Welcome back to another episode of 'Customs and Restorations with Vick'! This week, the one and only Vick Almighty’s going to show you how to restore the Air Jordan ‘Cool Grey’ 11 - the 2010 release!
If you’ve been here before, you know where Vick started - those yellow soles! The reason Vick opted to start with the soles is because it's the dirtiest part of the shoe, and applying Sole Revive can get messy. The last thing you want to do is put your dirty hands all over the uppers you just cleaned!
Before applying Sole Revive, it’s important to get the soles as clean as possible. Any dirt or grime on the sole can prevent the product from working, so Vick broke out the 4 ounce bottle of solution and the stiff bristle brush that comes in the RESHOEVN8R Essential Kit, and got to scrubbing! Once clean, Vick taped up the grey traction pads on the sole to prevent Sole Revive from seeping on and fading the color.
Time for that secret sauce! Vick then applied a thin event coat of Sole Revive across the bottom of the sneaker and wrapped it in Saran Wrap before putting it in his indoor setup - The Vick 2000! Vick’s setup consists of three 1500 watt UV grow lights and a built in fan. After leaving the kicks in the indoor setup for 5 straight days, applying Sole Revive twice a day, the soles were back to icy!
Now that the soles were nearly back to deadstock, it was time for some bubbles! Using the the soft bristle brush, Mr. Almighty gave the suede and patent leather upper a thorough cleaning. Luckily, patent leather on these 11’s were in great shape and contained no scratches. After a pass on the midsole using the medium bristle brush, Vick cleans out the sockliner using a lint shaver, and shows us how to remove the creases in the heel using an iron and steam iron. To wrap up this restoration, Vick sprayed some RESHOEVN8R Mink Oil on a mini-buffer and gave the patent leather a quick massage to bring back the shine!
