Mr. Slims, I had the same problem in my 2011 SRX. I bought the module and tools on Amazon then I just followed your instructions. The liftgate works perfectly!!!! I am a 5 foot tall, 120 lb woman so my hands are smaller and I didn't have to remove the tub to get to the controller, but THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!!!

First off. Thanks for the video, Slim. My liftgate is one again functional...and I got the module on Ebay for 50-odd dollars. I would note the following. 1. I only had to remove the metal track and the styrofoam to do the repair (you noted you showed the rest for completeness - nice job) 2. My 6 screws came off with a T-30 Torx 3. if you encounter some resistance pulling the styrofoam tub out, *STOP PULLING ON IT*! Mine (2015) had a plastic nut (T40 Torx, I think) screwed on to a threaded stud sticking up through the bottom of the tub and holding it down (at 5:08 in the video, if you look in the middle of the floor after the tub is removed, you can see a black rectangle with a silver threaded stud sticking up out of it - that is what the plastic nut threads onto). Not knowing any better, I kind of tore out the styrofoam under the nut. I don't think the nut really matters, but why do unnecessary damage? 4. My module did not require any programming; I plugged it and it seems to work just fine. I don't know if it matters, but I made sure to get the exact same part number as the one I took out. Good luck!

I love your video on the process which was very helpful. I replaced both pieces because I found water had damaged both. After replacing the parts I clicked on the close button and only heard a connection noise. In the video you didn't show how to program the liftgate closer. At this point what do you recommend I should do. If you could make a video on the programing,it would be very much appreciated...Thank you, one of your subscibers...
Thanks for the video, it was a great help. My latch will open and i can manually open it but it will not open or close. Is this a programming issue or pump?
How do you determine that the module is bad? My 13, 75,000 miles, doesn't have any moisture evidence in the bottom part but it quit lifting. The pull-down solenoid reacts to the power button by the license plate when the gate is open but not when it's closed. Does that mean the module is bad? Everything is dry, the actuator isn't leaking, I didn't look at the pump yet because , well I don't know why. I thought I'd ask you about the module first. Can the module just go out? Hi I have a 2014 SRX - replaced ELECTRIC HYDRAULIC LIFT - gate - the gate did not work before but unlocks the latch but doesn’t lift up of down - what is the problem- does the pump have to bled and how many times - ? Added areashell 41 oil - replaced the other side of lift support are the one that’s not electric- what has to be reset - I can hear the pump working and pumps the oils through lines - reset it by holding button down and waiting for light signal to blink -
Pump should not have to be bled as it is a sealed unit even lines self seal when removed it may need to be programmed through the module with a scan tool or through button reset procedure
I recently bought this truck and now having the same issues but would these problems cause my truck to crank but not start ? After a huge downpour the liftgate issues started followed by a “reduce engine power” came across my dash right before i pulled over and turned it off but it never started back up after i shut it off so what other mechanical issues would keep it from starting ?
My guess is the module is fried and if your drains are clogged it may have led to some blown fuses in the left rear inside trunk area grab a test light hold the ignition button down so car stays powered up and a battery charger start testing fuses and if possible run a scan for codes

Thank you for this video my question is do I need to change both the module and the pump? My lift gate also stopped working because of water leaking from the sunroof both the module and lift gate housing was submerged in water.
I changed out my module but it makes a clicking sound every few minutes and eventually drains my battery. My battery is less than a year old. Should I exchange the battery or is there something else causing this problem? My canopy also tore down. Didn’t open on both sides at the same time. I cut the fabric out so it wasn’t hanging because I didn’t have the $1,250 to have it replaced.
Good video, I already changed the Module of my srx 2010, but it opens completely and immediately closes, it does not stop, only if you pressed the button it stops, there any way to program it?
My tailgate does not open. I boight a moudule and it didmt work. I took to dealership and they said my car doesnt register or know there is a tailgate. Thoughts?
I do not have a video of pump replacement but if you are as far as the module you have your hands on the pump pulling it out is not much more then what you have done so far
Will the motor work even if it was in water? Because my whole back filled with water .... My sunroof drain was clogged.. I drained it and dry it and bought a new module
Remove it from that foam and let air dry check for corrosion it is a toss up on how long it was submerged if it is bad try eBay for a new one to save some money
Yes the leak comes from the sun roof drains being clogged up there are four of them one in each corner I do have a video where I show exactly where they are up top of you have access to a compressor and a blow nozzle you can blow them out also yo may have to drop the a pillar and rear head liner to check attachment from drain to hose
I cleaned out the drains located in the corners of the sunroof track and made sure drain lines were connected I do have a video on where and how to do that project thank u for the comment
Great Video! Question, my liftgate does open and close, issue is that it does not cinch closed after the gate comes down. The upper actusator has been replaced, would this be a module issue? Also does a replacement module need to be programmed by the dealer? Any information appreciated.
I've had a 98% rate of not having to program the modules at the dealers and if you replaced the latch in the lift gate it may be defective if it does not cinch a quick test open it up use a screw driver to close it while open it may just be out of adjustment
Replacing my module soon but the water rusted and damaged the wiring that connects to it. Any info on where to get the correct connectors so I can rewire them?
Try to clean the harness and connector with battery terminal cleaner first if that does not work a junk yard may have a harness you can pull cheap and last resort is a dealer as well would be eBay

Mr Slim, I had the problem too with my 2011 SRX. Followed your instructions. Replaced with new module. Turned car on and tried to get tailgate to lift. It would unlock but not lift. Manually helped it but it would not lower it. Please help.
@@margaretdick92 you may be able to open it turn key to run position but do not start open tailgate hold down button on driver's door until it closes and then hold down again until it opens if that does not work it may need programed at a dealer or shop with a pass through device
@@slimsautomotiverepair8714 Hi, it’s me again. I replaced fuse. It looked good but I replaced it anyway! When I try to open with fob, the motor unlocks but doesn’t lift. And same after I have closed. The motors locks tailgate. Tried to take it to a shop I trust and they are booked clear to Dec 30. How do I program? I bought the module that review’s said they didn’t have to reprogram!
Start with gate in open position sit in driver seat driver door closed push start button without pushing the break so vehicle is on this is considered the run position then depress trunk button and hold for up to 15 seconds release button and repress that should do the trick make sure it is turned to the fully open position as well
No reason to take that whole top off or that trim you can open up that all the way and the styrofoam will pop right out unplug one module plug in the new one done so much extra work there!
Your absolutely correct but it also fills in some gaps from previous videos I try to do a complete comprehensive video for everyone to access what they need comfortably
Open til gate manually all the way open make sure the height knob is turned to all the way open and hold the button down until it actuates usually 5 to 10 sec it may not take at first try a few times if no result a dealer may need to program
In the corners of the sunroof there is a hole in each corner use compressed air or a thin blunt semi flexible rod about 5 ft long and make sure those drains r not clogged
It is also just easier to have your mechanic check them for clogs when you get an oil change if they are a good shop they won't even charge ya for it. Also one of the drain hoses may have detached from the sunroof frame and needs to be reattached with some rtv silicone
