Someone online said: "You may just need to reset the actuators. It's easy to do, and you should try this first. There's a fuse box under the glove box on the passenger's side. With the car OFF, find the fuse for the HVAC system and pull it. Wait at least 2-3 minutes. Put back the fuse. Wait a minute or two, then start the engine. Do NOT touch the AC control panel at all for a few minutes as all the actuators will reset. Then, put the AC in AUTO mode and adjust the temperature, vent selection, etc. and see if it works. If not, you may need to replace the faulty actuator."
Thanks, good Sir. You just saved me over $550 from taking my wife's 2011 Traverse to the dealer for this repair. I found the part on ebay for $17! Took me 3.5 hours to replace it and it works perfectly now! Those torx screws were a PAIN, though. Thanks again!
Really good advice to drill the holes on the left side of the console by the glovebox, but I drilled a 3/4 inch hole. It also helps to get a bendable screwdriver that can hold a Torx bit and a mini torx T20 wrench and it was still hard. It took me 2 hours but successful. I put a plastic tie on each screw after loosened and then tied that to duct tape strand or small fish line so you won’t lose your screws but the hole is most helpful
Mr. Rudd: I have that same vehicle with that same problem. Heat on one side....cold on the other. Had I not discovered your awesome video on how to switch out this actuator, I'd have taken it to a shop or worse yet, a GM dealership and paid through my nose for what appears to be an pretty simple fix. I can't thank you enough for posting this video.
Thank you for your first time video! Awesome job and saved us a ton of money. Husband had it installed in an hour and fifteen minutes. Screws were tedious and bring a lot of patience. It was located right where you said. :) and warm now.
My dude! You saved me a ton of extra time! I only pulled the 2 on the driver's & passenger side. So I dug a little deeper & got to the other one. Also a swivel head 7/64ths Allen wrench made it a lot easier. Props bro!!!
thanks man i got the same problem as you seems like all the other videos is about the blend motor mines stuck on hot summer is coming on so have to change very good straight to the point video
Thanks, very helpful. I changed out the actuator up top for air direction, but the video was very helpful, you did a good job explaining it and which one was which
It would have been nice to clarify which side of the vehicle you were on, passenger or driver plus getting into that area. I assume you went in on the passenger side, as that is the best guess. Just showing the view without showing where it was left some questions for me.
My issue is cold on driver side warm on passenger side. Do you think it's the same actuator or the one that's right up by the throttle above it? And thanks for a great video you're you're you're very clear to listen to
I have a 2011. I have front heat (That takes forever to heat up) , but I have no rear heat at all. Was that the same issue that you were having and this was the fix? I'm asking because I keep reading that there is a different one for the rear heat. Thanks for the video
The rear heat is located behind the passenger side rear wheel. You have to remove 3rd row seat as well as the panelling to get to it. Same type of actuator to change the hot and cold.
I have a 2010 Chevy traverse and i notice the air blows out from the front and bottom vents ( i have it set to front only) and I get no hot air coming out when i have it on heat. So just ordered two, that should fix both problems when replaced?
@@awesomefreddyable did you only need 1? I have only cold air now. But before my heat stopped the directional didn’t work. I would have it on feet and still it would blow upper.
@@473gang9 the rear vents are not controlled up front. There is another panel just above the rear passenger tire. Will have to remove the plastic panel.
Thx for this video gonna make it easier to swap out for my daughter her hubby is deployed and hot air blows out one vent and cold out the other. By chance do you know or remember the part number?
Jamaal Spence No it doesnt damage it I just did this today and bent it back a little bit and the pannel went back perfectly. Its a flexible piece of plastic
is this the same thing? Just called by a different name? A/C EVAPORATOR TEMPERATURE SENSOR. AIR TEMP SENSOR. CABIN AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR. TEMP SENSOR. my husband ran a high end code reader, and this is what came up as the problem
