I have the same bike. You carry tire irons....Do you also carry rim protectors, tire lubricant, pump or gas canister, inner tube, wheel removal tools etc etc.? Tire irons are no use without a full setup to take off the tire
Mick Betts I've since sold this bike and now have an Africa Twin. I have always carried a the tools I need to remove and repair a tire, chain, etc. Adds weight but also adds peace of mind.
I sold mine in 2016 and bought an AT. My wife still has hers. 79000 km with no issues. Two sets of steering head bearings, one set wheel bearings, oil changed every fall or 8000km max on full synthetic. No water pump problems. Engine is still smooth and strong although she has scratched up the bike pretty well in all her mishaps.
I've learned a lot since posting this video. That being said everyone has an opinion on how much is too much. I take what I need to be comfortable. I'm way too old to give a crap about anyone else. Haha. I think the time I saw a guy carrying a BBQ on top of his top case may have been a bit over the top though!
Oh, I didn't write my comment to criticize you and to tell you what to do, of course it is everyonce choice to take as much as you want. You should absolutely do what you are comfortable with, like i said, it would be overloaded for me, because i like to travel more minimalistic
