Just did mine on my new to me 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Quadradrive-II. 86,000 miles. Nasty transfer case fluid, I don't think it had ever been done. I did it on my back, didn't even have to use ramps. Did both diffs & the transfer case fluids
@@georgeallen5652 Mopar AT+4 for the transfer case & Mopar gear oil 75W-85 with a limited slip additive bottle in the rear diff, mine has LSD optional rear for 2013 , doing it again now lol
Thanks for the how to video. 2015 jeep grand cherokee altitude owners manual says to inspect the transfer case fluid at 30k, 60k, 90k, change it at 120k, then inspect at 150k. For SRT version, it says to drain the transfer case and refill at 30k, 60k, 90k, 120k, 150k. Theres also a table for the diesel version. I am at a 120k now and will be doing the fluid change. Also, the Quadra-Trac I takes Shell ATF 3353, and the Quadra-Trac II takes ATF+4 like in your video. Not sure about newer year vehicles though.

I just called a jeep dealer today and they said 700$ each 1400 for both front and rear differential fluid change that crazy I did it myself in only 30 minutes and 50.00 bucks for the fluid and modifier
I have a 2018 Cherokee trailhawk with 3.2L V6 24V VVT ENGINE W/ESS Transmission 9-SPD 948TE 4WD AUTO TRANS I can’t find any info on if my rear diff needs to have the additive to the fluid . Can you help please. The Manual doesn’t tell me anything Thanks in advance
My 2014 Jeep SRT was shuddering during acceleration from a stop. Did the transfer case service and within 30miles it was gone! It had 99k at the time. I was the 3rd owner soo I have no idea it was done before.
Good Video, I did mine last Year after watching your Videos. I also did the Front & Rear Differentials. Very easy and Inexpensive to do without having to jack the vehicle up. I will do it once a year since it only takes an hour to do all 3.
One of the most neglected drivetrain components on a 4x4. I would have people request fluid for a transmission flush, or have me service their transmission. I would ask if they have ever serviced the transfer case? "Say what? Do you need to do that?" I have seen many that it looked like diesel oil draining out of the transfer case after 75,000 to 100,000 miles. Way past due. It two quarts or less for most applications. Good advise. Thanks for the video and information.
is this the quardra trec 1? im looking at a 2013 jeep grand cherokee larado and i think it has a trec 1 is that a good transfer case are these jeeps reliable for a long time, my dad wants a newer suv because his 2003 ford escape is very rusty but he needs a robust 4x4 for pulling logs for fire wood but still good for daily driving but must 2013 4x4 suv's ;don't seem to have a strong 4x4 that can be switched on or off and he really doesn't like when the 4x4 turns on by it self but likes the idea of it being on all the time if it cant be turned off. just curious of your thoughts has 170000 kilometers
I think you just became my best friend. So I just got a 2016 grand Cherokee summit eco diesel. I need an oil change. What steps do y’all recommend I take to get this car to tip top shape?
@@Nirvalica , then it’s not lifetime fluid. Just a lifetime false information. Just because they make difficult it doesn’t mean can last lifetime. What maintenance is not difficult on BMW?
Great informative video thank you. Btw, anyone knows if this normal to have oil dripping out when I remove the encoder (position sensor or potentiometer) from the Tcase? It seems to me that i may have a bad seal between the encoder assy and internal shaft. Anyone?
I have the Jeep GC WK2 Eco Diesel and IT hast to bei eine every 50.000 Miles or 48 months, which occurs First, according to the official documentation of the OEM.
So I just did front and rear diff on my 13 durango AWD w/3.5 v6. Also did my transfer case, it didn’t even take 1 full quart. Does that seem right? I can’t find any dodge specific videos. The owners manual doesn’t specify a capacity either. The dealer sold me 2 quarts. I’m confused.
I am looking at a 2011 GC limited with the hi/low TC, 130,000 miles, CARFAX 1 owner, consistent oil changes every 3-4 but the TC didnt show any service or did the transmission but showroom leather interior and panoramic moon roof, 20 inch wheels, etc. After 12 years i sold my 96 GC 5.2. It will be my 2nd vehicle so wont see daily use so buying something with 130,000 miles isnt an issue, i have a 2021 Kia Forte 6 speed manual for daily use. I was going to check the trans. fluid but the dipstick tube has a dealer only plug in it.
Any risk in changing this fluid if you're not sure if it has ever been changed before? I'm at about 140k miles but unsure if it has ever been changed....
no, go ahead and do it. I'm on my 2nd GC with this setup, ran first one to 280,000 miles and never changed the transfer case fluid. Changing it now on my 2013 for first time at 85K
Hey when I click on the link for the fluid, the part number is different from the one you display in the video. Yours end with AC but the one on Amazon ends with AB. Does that matter for my 2013 jeep grand cherokee laredo? Or can I still use it?
I have a 2015 JGC Altitude Edition I didn't know either if I had a 1 speed or 2 speed transfer case, I ended up going to a FCA website and entered my VIN# and was able to get my vehicle equipment listing which has everything about my particular vehicle. I'm not able to make any selection for 4 wheel drive, sand or snow Hi or Low, so I have a One speed transfer case. Hope this helps you out.
I wish someone would show in detail the MP2010 transfer case refill procedure because it's apparently pretty specific. Only holds 0.55 Quarts of "ATF approved to MB 236.10, MB 236.12, such as Shell ATF 3403/M-115, MOPAR® part number 05127382AA, Fuchs/Shell ATF 3353, or equivalent." NOT ATF+4. And you're not supposed to fill it until it comes out of the fill hole, that would be overfilling it. It should be filled 1 to 1.3 inches below the fill hole and to use a metal dipstick bent at a 90 degree angle to measure this accurately. I thought about just capturing the exact amount the comes out, then putting the exact fluid amount back in but I'm only at 20,000 miles so it might be a waste of time right now
Unless I am wrong, I don't see any responses from this guy, so what's the point in posting videos if you aren't going to respond to people.....anyway, I have a 2015 Grand Cherokee with the 3.6 V6, just found out about the two transfer cases. I contacted Red Line oil, but...how can I tell which one I have? I am guessing the MP2010 is not real common?
@@ArcticAstrophysics Thank you sir...ours is the 3.8 V6, with the knob to set it on/off...I am guessing the other is probably for , like the SRT and the Trackhawk?. Don't wanna be swithhing back and forth with 700hp...
Just did mine. I bought it a couple months ago. Jeep was shuddering fiercely from when stopping and going. Saw a few flakes in the old fluid, not much but seeing any at all makes me uncomfortable. Hopefully everything holds up.
@@samspace81 no issues, hasn’t shuddered since. I just changed my differential fluids about a month ago and did the transfer case again just to be safe and maybe get anymore of that glitter out. The fluid came out clean and clear so I think I might have saved it.
I have 2011 engine light still on,I have this vehicle last year 2021 I’m suffer with a lot of problems, I always change oil on time, oil filter, air filter ligh never go away, and now there noise come out under the seat, Please do you have any idea, I need help
Couldn't you of used a torque wrench with an extension for the fill plug to keep from possibly over tightening it since it is in a tight spot? Just my observation! Thanks
this is unrelated but i was wondering if you could help me a bit please its about my ford fusion hyrbid well for one i need to restore ev mode by tricking the battery age. but besides that my 2010 ford fusion hyrbid is only getting 15 mpg! even a normal ford fusion gets 25 or more. what could be causing this drastic fuel consumption? the vapor canister. fuel pump? throttle body? somethin else? the engine also has a slight ping but i dont think its a rod knock maybe to rich of fuel? or engine oil got to low :/ any ideas! :(
I’ve had my 2012 laredo for just over three years. I bought it with 53k and now has 80k. So far I’ve only changed out the noisy rocker arms/lifters, new battery, and I’ve replaced all fluids. Not bad and I got it for 15k. Very comfortable and good on the road.
Hey I don't know if you give advice or not but I really need some help with the 1.0 on a 2016 focus I am completely stumped on this engine swap if you can help please I would appreciate it I have been a follower of yours for a few years and several of your videos have helped me out of a jam.... Thank you
So there seems to be a huge controversy about fluid and when it should be changed. Especially when it comes to the "Forever fluid " that the car makers claim. Back in the '90's I daily drove a 1972 SS454 Elcamino. I bought it with 112k miles on it. When I parked it (due to rust , but still ran great) it had 403k miles on it. When I first got it, I changed the oil, transmission fluid, and rear diff. fluid with synthetic from AMSOIL. I would change the oil filter every 7k miles(and add a quart), and the oil at 21k miles. The transmission fluid, being synthetic, I did at 100k mile intervals. Never did the rear diff. again. Synthetic oils aren't supposed to break down like conventional oils. My point being; I have a 2016 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4. It currently has 243,500 miles on it. I bought it used with 90k on it. At 120k I replaced the front and rear diff. fluid. Every 10k to 15k I replace the oil and filter. I haven't replaced the transmission fluid or the transfer case fluid yet, but will be doing it very soon. Otherwise it runs really well. Almost forgot, I run Lukas oils "low viscosity" oil additive in the oil, and their fuel treatment every other fuel fill up. At 120k I replaced the sparkplugs and coils. Last year I replaced the Antifreeze and radiator(had a small crack in the plastic). Up next; 4 new wheel bearings,4 rotors, pads, front strut assemblies, rear shocks and springs. Hopefully the bushings and ball joints are still okay, no issues so far.
That's not really a standard Jeep Grand Cherokee transfer case. Most Jeep Grand Cherokee transfer case are MP2010 transfer case. Yours is totally different.
@@BSGAutomotive Do all the 3.6L have the same transfer case? My wife has a 2015 JGC Limited 3.6L. I'm getting ready to change all the fluids. How do i know which transfer case I have? The tag fell off at some point so i can't use that for reference.
How would you know what transfer case you have without a sticker? I’m getting ready to do this and another video I saw said it was like half a qt, a little over a pint, for the transfer case so these 2 videos are far off from eachother, both referencing 2011 and later models.
