Hi Jimmy. Can you tell me the special tools that I can use to take down my transmission pan? I have a 2006 Subaru b9 tribeca and I want to take down the transmission pan. I see this video (your video) that you use some special tools to take down the transmission pan. Thanks.
Hey my friend there's really no special tools that are needed. Unless you get broken bolts it's pretty straightforward. You just need a 10 mil with a ratchet and a 17 mill for the drain plug. You also need plastic prybars and a hammer or mallet to tap those pry bars in to break the seal. Be gentle and take your time. I hope that answers your question if not feel free to elaborate. The filter for this vehicle is located in the driver side of the vehicle at the front. If you pull away the fender wheel you'll be able to see there's a spin-on filter out the front of the vehicle for the transmission😅
I thought the transmission oil filter was located ahead of the driver's front wheel too. However, I just looked on my 2013 Tribeca and there's no filter here. I looked all over and don't see one. The transmission filter might be in this location for only the B9 Tribeca's.
There is a good question. Unfortunately I do not know the answer. I think the best place to look would be on a Subaru form if you don't have the Vin numbers for both applications. If you do have the Vin numbers just call the dealer and they'll be able to tell you based on the VIN

Since both have the same 5EAT transmission AND Tribeca got the Grunty 3.58 final axle gear ratio match w/ it’s bigger 18”(29”)wheels in +-4,300lbs bodyweight while the outback’s 3,500lbs has the High speed final gear ratio of 3.083 on 17”(27”)wheels.
Unfortunately I don't have the answer for you. I'm not 100% sure whether you can vote them up and if the ratios are different I don't think it will work properly.
