Hands down the best bike I've ever owned. The DTC, The riding position, The engine, The technology, The smoothness! A machine ahead of its time by at least a decade. Over 45,000km on it currently since new, 2010 model. Can Honda please bring it back so I can replace mine?!
@@stevetipene3319 my father back then started on a Simson s51, rode some other motorcycles. Then had a cbr1100xx, crashed it, got a cb750, sold it, tested a vfr800 and then bought a 1200f and says its the best thing he's ever ridden.
I just purchased one. 2013 model, 13k km on it, barely broken in! Perfect condition, not a scratch or blemish. I pick it up in a couple of day! So excited!
I recall years ago when the original YZF1000 (ThunderAce across the pond) hit the market I thought., “Man., why couldn’t the VFR have this type of power., this type of braking., this type of handling.” Maybe hard bags and ABS for traveling in inclement weather. Fast forward. The VFR1200F delivers that in spades! Traditionalists complain about the DCT? No problem. They have ‘shift it yourself’ models as well. The weight? It carries it very well (I test drove one) and has anyone SEEN how heavy it’s direct competitor (Sprint GT) is? Haven’t seen many complaints there. Mileage. On that may be the dry bone on contention but I’m not getting any younger and after 150 miles or so I’m usually ready to take a bladder break anyway. LOL! Price? Hey! You want big bore V-4 performance., Honda reliability and cutting edge technology it won’t come at Hyosung pricing. But I can’t complain. Ppl hating on this bike works to my advantage. I’m in the market now. Maybe I can find a slightly used model at a fire sale price!
@aikibiker800 ~40lbs heavier than a VFR800ABS, (though you can't feel it when it's moving) but with shaft drive, longer wheelbase, USD fork, bigger brakes, stronger frame and subframe, bigger back wheel with bigger tire, and an extra 60 or so hp? I think that's a good trade-off. Pretty great bike, don't be so quick to dismiss it.
Have one. Love it. Handles and rides well...CONSIDERING it’s weaknesses. It’s a PIG for weight, acceleration, and SHIFTING. Manual version is not “light shifting”...you have to “focus” and exaggerate force on the lever to ensure it makes it into gear between 5&6 usually. The auto, my brother bought, is “OK”. But “drive mode” is too flaccid and “sport mode” is too sporty. Working the “paddle shifter” is the way to go...unless you are stuck in traffic or on a long haul. For a BIG bike...it “flows” and holds lines & pace nicely through the twisties and on the highways. Neither here nor there now though, I think “sales” explained it to them?
You say the engine is light and compact, but when people talk about adventure motorbikes VFR1200X’s engine, which is essentially the same as VFR1200F’s, is the largest and heaviest among adventure motorbikes’ engines, although VFR1200X isn’t a proper adventure motorbike. Great engine anyway ^_^
Dude i swear i am a honda dude and ive been thinking the same thing. Theres a beautiful 2011 vfr1200f at a local showroom sell for 10k(euros) and only 7000 miles on it plus a full akra. Its been sitting there for over 3yrs while the rest of the bikes have gone and new came. And i never really saw all this yrs any 1200 rolling . Shame cause it looks and moves so cool even for 2018 standards
Have seen...FOUR in the US...since 2012. Add the two I and my brother own...I think you overestimated by FOUR!? 🤣 Not a horrible bike to ride - IF you aren’t looking to set your hair on fire. Wish they’d have done a few things better with it, seems they easily could have. I guess it’s like...a “sporty Harley.”? 🤷🏼♂️
Sooo...Honda...did u finally corrected the mistake u made by restricting the power and torque available on 1st and 2nd Gears on the 2009-2011 Models ? Or are the 2012 Models still flawed by your silly mistake ?
So why is it heavier than the VFR800? I've test ridden this bike and they've missed the mark! Stock seat is a plank. DCT I don't want this - this is not what motorcycle riding is about! Do like the shaft drive, though. I've seen one on the road in my area. -owner and rider of a 2000VFR800fi.
I dont know that is but its no VFR should have built a new 3rd gen say with 1000cc FI gear drive 175 hp and 450 lbs oh no cant do that would out sell the CBR
It´s inferior CBR 1100 XX in all aspects that matters. SOHC was proven inferior DOCH like 40 years ago. Shame on Honda. When will the successor to CBR 1100 XX come?!
