Thank you for showing how you remove the filter. Looks like a cap style wrench helps a lot at that location. I measured the filter and ordered an appropriate size. The diameter is smaller than for the oil filter on the engine.

How has the fluid holding up? Everyone I talk to tells me to only use Subaru or Idemitsu ATD. That valvoline is a lot cheaper, so I'm curious to know if it works well.

It is holding up pretty good , This model of Subaru uses SL097 Transmission Fluid

I would stick with the ATF recommend by Subaru. Maybe because those fluids already have the additives that the transmission needs.

You can use Valvoline MaxLife , it works just fine with Subaru because it meets Subaru Transmission fluid Specs

How many quarts did you replace ?

Start off with 4.5 Quarts and then check it . You may need to add 100ML -200ML after that but initially I would say start with 4.5 . I talk about the details of this in the video, please watch it to the end . Thank you
