I used to read a book in 90's about fuel consumption at high speed of various sedans in Europe. Mercedes was the only brand that sipped 10L/100km at 180kph while others were doing up to 20L/100km at that speed. They are the best at making engines and drive trains for high terminal speeds.
@@xMaFiaKinGz hmm interesting, I was in a 2014 E Class with that engine and I was so surprised because of the noise, I expected mercedes to be refined because that's what all the reviews tell me. My dad had a 2008 Lexus IS220D, it was the only diesel lexus and I thought that was not very refined but compared to Mercedes I had second thoughts.
@@Sha-Ayo Definitely, It had serious vibration when accelerating. I was actually surprised that it wasn’t smooth. Didn’t feel very Mercedes like. Comparing this to the newer 2.0L engine its day and night difference. The newer 2.0l engines are so smooth.
