I loved when Bridget Sloan said "we're like one big happy family" and Nastia said "as it should be!" cute. Nastia was being super motivational and caring to everyone.
I hate how dramatic the nbc squad was 2009 it makes me wanna take a nap for a few years, Ivana hardly wobbled on beam and Tim and Elfi were acting like she just lost a shot at London 2012 FDHEWBVHBVEO
I mean have seen others that confident but thats the stuff of the greatests of all time .shawn nastia simone aly all worked beam with that type of confiedence
Her contribute to that silver medal was a lot more then that 1 vault. Remember she competed on all 4 events in qualifications. Yes she only did vault in Team finals but she did a lot in qualifications.
@@extra_ice_girl what do you expect from people who were INJURED?! They at least got to do one event, but injuries kept them from doing more unfortunately.
I always loved jana's gymnastics and it really sucks that she faded from being seen as a top contender when she was so consistent and strong - definitely feel as though she should have been on the beijing team in 08
It's a shame that Rebecca never reached all that potential, I think all the pressure got to her and she just wasn't able to handle it like Carly and Nastia. Now w Valeri taking over as NTC I think were going to see a new ERA in the USA's dynasty and I'm very, very excited to see where he takes our girls
I honestly think Rebecca was just overtrained and burned out. Her injury happened because she couldn't throw what she was trying to do safely. Katelyn Ohashi was the same way. Both were pushed too hard into injuries and burned out.
How sad it is to read your enthusiasm about US gymnastics with Valeri Liukin. I felt the same way but now he's with Brasil... A lot of coaches have left. I wonder how that will affect our program.

And yet he was jumping all over Aliya Mustafina at the 2012 Olympics and calling her a diva when she sidestepped her coach and made a small "go away/leave me alone" motion with her hand after that bad balance beam routine. Geez, hypocritical much, Tim?
Star Tetrahedron It's all about creating drama for ratings. Tim Daggett et al. have plenty of respect for Mustafina. Al Trautwig knows what his role is: To ask questions he already knows the answers to so that laypeople can better understand what's going on.... and to create drama in order to boost ratings.
Absolutely. Commentators are part of the business; they know their roles. Tim even talks about how what he says when working as a commentator differs from what he says when he is watching gymnastics for fun.
Thank you! It annoys me every time Tim does that and he only does that to gymnasts he's not as fond of because he was quiet when nastia missed handstands at the Olympics smh(and no hate to her, she's one of my favs. Just pointing out Tim's bias)
...and a drink she got! Valeri Liukin actually attempted to hand a bottle of water to Sloan. I suspect his attempt at helping with the drink -- as well as the congratulatory hug after she won the national championship -- were motivated by trying to improve his public imagine, as there are enough rumors going around that he can be pretty darn nasty to any gymnasts who beats his WOGA girls who he feels deserve the wins. Liukin's body language is very telling. FYI, I am definitely a Valeri/Nastia/WOGA fan.
bridget, Mackenzie and kytra for florida... sam for ucla... Ivana for a college (Can't remember) Rebecca is the only top competitor from the event who isn't in college gymnastics, probably because of her knee.
So, I have absolutely zero evidence to back this up but, I have the sneaking suspicion that Ivana Hong's parents were probably a nightmare for her coaches. If I had to guess I would say that from all of the gym changes she made over the years and how they openly criticized the coaching from the gyms after they left, I would bet that they hurt her career more than they helped. She also seemed like she had a slight attitude problem.... Like it was never her fault when something went wrong. She was a super talent though. I had kids that I coached in the past like that. If the parents had just stepped out of the way, the kids could actually listen to the coaches and have a great career. Just a hunch. I could be totally wrong! Who knows!?!?
Seeing as how Ivana went to 2007 Worlds and got gold in the team and went to 2009 Worlds and got a bronze in balance beam final. She was also an alternate to the Olympic team in 2008. So I wouldn't say her career wasn't hurt that bad
I'm pretty sure Al Fong basically bullied/verbally abused her, so that definitely wasn't her/her parents fault. idk if there were other situations before or after that that would back this up though.
Rebecca Bross could’ve been IT...She just never could perform when it was most important. She made mistakes at most of her big meets...So disappointing! I loved her.
Nastia is soooooo annoying during this entire broadcast raaaaa. It's like if she check where is the camera, who will the girl broadcasted, I have to stand next to her like if I'm helping... 😧
I agree in some ways, that you should continue to express the same beliefs you have with consistency, but I think it's a little much to expect someone to remember everything they have ever said on TV, as this was in 09' so I don't think that was hypocrisy. Also, there's a bit of a difference between not saying anything and listening to your coach, as opposed to shaking your coach off with visible gestures and stalking away, not that I am judging Aliya Mustafina, I totally understand.
The women in the black tank top at 0.37.25 right to the right of Rebecca bross in the crowd with the blonde hair, isn't that the head coach of the Fl Gators Gymnastics Team? :) as soon as I saw her she looked so familer...lol
+tmwalkerm Alicia and Chellsie are actually older than Nastia, so while she wasn't the oldest, Nastia certainly was someone the young Bridget would have looked up to!
Why? She was good friends with both Rebecca and Ivana so she was just helping them out. Especially after Rebecca had the issue on bars, I thought it was sweet
