After replacing balance shaft what has the car preformed like. Same issue waiting to get mine fixed but no skill in this trade so i have to pay someone else to do it
Does engine has some weird noises when balance shaft was seized ? I have same problem with Mk6 GTI, coolant pump has stopped. I am not sure that pump bearing has seized or balance shaft...there is no weird noises, only overheating.
No noise, you can take off the mini belt plastic cover and turn the engine over while watching the belt, if the engine is moving and the belt isn't the shaft is seized.
it is needed, oil comes down from the cylinder head down to the block. If it is not there the shaft will foam the oil, and that is not good. Is meant to run around the shaft without touching it going down all the oil to the pan for oil pump pickup.
