How To Clean Canvas & Suede Off-White Dunks
In today's episode of Shoe Care Academy cleaning tutorials, Jonny tackles the task of cleaning two pairs of Off-White Dunks. The leather lot 10 and the suede lot 13. The kits used in today's video are the signature kit, essential kit, and dry suede kit! Jonny starts off the cleaning using the soft brush to break down all the heavy dirt. Moving onto the midsole, he used the medium brush to get a deep scrub, he then finished off the outsole using the stiff brush. The lot 10s had to go into the washer to get a deeper clean in the canvas material and flush out the dirt. The lot 13s were feeling a little crunchy so the material needed to be reset using our brass brush. Using the brass brush, Jonny brought the material back to its soft texture! Definitely think with his passing, there’s a mixture of people wanting to buy now before prices keep increasing alongside with the people taking advantage of the resell price surge. I always wanted the Jordan 5 Muslin for a personal pair, but the moment the news broke, I purchased it immediately cause I didn’t want to spend 2x the amount later. At the end of the day, a man lost his life and the shoes and products he released while alive will never be the same without his genius. So at the end of the day whether you want to cop for personal or for resell, it really doesn’t matter who’s right or who’s wrong.

Same here, the moment I heard the news I had to grab myself a pair of the Lot Dunks, picked up lot 23 for personal and immediately threw on sole protectors and got a shoe care kit to keep these looking new while still enjoying them and wearing them. Virgil has impacted my life in so many ways, and as corny as it sounds, definitely helped shape the person I've become today. I wish I could have been able to afford the 5's too but I couldn't be any happier than I am with the dunks.

Great video! I recently purchased the dusty olive dunks used. And will be cleaning them when I receive them. Was also wondering I remember seeing some kind of “mink oil” spray or something I saw an older video of someone restoring a suede dunk. Is that product still around or do you all make any suede up keep products? Thanks again

I'm interested to see how you tackle cleaning some Fear of God Raids (black ones). I owned a pair that I put in the wash, but didn't realise that it was suede throughout and I completely ruined the finish as it became ultra smooth. Obviously the suede on these OW dunks is different to the Raids.

Unfortunately when someone passes anything associated with him goes up. And at the end of the day off white sneakers have always had resell value it was just bound to happen. It makes sense considering products won't be produced much longer after someone passes. RIP Virgil!!! YOU CHANGED THE GAME FOR THE BETTER!!!!

I just cleaned mine and either the suede is covering them, and I just have to wait for them to dry, or I scrubbed the lettering away, the ones by the heal of the shoe 😥

Depending on how dirty the shoe is, we only recommend getting suede wet as a very last resort. We offer a Dry Suede Kit that comes with a brush and eraser that can help you maintain suede. We also offer Mink Oil to keep the suede color looking new!

So with the canvas and leather pair would you put them in the washer? They are not as bad as the pairs you cleaned but on the canvas part it has a few black splattered stains especially on the toe box and I’m scared to use a brush and cleaner because I think that it’s just going to stain worser on the canvas material so is there any advice you can give to help me out because I just been letting them sit trying to figure out what route to go.

probably done on purpose, you can see that the outsole is basically brand new and no signs of wear. mightve been used slightly but im pretty confident they dunked them in muddy water to really get them dirty

Normal Cycle, Cold water, leave out to air dry once they are done.

The reason we do not recommend tossing the shoes in the dryer is because of the heat. The heat can melt the glue and cause the shoe to seperate.

i messed up and added some white vinegar/baking soda mixture to the canvas of my OW Lot 03 and the canvas got yellow in some areas. Will putting them in the wash solve this? Or are they done for lol

Anyone ever washed/cleaned dunk SB Hemp? I’ve cleaned mine, or at least tried to, 3 times this week and they look clean…. But as they start to dry brown stains appear all over the shoes. So frustrating. I’ve even tried buying soft water but still the brown marks appear as the shoes dry. Must be dirt deep in the hemp or some chemical reaction 🤷🏼‍♂️

soak up as much water as you can with a towel and then sit there and blow dry them . those stains come up cuz the shoe takes a long time to dry on its own.

suede and leather lots are more desirable imo. i hate the way the canvas/foam on not just these off whites but previous release like the OF aj1s age horribly. I just copped a suede pair for resell tho. it’s unfortunate with the resale shooting up after virgils passing but its the selfish nature of people that capitalize on deaths like these. not much you can do about it as much as it sucks but might as well get whichever OF shoes you want as they will continue to keep rising. I never owned any OF so I went and got a pair as they’ll likely become unaffordable to many so id say bite the bullet if anyones interested. might eventually get another pair but for now the dunks are the best combo of looks + pricing even tho 500-600+ is not cheap i think its the best way to go if you’re looking for a first pair of OF shoes

The suede and leather are definitely a better option then the canvas. As for the resale goes, its going to happen whenver someone this impactful passes away, their items will skyrocket in price and as you stated nothing we can really do to stop it, unfortunately.
