Just got one. Blue 2012. I have to say, it definitely feels heavier than a sport bike. The engine sounds great and has great power characteristics. The seating position is much more sport bike than I had originally expected. In the end, the bike is like interesting. I’m not sure where it falls. I appreciate the bike for what it is, but it’s confusing to ride. If you want only one bike, then I think this could fit the bill. If you want two bikes, get a sport bike and a touring bike.
It's a pretty sweet bike it could be a little lighter I like the drive shaft for touring and just racking up miles anywhere lot less maintenance than a chain I would like to see Honda continue to develop the Blackbird that was a very very well-engineered motorcycle.
It is a great bike. seventh year for me. If you want the features of a rsv or a cbrr, just pity yourself, since you only had the wrong bike for you. I had the right one for my tastes with a 2010 vfr1200f and will keep it for many more years
Actually ended up getting one. 2012 in Blue. Tuned with a decat exhaust. Amazing machine. Ride with the sport bikes through the canyons and it keeps up great!
I love Honda, been riding one since 1973 but I think Honda missed the mark on styling and I sure don't care for the dual clutch paddle shift set up. No clutch lever and no shifter pedal would take a lot of getting used to. They packed a lot of new technology in this bike that experienced riders might find awkward. I know I would.
It really threw me off the first time I saw it but after a while the design isn't _that_ bad. There's something about it. It's the head light area that seems off. The rest is very nicely detailed. It's a lot like the BMW K. I wish they'd use a V4 in a smaller capacity.

Yeah, the VFR800 is a great-looking bike, but the VFR1200F isn't in the same class. I like that it looks like a BMW. I think it'll be very popular with the older crowd, who want to do some touring but don't want a Goldwing or a Harley. And, being a Honda, it'll be extremely reliable.
Wonderful bike...most of you chatting shit don't even have a bike license and have never ridden a v4 of any kind or this bike...I have and its superb..as for looks.."its ugly?" The mona lisa is the shittest drawing of a woman I have ever seen..still gets attention doesn't it...function over form..I don't need a beautiful toothbrush to clean my teeth and I don't need an "looker" to enjoy any aspect of biking
Honestly, I think it's one of the most beautiful modern bike designs out there, if not the best looking sports tourer on the market. Enjoy it, you lucky bugger... I'll be saving up my pocket money.
I like it, and I think it's a fantastic idea, Although this video, that amounts to nothing more than a commercial, is kinda pointless. Can't wait for a good, honest critiquing of the bike.
@racernate02 LOL smart money would've been to make this engine a 1000 and then spin off a chained RC version (worthy 30, 45, & 51 successor) and a shafted VFR tourer. guess they got caught up with the 1.2L for longterm marketing purposes. like the technology, but honda does seem a bit disconnected from their own history.
i hate mine too,the seat sucks,to heavy,lights suck, ugly i must have been out of my mind getting one.I am going to get the aprilia tuono 2014 its a big difference great sound thanks for the video
The only drawback to this bike is range. I’m a sport touring rider with the emphasis on “sport”. But I do travel hundreds of miles on any given jaunt. I only wish the 4.9 Gal. tank was slightly larger. Still.., not a deal breaker for me.
@blackadder183 I have a 1998 vfr 800 fi. New vfr 1200 looks nice but so expensive. VFR with VTEC is pants and is what made 2002 vfr inferior. No advantage and ruined the power curve .

I have a beautiful 1998 silver vfr 800. Like the look of the vfr1200 but far too expensive for me sadly. Can't believe the chap who says can't have a vfr without vtec....omg vtec is what made the 2002 vfr inferior to my vfr 800fi. The power curve is nothing like a smooth and all for no reason and no benefit.
I would trade my blackbird for this vfr anyday, but here in qc canada they consider it a sport bike, so its license plate is 1300 a year, same for the cbr1000...
I'm with your bother, I would trade my CBR1000F in for this VFR anyday as well. Here in the states it's classified as a sport tourer, and since I'm 50 years of age my registration is dirt cheap.
wierd how this review of product starts with introudcing japan and their industry, I mean they are related but this should be review of specific product
i took this bike out for a test ride,and a triumph sprint 1050 st,and this bike lost in all counts.the triumph 1050 st blow it away in the real world.plus i saved over £3000. it's just not right,sound's shit,triumph 1050 st sounds great..
more companies need a "better" sport touring bike. They all tend to be heavy and can't really flick around much. I say make a 400lb sportbike with an ergonomic of this VFR bike.
OMG that is ugly from the front ... it doesn't have saddle bags ??? ... I thought it was supposed to be the V5 from motogp? This really feels like a paid honda advertisement / spokesman here
What a terrible review... or... was there even a review in there at all? Just sounds like Honda marketing spin to me. And no real opinions offered at all.
Shaft drive, heavy, too many electronics, and not to mention UGLY. As an owner of many previous generation VFRs, I can say undoubtedly that the RC30 and RC45 are turning over in their graves.
and your chiropractor will love taking your money from you..R1 is actually a squids bike, well known fact, how many WSB or BSB titles?...mmmm not that many lol
