Thanks for making this video!! The first part I purchased (Dorman 674-940) was manufactured in 2019 and didn't fit when I tried to install. I ended up calling Dorman and they said they had issued a sort of recall and the store should not have sold it to me! Dorman sent me a replacement that dropped in perfectly and I have successfully repaired my 2011 GMC Terrain!
Changed the one on my daughters Malibu 3 years ago and it's still doing fine (Dorman). Be sure and torque the manifold bolts to the head- if not, it will crack again due to uneven tension. I torqued them to 18 lbs. Doesn't matter as much how close to specs you get the torque, as long as it is all the same.
As a mechanic for a GM dealership, trust me when I say these are gravy. Pays 6 hours book time to replace those things! I've yet to run into one that has split in half though, haha. Something I've noticed with these things, as this is a very common issue (insert smart Alec remark about GM engineering and job security here), is the exhaust manifold turns blue where it cracks. This is helpful for when you're chasing an exhaust leak that's not as obvious your two piece exhaust manifold is!
Hi Pat, maybe you could help me out here - My manifold cracked in the exact same spot, on my 2011. I got the same kit: a new manifold, gasket, and I got a new O2 sensor. But I STILL smell exhaust when I stop to idle for too long. The loud noise is gone....(from the manifold being cracked), and I hear nothing now. But I still smell fumes when I stop at a red light. Any Ideas? Also, it seems like it doesn't happen until the vehicle is at "running temp". But once it is,... and I stop at a red light??? With-in 20 seconds my eyes are BURNING...
Great video straight to the point i came here just to see what size the manifold bolts were but this was a great video not too long just right thank u brother getting ready to do my wifes now
You ain't gotta remove the co2 sensor to remove the shield cuh you can that once you removed all the flange bolts and taken out the intake manifold, use a wrench to unbolt the senor. Also be sure to have a big enough extension for better grip.
Did one of these last week. The secondary air injection rail on the manifold was the biggest bitch of all time. CA emissions bullshit all the way here in Maine.
I've read alot about the Dorman brand manifold not fitting without grinding some off the top so it clears the head. Did you have issues with this? Seems they crack often as well, from what I've read.
If you have a all wheel drive it pays 6 hours 2 wheel is 2 hours to remove manifold. If you get a double D soc ket set you can remove all the studs and slide the manifold right off. Doing this you don't have to drop exhaust down. Hope this helps
Thanks ! Helped me a lot ! This job is a bitch if you have hands bigger than a five year old , but it’s doable for the average person . Shop wanted $850 to do the job . Parts ( manifold and new 02 sensor) cost me $150 . Definitely saved me some cash !
Thank you brother. question, where did you find the lock nuts and bolts to replace together with the manifold? Dealer wants 80 dlls for the set. And the typical auto parts stores don't have them.
I purchased a set of 8 at autozone. It came in a pack. I believe It was about 37 dollars. You will need 10. These were the ones that screw into the head . You will need an E8 torx socket to remove them or use jam nuts. I believe they are 8mm x 1.250, .I'm not 100% sure on these though. I would coat the threads with a high temp antiseize. I also appreciate this video. Thanks.
Thank you for sharing Brother, I have a problem with my transmission, the same car 2011 terrain, 2.4, 100,000 milles; It stopped then when I turn off and on, the car will go for one or two minutes then it will stop again, now is saying that the 02 are bad, if I changed them four months ago, any idea? or have you experience something similar?

Yo boss man! I was fixing my exhaust manifold when I noticed one bolt was missing, do you happen to know where they sell the nuts that screw onto there ? PLEASE ID DIE IF I DONT FIND IT ! :(
I being trying to remove that oxygen sensor that's too hard I don't know if you have to remove it while the cars hot but in this case the car does not start let me know
Around 7:23, you mention that the new manifold was made in China and probably wouldn't last too long. Where do you think the OEM manifold was made? 15% of the parts used in GM cars were made in China in that era. That number is likely higher now.
I’d be willing to bet the new manifold is broke already.. ive changed my wife’s 3 times and the one before broke within a oil change. Currently broke. Not changing again
