this repair is apply to all the 2ur-gse engine. 2007-2014 Lexus IS F (USE20) 2014-Present Lexus RC F (USC10) 2015-Present Lexus GS F (URL10) 2017-Present Lexus LC 500 (URZ100)
Piece of added advice-The shop that did mine replaced the valley plate with a new one as they can warp. They also used a RTV sealant used on UPS trucks that is good for a million miles (so they say). I wouldn't want to use the same sealant that went bad unless Toyota has an improved version. I still can't figure out why they just didn't use a gasket. This was on a 2011 IS-F as well. And all the injector clips will need to be replaced. Great Video-thank You.
Thank you sooooo much. Doing this repair this weekend and now this video gives me all the confidence I needed. Looks pretty straight forward. Not many videos like this on our IS-F. Thank you once again.
Thank so much for this video I bought my ISF last year and I notice my heater would get cold when it’s at idle during the winter. I work at a Lexus dealership and my technician said it’s your valley plate and i saw forms saying $1000 to $2000 for just replacing the seal but I haven’t seen any major coolant leaks but I do check on it but again Thank You because you’re literally the only person that has made a video for this.
Probably the first and only complete video covering one of the two most common problems on the ISF (the other issue being a cracked manifold). Thank you so much for posting this! I had mine repaired at the dealership in 2018 and it would've been a $2500 dollar job but I had extended warranty.
You’re a legend mate. That’s brilliant job, hard though. Appreciate much that you’ve shared this stuff with Lexus owners. My LS460 awaits this job to be done; roll sleeves up.
Loved your video! I know some guys in Cali that might need the job done; so if you're up for and wanna get payed let me know, I'll be sending them your way good sir! God bless 🙌
@AllTsab I just liked and subscribed to you! First time seeing a video on the ISF Valley Plate Leak fix. I wish I lived in Cali, because when the inevitable time comes for my repair, I'm gonna be a grown ass man crying as I do it :o
Thank you for this I just found out mine is leaking as I was installing my oil air seperator and realised. If anyone else can make more detailed step by step videos soon will be good.
@@alltsab Lucky for you the 1UR-FSE has the same problem! I put mine back together today only to realize that the valley plate did not seal, coolant all over the ground. Not sure where I went wrong, I'm wondering if I accidentally over-torqued the bolts causing the FIPG to squish out too far..? I should have tested it prior... but It did only happen after the coolant system was under pressure.
@@1OMEGA111 I gave everyone warning about leak test before closing everything in my video. Check the 2 o-ring you may accidentally twist it while you install.
@@alltsab Ah no, I found this video today while trying to find why it leaked. I should have tested it, but was under the impression that It would need to be leak tested while the engine was running. Though it did only seem to start leaking after it was under pressure... I Did not realize it was possible to test while the intake was off. I was thinking that as well, though I dipped the o-rings in coolant to act as something of a lubricant during install. So I dont think they'd be twisted, but maybe pushed out of the groove? Though the orings are my guess for the leak as the only issue I can think of with the plate would be that it was over-torqued, I set my torque wrench to 15ftlbs but could have tightened a few bolts a few ftlbs over, though I cant imagine the difference of a few ftlbs would have caused that much of a leak.
@@stevekalesia3922 I pinched the oring on the large pipe that connects the plate to the pump. It got caught and rolled backwards when I put it in so it was just spewing coolant Replaced it and more carefully installed the plate, on a side-note, I just took it apart again for a different reason and the seal has held (I used permatex "the right stuff" rtv)
Just a piece of advice, the fuel injectors will and can crack upon removal and installation. More on the driver side each injector is around 350 at the dealer (US) a rebuilt injector is a waste of time they will crack just plugging them in or trying to remove the pigtail. BE extremely careful, I have done a few the last one I did takes the cake. Under that intake is a motherload of heat that fries everything. The other part of this video I did not have to pull the starter wire I hung the harness over to the driver side with a tie.
One quick question. The black foam piece on top of the valley plate is important to reinstall ? I need to change the fuel rail pressure sensor and because of that black foam I can see it not even with an endoscopic camera. Am sure am not placing back.
Look at all the plumbing you have to remove to get to the valley. What a minefield Ive heard this V8 has a reputation for leaking in the valley How long did the job take i bet 8-10 hours
The heat exchanger(top piece) can sometimes develop tiny cracks, so even though you sealed it properly, it still leaks, maybe better to buy new heat exchanger.
Can you tell us what the part numbers were for o-rings and gaskets? My recomendation for you is to post those part numbers in your video description as well My 2nd recomendation is to set up accounts with Amazon, Walmart etc to do "drop shipping" account and add the link into your descriptionfor these parts this way you get a small percentage and people can just click link to go straight to part. You can do that with all your videos you use parts in. 😂 Thank you so much My brother! GOD BE WITH YOU ALWAYS.
At 17:13 you stopped the video when you were about to install the valley plate , can you explain to me how you got it in that easy? What did you move at the firewall? The reason I’m asking you as it’s very tight space at the fire wall. I removed the wire harness, and the fuel line hose and still had difficulty aligning the plate with out touching the sealant Thanks 🙏
All Tsab yes I already did take the studs out , lubed the o rings, and removed the fuel line ( firewall) and installed it without disturbing the sealant. Thanks
I commend you for doing this HARD JOB, i am a mechanic and i dread doing my 2011 ISF. THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO. Have you done PPE headers on the ISF " I'M SURE YOU COULD" all the best to you and your family cheers from OZ
@@alltsab Are you a mechanic, because you seemed to know exactly what your doing, how many IFS valley plates have you done, kudos to you, pitty i live in OZ but maybe you can come over cheers from OZ.
Hello. If you don't smell antifreeze then you don't have this issue correct ? I just want to do preventative maintenance on my ls460 and heard this is common. Thank you so much
All Tsab I’ve been wanting to make videos. But I can’t find a good simple video on how to make them. So you simply record on a Go-Pro then pause it when necessary when moving and mounting it into a car or you just leave it on and edit walking around with it out? What editing software you use? I’ve thought about just using my phone but I don’t think it’s possible for long detailed videos, at least from what I see most nearly all use a Go Pro. Is a Labtop or computer a must? Reason I ask is I disconnected my land internet in favor or Unlimited Cell data and I’ve been doing everything on my phone for years. Even Powerselling on Ebay, 1,700+ feedback all from my IPhone.
@@Mr.Beastforpresident I edit in my computer and used my phone to upload to the RU-vid. You can used any free video editing to edit. Use the most simple and friendly editing tool so you won't frustrate. The reason I saying it because you don't need to do a lot graphic fancy editing. If you getting better with the simple one then you can try to move on to the higher end one. By the way did you help subscribe to my channel yet? Please help subscribe and share too ok thanks.
Well, I was contemplating buying one of these cars, but what a nightmare of vacuum lines and electrical spaghetti smothering up the intake manifold. Too excessive. Valve cover gaskets look like they would be a nightmare too. What a bummer.
Not yet I don't have anyone I know own one yet but I will definitely if I have an opportunity to work on one I will record and post it. However, all lexus should be very similar to each other.
This leak is an issue on many is f's not just the odd one or two The gasket fails because it deteriorates with age. It is an inferior material not able to stand up to heat and pressure. This should be a warranty issue
It is/was warranty covered issue BUT it should be a lifetime warranty coverage type of issue because it is a flaw from the manufacturer on these beauty's.
I just started tacking this one and the only thing now preventing me moving the whole harness to the side is removing that one connector. I honestly don't know how he managed to do it. There is like no clear access to the damn thing.
Kumusta! The LS 460 has the same wiring loom hornets nest above the intake manifold. The intake manifold is plastic though and should be lighter....you can make a killing doing this gasket service on late model LS 460 which is prone to leak. Thanks again!
Ok because I'm doing the valley plate now and after I let it cure, I filled it up with coolant and it always leaks so I'm trying to see if there's another way to test it out. I'm tired of buying bottles of coolant at a time lol
Very hard, my hand small so I reached in the back to pull it out. As shown in the video I used a little pick to pry the clip then pull it out. Take me a long time on that clip
In my opinion you have a nice car don't used those garbage stop leak it will create cluster problems to your system. It will clog up your radiator and heater core.
@@joelandersonphoto And yet folks have over 300k miles and are still pushing these cars. Not overcomplication. That is most motors today. Ironically enough despite all of that it's a pretty amazing engine with little issues if any.
You absolutely right but you have to wait for it dry out first. I used Carb cleaner is dry fast so I don't have to wait long. Thanks for a great advice.
All Tsab Why not Orielly brake cleaner on a rag? I find Orielly brake cleaner works better than any other brand I’ve tried including CRC Also, I would have used Permatex Ultrablack Gasket Maker ( pictured below ) instead of the clear silicone again, the clear silicone failed once. The Ultrablack is extremely tough. BUT I could be wrong, you may know something I don’t. Please correct me if I’m wrong. I have 20+ years experience BUT there’s many things I don’t know. Still learning everyday. www.permatex.com/products/gasketing/ultra-series-gasket-makers/permatex-ultra-black-maximum-oil-resistance-rtv-silicone-gasket-maker-4/
All Tsab Great Videos by the way 👍👍👍 great channel. You do quality work done right. You’re good at what you do, most other mechanics and shops are half@ss, use cheap non-OEM quality parts and don’t believe in Torque Wrenches
Om shocked to learn that they used silicone to seal instead of a gasket. That is a real disapointment. These cars cost big bucks & you think youre buying something thats not going to need this type of repair. NOT GOOD ENOUGH toyota!!!
That looks like a poorly designed motor, overly complex, and the wire harness is likely exposed to too much heat, yowza, now I see why they say stay away from Lexus v8’s
Literally the only recurring issue people are having with these cars that affect all years are the valley plate leak, sticky dash and exhaust manifold crack. The sticky dash is covered through Lexus so just take it in to the dealer and they replace the dash and panels if they’re bad but Thats pretty much it
