Thanks for the video. I was having the exact same problem, and replaced the switch and BINGO! $30 dollar fix, and I seriously believe I would have been out a few hundred dollars at the dealer or any other mechanic shop.
Having the same issue on my 2010 Lariat. Ordered the part tonight, hopefully can get it tomorrow and get it installed. Been stuck a few minutes here and there with it in park, very annoying.
Sorry. It was hard to video that. Still a rookie :). I did describe that you turn it clockwise to remove and clockwise to put the new one in and lock it into place.
This video is good to the point, im thinking mine is going out or its something around the shifter that is binding up as another video showed could also be the problem. started doing this on my 2010 Lariat while I was out on lunch today, randomly starts working again...havent checked to see if my brake lights currently work or not, but ill likely go looking for this part as long as it seems that the truck will shift for at least a day or two.
My 2010 F150 started doing this last night. On the shifter, that little rectangular spot on the top right, pops out and you can move the lever to get it out of park, if you are stuck. I’ve ordered a new brake light switch, it’ll be in tomorrow, hopefully that’s my problem.
I have this same intermittent problem with my 2010 Harley Davidson Edition with only 84K. I ordered that part from from Rock Auto it did not fix the problem probabaly becaus it was the wrong part. So I reinstalled the old part and everything started to work. Now the problem is back again. I will be going to the dealer to price this break light switch today. I am also having a problem with noisy front brakes. Had the pads changed and put on Wagner brake pads and after about 5K they are making alot of squealing and squeaky noises. I always thought Wagner brake pads where supposed to be good. But I guess I was wrong. Now I am going to have to have the front brakes replaced again. 😡
Honestly bro I think the problem is the truck. I have the same model and i swear everytime I fix one problem another three come up. Started with this grinding that I couldn't tell where it was coming from, that eventually cost me like 1000 to "fix" which didnt fix it at all. The guy told me that it cpuld be the rear differential, but it went away and now its back and i dont have the money or patience to try and figure out. Then the ac went out, and has been out since last august, but i fixed that today. Then I got a flat, and the truck didnt come with the right damn iron. The door and window seals leak rain and then I found a rust hole on the cab. Then the rear right door got locked from both sides, which as turns out the wiring harness had been torn by the previous owner who fixed it with duct tape. Now this fucking brake pedal switch issue, And the fuckin spark plugs are about to shit out. The shocks are about to fucking snap, the previous owner had MyKey installed and didnt provide a fuckin admin key so i could remove it, and then I hit a fucking deer that tore off my fucking fog light and snapped my fucking bumper. I could go on and on. If anyone happens to see this dont ever buy a harley davidson edition, hell id go as far as to say dont buy a ford. I love ford but my next truck will not be one.
