focus on speed, as if anyone cares that one car can get from 0-60 in .5 seconds quicker than the other. For me, the Yaris is the best small car, the best saloon is a Ford Mondeo, and if I was going to get something a bit mroe sporty, it'd be a Subaru Impreza, just because they're fairly cheap and I love them =p

Yes. The Prius and the Yaris are very fuel light cars because they removed a lot of the Heavy insulation included in most US cars. Add that insulation back and you have another heavy gas sucking car.

Nice car. Feels good to drive. I think yaris wins the race from honda fit and chevy aveo due to its features and a sporty look! Regarding center dash thing, i love it ! All other cars show the old style meter behind the wheel but this has got something unique. About price thing, if you buy basic package then its very cheap but the fully loaded(power) pack is a bit expensive but worthy!!

Believe or not....for less price: Hyundai Accent (more powerful engine, more safety equipment, more confortable, better road performance). You can also think on a Versa Sedan, or SX4 Sedan, Fit...you see, there are other options with better BANG FOR THE BUCK.

My responce in my heart is "Fxxx" Now after so many yrs, his remarks somtimes come up in my head , and my response now is " U'er right mate, sure is!!" Cars can be defined as things to move U from A to B with least cost , troubles hassles, can be used as long as possible etc etc. Yaris did just that! Good choice AVVESOME which colour did U pick?

Here's my experience, exactly 20yrs ago I was driving a 911 2.7, following Porsche club outings with my 4yr old son. In order just to keep the turbos in sight I am doing 120km+ while they are200+, suddenly a large patch of water appeared in front and I did a pigeon turn and end up 6" in front of the curb. Since then I sold the 911 as I do not want my son to meet god earlier than iI expect. I then change to a 2nd gen Mit Spacewagon..... ctn in next paragraph.

That's my mun's (80+) car. Reason: 1.. If you are a responsible driver who cruse at legal speed 2.If you are after a car that can do shopping while crusing on highway at 110km/hr happily 3.If you want a lesser chance to call a toll truck 4. I hv now five cars and I take the public transport to wk daily. I dr my cars 6am daily purely for fun. @raykrislianggi I would reccomend anyone making a decision, to first drive both, with and without the amont of people you plan to ride in the vehicle on both a daily basis and frequent occasion, while making sure to note not only the obvious, such as handling etc. but its LOW throttle power. How well it picks up speed in stop and go traffic, along with how often you need to downshift for steep inclines and hills on the highway.

Yeah but American car company's have been around a lot longer. Take the Ford F-series for example. Ford sold over 25 million trucks, out of 25 million how many have had major recalls? Not many. The Yaris has not been around nearly as long or has Toyota sold anywhere near as many Yaris's. When Toyota is over a 100 years old they may have more recalls than the big 3. Only time will tell.
