There are 3 things to look at your brake light switch, the abs system( expecially the wires) and your front wheel bearings. I have a jacked 2010 4x4 and that those lights let me know my wheel bearings are about to go. I also had a abs wire get pinched and was grounding out up front. Hope that helps
I heard it can also be the steering position sensor, a mechanic can do an alignment and then relearn the steering position with a scan tool and correct everything. I wish there was a manual way I can’t afford those expensive scan tools
Your Service Stabilitrak error did not illuminate until you had turned your steering wheel At the 1:12 mark. This tells me that it's your steering wheel position sensor. I had performed many tests eliminating everything that wasn't the issue. This SAS (Steering Wheel Angle Sensor) was my problem until I had replaced this part.
I know this is an old video. But if you have this problem check your codes. U0101 is a transmission control module failure. It’s $500-600 to replace and have flashed. Good news is that it’s covered under the Federal Emissions Act for 8 years or 80,000 miles. A lot of dealerships don’t even know this. Hope this helps someone out.
Guys, just disconnect the Negative Battery Cable, clean it with abrasive cloth, reconnect the cable Ensuring that it’s snug and tight, ( removal of the fender firewall brace may be necessary, just four bolts), and you are done. Also you could have a bad battery. GM’s CanBus System requires 12 volts to function properly. The sound of your engine should indicate when your car/ truck is not getting enough voltage.
Hi, I feel your pain. I had the same problem. It all started with a "Low oil pressure" signal that went to a "turn off engine now" message. I did, let the truck cool down and restarted. kept getting same message, checked oil and it was fine. Went to a mechanic who said it was probably fine just an error on the computer but he couldn't get to it right now. Later that week while driving down a highway I heard a clunk sound and started getting an error message "check stabilitrak" followed by "check traction control". Those went to "service stabilitrak and traction control". The truck started running very rough, wheels felt as if they were going to fall off, etc..My husband checked the error codes and it said that we had a misfire on #4. He changed out everything he could, spark plugs, wires, wire housing, etc. No help. It was running so rough we had to have it towed to our mechanic...he had it for over a week and couldn't find the problem. He suggested we take it to a dealer. He felt it was something internal. We had it towed to another mechanic that was recommended by a friend. He found the problem and fixed the truck. Here is what he did that solved our problem: Changed the valve lifter (it was bent in position #4) since he had to go inside the engine he went ahead and replaced all four on that side. As a result of having to open the engine he also had to replace the head gasket, replaced the oil, replaced the anitfreeze, His diagnosis: Intake lifter on #4 cylinder collapsed. Cost: $1534.24. FYI...I drive a 2009 Chevy Avalanche. I hope this information helps all who are having the same or similar problems. Good luck.
Cathy Rose After a ton of research , I figured out that the active fuel management system is causing those lifter problems . I was using a quart of oil a week and fouling plugs left and right . I bought a module from amazon to shut off the AMF and haven't had a problem since . I would consider getting one to save that problem again .
Cathy I went through this same expierence with my Yukon it scared me to death.... One minor difference though; The day after picking my truck up, I pulled out of my neighborhood to go out of town (2 hours away) and the truck started dinging and flashing error codes at me again!! Two of the lifters on the other side had gotten stuck so it had to go back to the mechanic. :( Now......a year after all 8 lifters have been replaced and everything else as well.... the error codes have been coming up more and more as I'm driving or stopped at a stop light. I am seriously ready to scream!!
I really think this is a very rare problem to happen and hopefully the only one that arises in these engines…. You’re lucky this mechanic was able to detect the faulty lifter
I had the same problem with my 07 Tahoe 5.3L, I would drive around for a while and those lights would come on, say service TC and Stabilitrak, then cut power and go into limp mode. The repair was pretty simple I just bought a new Throttle Position Sensor (~$50) and installed it at home and now it's good as new.
Chris Elston please help me I have the same tahoe and when that light come on.While Im driving I hit the gas and the car won't move.I just replace the throttle peal today .Still doing the same helpp
Blackhead Howard Well whenever I would step on the gas pedal it would still move, just very slowly. You might have a different problem than I do... I bought
they likely had to disconnect the ABS sensor at the wheel(s) to install the struts and maybe forgot to plug one or more back in. Should be visible behind wheel in the wheel-well. black connector
I had a similar issue on my 2011 Chevy Silverado where occassionally, when driving, the traction control and stabiltrak lights would come on, and the tachometer would stop working, or sometimes the truck would be hard to start. No code was being thrown at first. I tried a few things but nothing worked. I did some other work to it where i changed the plug and wires, replaced the water pump and thermostat. During that job I disconnected the battery and the issue went away for two weeks then came back and threw a code. Turns out it was the crankshaft position sensor. I replaced that and no issues for the last 5 months. Part was about 50 bucks. Could be different for you, hook up an ob2 scanner and check if any codes then go from there. Hopefully this can help someone.
I'm having the exact same issues, only with my 2012. Tach stopped working and threw a po335 code for crankshaft sensor failure. I pulled the starter then pulled the crankshaft sensor. Still having issues with it.
Mine had the same problem I did the exact same thing and worked now I have the traction control light come on and the exact same time the abs light. Anybody that knows ?
MrBosanacBIH not sure if u got that fixed yet but i just bought the same truck and it is doing the same thing. What i noticed is it comes on as soon as i turn the wheel not when it is rolling. I noticed that yours is doing the same per your video, fyi. I looked it up and it is a sensor on your steering column by your knees. RU-vid it. Have a gooder :)
I have this same problem. Weird thing is, it doesn't come on in the morning, when the day temperature is cooler It does come on in the afternoon, when the day is warmer.
I have same problem right now. Cool mornings no problem. Turns out it is the steering angle sensor. Taking it in to be fixed. Thought it was tire speed sensor. It's not! I can even start when hot out and let it run no problem but if I turn the steering wheel just the slightest it will act up.
I've got that same issue with my 2011 Silverado right now. If temp is under 80 I don't get the traction/stabilitrac warning, but if it's over about 85 it comes on. Going to try replacing the brake switch. What was the fix with yours?
Just recently had the issue while driving on ice and sleet. In addition, Reduced engine power came on and the motor died. A bit unnerving on the interstate with traffic.
On the 2011 Silverado, I have the same issue. It is a sensor that is located in the steering column. There are 5 total, 1 on each tire and the 1 on the steering column. I was quoted $385 from my local Chevy Dealer.
I have a 2013 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab 5.3L. The stabilitrak and traction control lights come on and off with the engine light blinking. Went by the auto store and had them run a diagnostic and it came up 3 misfires on Cylinder 1 and a ABS code that they had no idea what it meant. I replaced the plugs about a year ago and one side was fouled and to other were fine. I've got coils and wire coming to change them out but the ABS code has when wondering. Would like some guidance for this if you have some knowledge. Thanks
0441jab my 08 Silverado did this today, my service stabilizer and service traction control light came on and the truck feels like it is in limp mode. It does not wanna go past 45mph. Did you get yours fixed and what was it.
How's the truck now..? I got the same exact truck & this shit is killing me bro. Need to know what exactly it is, because I don't wanna buy all kinds of parts to replace to where only one needs to be replaced
2009 ! Had a vibration on the engin ! #7 coil ! Traction light came ! 5 minutes later !!!! Checked fuse n changed it !! 2 years ! Never came back on !! GOOD LUCK !
I have the same problem with my 2012 Tahoe have you found a fix? two mechanics new tires 2 alignments and still no one can tell me whats wrong or how to fix it
Hi sir.. ihave toyota avalon 2012.. There are no any lights or symbols in the dashboard board, but suddenly while driving the check engine and trc off lights turn on, and the traction control shows up also but disappears after 5 seconds then come back again , icant drive the car with this situation. So can you help me with this issue... Thanks
I’m having the same issue in my 2011 Chevy Silverado 5.3L. A few months ago when it was extremely cold, the light and warning for traction and stabilitrak didn’t come up until I was curving on the road after taking an exit from the highway and all of a sudden the truck went into ABS mode. It scared the shit out of me and good thing there was no one behind me. After the ABS kicked in, the service traction control and stabilitrak lights came on and traction was turned off so I was able to continue on my way. I have a feeling it may be a speed sensor on the wheels or maybe the steering column but I haven’t had a chance to look at it. Anyone else with similar symptoms while out on the highway?
@carlos Sotelo, any news on the fixing? I literally had the same exact problem with how you described it, it was minus 7 degrees over here and I was heading to work when I curved on the road it turned on those two lights and it didn’t appear after a week or two again. Now every time I turn it on and I’m on the road 15 miles ahead those two lights turn on
Hey Juan. Yes I was able to fix the issue on my truck. I had to replace the steering wheel positioning sensor. This made sense as I started getting the warning as soon as I moved the steering wheel after starting the truck. Hope this helps. Good luck
I thought that I had this licked and now I don't know. Just ordered the Steering Wheel Position Sensor and SLS587 Stoplight Switch. If not, I'll have fun under the dash all cramped up, great times.
Mine is doing the same thing took the bed off to have body work done and noticed the wires for the abs had broke I agree with couch audio check abs wires and wheel bearings
i also have the same problem with my 2011 silverado. dealership told they wanted $100 just to read the codes and diagnose the problem. so any chevy dealership should be able to atleast do that. im still doing my own research online 1st at the moment.
Hey Bro. I have a 2011 Silverado with the same issue, have you had any luck finding a fix? I'm not will to pay the dealer $100 to look at my truck and "might" have a solution. If I knew for a fact they could diagnose the problem I might be willing to pay the $100 bucks though, but it's a big gamble with the dealer and this problem.
I took mine to the shop to replace the rear seal... and wen I was driving back home the traction control and stabilizer came in ... went back to the mecanic... and he told me IS THE MOTOR MOUNTS OR THE TPS, OR THE CATALIC CONVERTER, OR THE COMPUTER YOUR ENGINE IS GOING BAD, BUT U CAN CHANGE THE SPARG PLUGS AND WIRES IF THAT DOESN'T FIX IT, BRING IT BACK AND WE SE HOW MUCH IS GOING TO BE TO FIX IT... I replace the wires, spark plugs and still the same. And I'm not going back with that (mecanic ) she was good and now i got a big headache
that's why I drive old cars NO stupid sensors no nada..think about it ..is all business of course they know u don't want to see nothing on the dash board so they come up with all kinds of stuff to have u spending more.. OLD CARS RULE!!
I have the same problem with mine when my car would sit and idle for a few minutes when the weather with cold. I would have to disconnect my battery to get my truck to run right again. After disconnecting the battery the check engine light would stay on for a little while but it would eventually go out as well
2011 tahoe - replaced with bigger battery cables. Been good since. Did it 6 yrs ago. Factory cables have bad crimp and has a service bulletin from chevy about it.
I was having the same issue with my 13 sierra 1500 , man i hate it it was a misfired cylinder 4 had to change one of the lifter did the whole tune up first they nothing kept doing the same so i changed the deactivation solenoid then last thing had to replaced the oil pump because oil pressure fail after changing the oil pressure sensor , swear i was about to throw this truck in the garbage but finally got it fixed now everything in back to normal ,, it didn’t have nothing to do with the abs system ,, i also changed the valve covers
Any insight is appreciated. I was driving down a heavily washboarded road dog about 50 meh when I simultaneously had ABS, Service Traction control, Service Stabilitrac, Service Trailer Brake Control Module. (factory). I also intermittently have the parking sensors disable from time to time then enable on their own. I had just ordered new tires and when I was dismounting the rear off the truck I noticed the rest brakes were down to about 10% life and fronts were 80% installed new rear pads hoping that would at least fix the ABS light. No broken wheel speed sensors/ wires, nothing, after everything I could think of, I'm still at a loss. Any ideas. 2009 Silverado K2500 HD 6.6L
This can be very dangerous, was driving home today ,on interstate @70 mpg ,the transmission went into low gear twice ,lost power ,door locks up and down, abs light came on , traction control and stabilitrack light on ,
Houston Brown mine was doing the same dies off I watched some RU-vid vids when it does that I shake the negative cable seems ok but it was toast it bought it for 100 dls mine is same truck 07 Tahoe z71
@@camillagreenough2147 try adding another ground cable from the block to the frame ,then check battery cables loose and or corrosion, alternator ground ,then starter cable to starter, then body control modulator ground minesis in the frame under the radiator, also ground cable from fire wall to block ,one problem is heat the bcm is under the dash ,hope this helps mine gave me problems last week ground cable loose and corrosion !!
@@houstonbrown3450 OK cool I will check those out ! Seems like everyone’s had a different solution , or have changed 100 different things and still don’t have a solution 🙈🥲 is yours a flex fuel by chance ? & what type of gas do you use ?
I am having this problem, what’s was the cause of the that light I re did a ground I changed the two abs wheel sensors I cleaned my air system and still the same
Video is old but it could be Wheel Hub bearing beginning to fail. Keep driving like that the wheel bearing will fail brake light will engage and hopefully you stop in time
Actually to help you out everytime you see that message on the GM trucks use a scan tool. I had a similar issue on a Saturn it was giving out a code and I looked it up on RU-vid and I end up figuring out it was low on engine oil. Filll it up at the safe mark. Problem solve. I seen in Camaro when the battery dies because the camaro starnded for days and you jump start it. It might give you also that message. Just simply let the car warm up. Turn it the engine off and start it up. This is my personal experience.
My 08 GMC Sierra started doing the same. I also found that my brake lights stay on because of a faulty brake pedal sensor. Also, I need to replace sway bar links so all of that may be it. Hopefully you got it fixed.
I have a 2011 Silverado and I replaced the break light sensor which went bad and those lights didn't come back on. Hope this helps someone with the same problem
It's not when you start rolling, it's when you turn the steering wheel, I don't know why this causes the light to come on but mine is doing the same thing as well
If your TC/ABS lights are coming on when you turn the steering wheel it's a sensor on the steering column. There is a YT video on how to replace that sensor. It's not very simple though. I have the same lights coming on but not when I turn the wheel. Hope this helps.
Steering Wheel Position Sensor.... I had the same problem and replacing that did the trick on my 07 Yukon Denali. Sensor is about $75 on eBay. But I would get your truck scanned first because I had a bad wheel hub that kept tripping the abs and traction control indicators before the Steering Sensor.
My 11 Silverado TC/ABS lights were coming on with no other symptoms randomly not when I turned the wheel but mainly when I was stopped at a light or something like that. I bought a OEM brake light sensor switch for $10 on Amazon, it took 10 minutes to change (there is a video on YT on how its done) the Service TC/ST lights have not come back on since.
Best thing is but a ford or something before you’ll start hating yourself for not doing it sooner but in this case usually the dealer will remove the code or possibly you can use a obd2 scanner to remove code but most likely it’s gonna come back so best to get it fix
Mine is doing this and flashing "Service 4 Wheel Drive". Is a newer Sliverado too. Im so fed up with it. Thinking about trashing it and getting a Tundra instead. Smh...
I have the same problem i have a 2010 Silverado 1500 LTZ and my lights come on when i hold my back for a period of time then traction control and abs comes on
I started smelling gasoline a week ago. Just today these lights came on and the truck doesn’t idle the same as it did before. I’ll do a follow up after I take it to the shop.
You resolve the problem? I have the same issue also bad aceleration and traction control off i already change the spark plugs whit the wires the injectors and the coil like 7 times and now my mechanical says is a electrical problem
Your comment helped me so much. I just replaced my motor mount and once I turned my truck back on, my Stabilitrak and traction controls kept going off. In the process of removing the motor mount, I had to remove the steering bar for access. I know I hit it once and it spun the wheel and I guess I didn’t connect it right and the steering sensor was the culprit. Just disconnected the rod and spun the wheel back and it seems to be all good now.
Okay so my 2011 chevy avalanche LTZ rear left tire had a nail and so we went to a shop to patch it cuz the stabilizer and break light went on. When they patched it it went off then a week later it's back on again. Just took it in to the same shop and they cleared it and right when I reached home the damn lights came back on. CAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE.
im getting same thing but if im driving on highway crusing at 65-75 MPH and when light comes on itll drop down to 3 gear and stay there if i pull over to a hault it will shift down to 1st gear. no its not my transmission i just got it rebuild by the best shop in town and im over this s*** it happened to me a few times already while i was driving. and it goes away sometimes if i turn off truck completely and turn it back on. WEIRD
Must of the time it is a grounding issues my 2011 chevy suburban had it cleaned terminals and did some research on how to do a better ground and that fixed it. But if you have a reduced engine power that going to be your throttle body sensor and your throttle body might need cleaning. Clean first then replace sensor takes 15 min from cleaning and pulling back off to replace throttle body sensor
I just had that happen on my 2007 avalanche LTZ. The traction control light came on and it said service Stabilitrac and service traction control and was shifting hard going into second gear. I had been having battery problems prior to this and thought that that might be the reason. I just put a new battery in there and it fixed it.
Mine does the same when the lights is on it shifts really hard into 2nd but if the light is not on it’ll shift fine it happened after I replaced my master cylinder brake
problem caused by GM Engineers designed with fuels management. the lifters inside engine need to replace all. GM 2007 to 2017 if you lucky it can drive 120k miles, it cost $3500, i have my fixed last month it run like new now. take to the shop have them estimate for you. my 2007 Yukon 5.3 engine. with 110k miles on it.
Car has same problem but light pops on at random at rpms stutter and car struggles to gain speed and feel like it hops. I dont even know where to begin looking
julio arellano Heló I wanted to say thanks for your comment I had the same problem last night it took me an hour to get home and was a three minutes drive and this morning I was looking for videos and find your comment and then I went to check and was lower on Breaker liquid, I add some and boom the check light went off and works fine thank you so much.
Wow, after reading all the comments, I’m figuring that fixing this truck is going to be a freaking turkey shoot…. I’m starting with an idler arm and a new steering stabilizer shock since it doesn’t have one…. I’ll post more, maybe even the fix… if I can find it….
My 11 suburban does the same thing and since the last snow storm it won't shift out of 4w low.... so I really can't drive it on the road (over 40 mph) ..
Me too! But I drive in snow so when the light kicks on after about two minutes of driving my steering turns to shit and it drives like a 2WD piece of crap. It’s obviously disabling the traction control as well
they same mess kept poppin up so i ended up putting in a 2in leveling kit because i had some mud grips on it and i had to get a front end alignment and that ended up fixing it. I hope this helps somebody
Same and as I drive it comes on at the same place and ti.e every day lol 😆 I know when it's fixen to come on soon I get near a store boom comes on but if temperature is about 50 it wantcome on
I have a 2011 Tahoe LT with 158k miles on it. I replaced both front hub assembly's the first week of June, so almost 3 months ago. After I filled up with gas I got in and started the truck. I got the stabitrak and ABS lights along with the service messages. I drove it straight to the dealership which was only a 1/2 mile away. They put it on the computer. They told me my left front speed sensor was malfunctioning and my right hub assembly was loose on the inside. I don't really believe them after reading these comments and other video comments. The first week of June I also replaced the "brake switch" under the steering wheel because my cruise control wasn't working. Does anyone else have any other things it may be?? Thanks y'all.
CRAIGER D I've done the same with my 2011 Silverado. Also the dash panel $300 and both battery cables. There is also the parking brake switch which was like $15. I still have a drain on my battery and this new Stabilitrac error as well which I'm guessing is the new drain. A fix would be great.
I just had the same problem on my way to work on a 2010 silverado 5.3 lt the engine light came on so the traction control came on but my idling it’s really rough the engine sakes a lil and makes a mocking sound
2011 silverado 1500 4x4 : mine is doing the same thing when you turn the wheel. it only does this to me when i first start it and its really hot outside. like high 90's when its cool outside everything works just find. i tried taking it in but they didn't do shit because its been cool that last few days and it didn't come on its anoying.
Alvaro Alcala mine did the same thing when it was hot out this summer. Hasn't done it since until last few weeks or so and it's been cooling off outside. Any kick on figuring out what is causing it in yours?
This has been going on with my 2011 Silverado for over a year. The Service Stablitrak/Service Traction control lights only come on when it is hot outside, say above 80 degrees, but that is the only time those warning lights come on. Would be interesting to know what part or sensor that temperature could effect to cause this. The service manager at the dealership acted like i was nuts when i told him this last year. They couldn't duplicate the problem in the garage.
Yeah take it to a local box store , get it coded for free I replaced all of my spark plugs and nothing, took it to advance auto the coded it for free mine is right rear speed control sensor nothing to do with spark plugs or anything in the engine compartment, bottom line do research my friend
Having the same problem on my 2010 avalanche hit new rear struts got back in the car and seen the triangle brakes warning and rear stabilitrack off also I just seen my brake fluid is short of full can anyone help me?
2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT 5.3L V8 - Check engine light, stabilitrak light, and tire light all on. Check engine light blinks. The tire light came on after I got a flat and replaced with the spare tire the other day. Waiting on shop to get the new tire in. Check engine light came on before this at some point. After the tire light came on, stabilitrak light along with service traction control warning populated. Going to check for codes later today. Any advice is much appreciated.
