@@Big_Ben1988 eh, Mafioso for being 2011 is like G wagon or usually some bullet proof tahoe, not as classy like back in the 80s when they rode Cadillacs.
This is the type of car you could drive across the continent and not be tired. Body on frame, rear wheel drive, and a bulletproof v8, it’s a shame cars like this are no longer in production.
I listed mine for rent on Turo and HyreCar. Seriously my best renter. I have the Executive for myself, personal usage only! The grill and lights are different from previous years though. You can verify through Google Images. 👨🏿✈️ 🚗
The TownCar is interesting because even in the 1990s, it still kept its dated 1980s look until the redesign in 1998, which ended up being ahead of its time (it's like they totally skipped from the 1980s straight into the 2000s) that it needed relatively little adjustment over the years. That was one design that had fantastic shelf life. TownCar will always be a timeless winner.
Browningate They should of put an in between 1097 and 1998 design. So it could have lasted another 5 years. But I’m not sure if it was sales or just the design that never changed which did bad for it.
The towncar along with the crown Vic and grand marquis were based off the panther platform which lasted from the late 1970's all the way to 2011 so they were literally built like old school cars body on frame rear wheel drive and a V8. That's how it kept that ride and feel that everybody loves. I believe in 2012 new federal regulations on stability control is what finally made these cars to he discontinued
This car is absolutely beautiful. I can not believe so many years have alreasy passed since Kyle filmed this video. Time sure flies, but this car is timeless. 😊
I have a Signature Limited also. Mine is a 2005. The exterior and interior are two tone with factory navigation & sunroof, chrome door trim and special chrome wheels. Amazing ride. Love this car...
Nice review kyle ... i love this car too much . new car just like a plastic and window and you just drive it !! .... i like the color on it and the black interior and the wood very great :) .. I`am from Kuwait i want the sister of this car like this car 100%
If Henry Ford (was still alive today would he drop the Town Car?) BTW the Ford family still has controlling interest in operations. Henry Ford: The Town Car stay! Sales and marketing: But Mr. Ford we only sell like 10,000 a year? Henry Ford: Ahh its better then 0!
I learned a lot of things about the latest model year Town Cars from this video, I had no idea they got to keep the remote fuel-door opener for one, since Crown Victorias and Grand Marquis' lost that after 2003. Didn't know these ever had something as electronically sophisticated as backup assist either, makes me wonder if it came on later Crown Victorias as well. Same with dual-zone climate control and in-dash 6-CD, SO cool, I would kill for the in-dash 6-CD just to have it, lol
I am so glad that this car is in Driver San Francisco so I can drive it long after they're no longer made. R.I.P. The Lincoln Town Car. Americas Last All American Sedan.
You are so right. You good people the other side of the pond wont realise what you have there until after it's gone. Over here in the UK we think there is a direct link between your auto industry's financial problems and the disappearance of the big, stylish, rear wheel drive V8 sedan or coupe. Forget eurojap styling and influence, bring back the traditional US cars and the industry's crises will disappear in no time! My current ride is a 2000 Cartier Town Car with carriage roof Gorgeous!
V8 with 230 odd hp, solid rear axle. For all those people complaining they made a mistake discontinuing these cars, if ppl were buying them they'd still be selling them.
The lack of sales and popularity is not the reason Ford Motor Company discontinued the Panther cars, as these cars we still very popular in 2011. The reaason these cars got the axe was that Ford thought it would be too expensive to update the safety features, you know, things like electronic stability control, unibody construction, and all that to live up to the impending safety regulations of the early 2010s.
these things are slick, sad to see no new redesign. one of my grandmas has 4 or 5 generations of these throughout the course of my lifetime. im just curious what will be the new choice of taxi's and police cars in the future?????
I want one of these if I find one because it’s the type of car that is no longer popular I could get one for a great deal it can pull 2000lbs witch is good it’s got good fuel economy and a big gas tank it’s a great daily driver and a good travel car they should be easy to find because there were a lot made and a lot of people trading them in for an suv so finding one shouldn’t be too hard they are excellent cars the town car is one nice ride
Dear Ford, please don't stop making this and the Crown Victoria!!!! Bring back Mercury so the Grand Marquis is there too! These cars will be missed and I would definitely consider one in the future. People keep buying boring foreign cars anymore with 4 cylinders. Not saying that's bad but still, why would you want that when you can have something like THIS?! No foreign car company makes cars this nice and luxurious.
mhtube01 Well Lexus 460LS will outdue every part along with younger buyers too. Oh wait if the Toyota Century gets sold here nearly all luxury cars are done in the US.
Years ago, NVH used to be part of any review. That is, noise, vibration and harshness. These days with the suspension screwed to the body, mot cars especially Mercedes, are very noisy. So how quiet is it on the road with the road surface being the ubiquitous crushed rock.
+töttöröö kökköröö I'm a 2011 Lincoln Town Car. That Lincoln Town Car you saw in this video is one of my brothers. He has only over 17,000 miles on him. Him and I with my entire Lincoln Town Car family are totally reliable. Take care of us and we'll run forever!
Smoothest, sleekest, and most comfortable cars to own; Ford Motor Company will deeply regret discontinuing this model, the last of its kind. The kind of style and class that aren't found anywhere in the automobile industry anymore. Last of a dying breed. No truer words have ever been told.
I mourn the loss of these land yachts. Last of the body-on frame, RWD, V8 American sedans, truly throwbacks to 1960s and 1970s full size cars.(in no small part due to the chassis dating back to the late 1970s.) Sure they handled like mush, but they were never meant to drive like a sports car. They were reliable, no-nonsense, and as long as you changed the fluids, they gave you no trouble. They glided and caressed you, a moving sofa with a v8 rumble. All bumps were isolated from the driver. The last "true" American car, built like they had always been.
Josh Nixon Take a ride in a new Charger. They ride sooo smooth while handling good, have great modern tech, better acceleration (even with the V6), rear wheel drive, large, and has 4 doors. This is a nice example of a TC though. The auto trunk is awesome.
Rick James My father owns a 300C. it's probably as close as we can get now. Lincoln's newer models are nice, but all FWD. I do like the MKS and MKZ though.
One dream of mine is driving a Lincoln Town Car on Route 66. As Sally put it in the film "Cars": "Forty years ago that interstate didn't exist. Back then, cars came across the country a whole different way. The road didn't cut through the land like that interstate; it moved with the land. It rose, it fell, it curved. Cars didn't drive on the road to make great time; they drove on it to have a great time."
The last car where you measured the truck capacity in X-number of dead Italians... You know what I'm talking about? I'd say that's about a 4 corpse trunk, eh?
My dad had been driving town cars for half of his entire life (mainly because he works for Dial 7) and did a lot of driving around in the city. 7 years each car, with about 400,000 miles on each of em and it still didn't break a sweat. So happy that he's going to pass down the 2010 Continental Edition to me someday!
Lincoln/Ford Motor Company really screwed up getting rid of the Town Car and the Crown Vic. These were well made, reliable, great ride, safe, easy to work on cars. So sad. Lincoln has no nice cars now. The new Continental is too small and doesn't have the prestige of The Town Car.
@GothRocker7, yes Ford made a BIG mistake, and revealed their lack of perspective, and lack of care for the niche market, even if only 10,000 a year were sold. They showed complete DISloyalty to their customers. Maybe someone there will wake up and bring it back--the RIGHT way!
@YourTypical Asian None have the space or the elegance of the Town Car. Though I admit, the newest Navigator is impressive, as is the resurrected Aviator.
My grandfather has a 2006 Town Car Signature Limited. It's alot like this. It rides so nice. Much better than a Cadillac. Powerful too. He is extremely disappointed Ford discontinued the Town Car.
I would say Cadillac started taking over American luxury starting 1999 ah eh they introduced the new escalade, it was like a new sheriff in town, they are amazing cars and were built like tanks.
MMID303 Well i know your Father and all other Bishops and Pastors out there was sad when Ford discontinued the Towncar. When Lincoln came out with the MKS that replaced the Towncar many were mad other's crossed over to the other side and did Cadillac or Lexus and Mercedes. But even those people talked about there Benz or even Lexus didn't ride or feel as comfy as the way the Towncar did
Well a brand new 2018 model would look different. But I would love modify the older ones to bring it more up today. Its a simple design with easy mods.
Tough and reliable gentle giants. Although not being the measuring stick for American luxury since the 90's, they still were unrivaled till the end in durability & limited cost to repair.
matt munson maybe true, but then again what is luxury? The term itself is subjective. To me, luxury is expansive interior space in every direction with very comfortable seats , a smooth ride, and all the features you need and nothing you don't.
@@djl_cyber_yt Very true, and usually with a price tag well north of $100K. The Lexus LC comes to mind immediately. Self-parking, perfume sprayers, all that fancy jazz. It's interesting how much cars have changed over the decades.
@@hakeemsd70m Very true. Unlike other sports cars though, the Lexus LC is relatively reliable due to Japanese quality. Even then, they don’t necessarily have the same tried and true formula as the Town Car.
I'm from the UK, and have been in a couple of town cars. It's my most favourite car..... i love every thing about it. It's such a smooth ride, and the back seats are more comfortable than an arm chair. Should never of stopped making this master piece. I would LOVE to own one, but that's never gonna happen. Love this car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
these town cars along with the crown vics which is the same platform all have the old Mustang GT's 4.6 liter v8 2 valve modular which is really putting out 260 hp very reliable engine you can't go wrong with these cars safety reliability and mild performance with nice 90's style
@GamerAndReviewer Yeah Lincoln is Ford's luxury brand. And also Ford's 4.6L V8 may be underpowered but it's really reliable. I've seen a bunch of these Town Cars and Grand Marquis with well over 300k on the odometer. That's one of the reasons they are so liked by taxi drivers and airport chauffeurs. These cars will run forever and can easily meet the demands of such people.
Absolutely. I have said that a Lincoln Town Car is the only way to travel to or from the airport in comfort, luxury, and style. Along with ample space in the trunk for your luggage and generous leg room in the back seat to allow you to just comfortably stretch out your legs and fall asleep until you get home if you're traveling from the airport.
@@michaellovely6601 I'm sad that Ford hasn't done anything since 1990 to compete with the Lexus LS, Infiniti Q45, Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7-Series, and Audi.
Beautiful car, should have never been discontinued. I’m never gonna know why they stopped making these. Tgey sold well, see them every day in car services.
nageorgiou2, you're a rare breed. I appreciate your maturity. You recognize old school elegance and class. Save up your money, and the perfect Lincoln Town Car will be waiting just for you. DON'T cave in to the so-called cool, modern, sporty cars, because long after they have breathed their last, your Town Car will still be singing! When you get it, I hope you make a RU-vid video and show it off! In the title of the video tell us your age, and we'll know it's the car the former 17 year-old was saving up for, and reached his/her goal!
I hope you were able to find the car that you wanted. I'm glad you're a well raised mature teenager, saving money for your car. Were you able to buy one? Let us know! Stay safe and well
@@Psalm_27.4 i bought my 2000 town car for 5500 when i was 16 as i grew up with my dad having one but he totaled it in 2011 and it sucked and at the time i just kept working for chores, even charging to do my classmates biology, physics and accounting homeworks and powerpoints and boy it worked. I drive my 2000 town car with s big grin on my face every time i get in, and it's currently at 92,000 miles now when i am 21 years old
Before Uber hit the modern day, these luxurious beasts were what my uncles drove as cabs/limos. I’m talking 300-400k miles and still running like new. Lincoln, please bring this car back without it being like most cars nowadays (smartphones on wheels) This car was so effortless. Truly a pinnacle of American luxury
@@42luke93 the sad truth. We have got to enjoy them before they are all gone. I myself just picked up an 03 with 124k miles. I dont plan on ever selling it
Before you all laugh at the Town Car’s relatively low power output considering its 4.6 litre engine displacement and make some comment about your lawnmower having more power per litre, what you need to understand is this: the Town Car isn’t about speed or horsepower or quarter mile times. It’s all about delivering a smooth, comfortable and luxurious ride at any speed, and the Town Car delivers this in spades. It’s because of this that I like to think of the Town Car as a ‘poor man’s Mercedes S-Class’. This also applies to the Town Car’s sister cars, the Ford Crown Victoria & the Mercury Grand Marquis. Not only that, but because of the body-on-frame design and the fact that the Town Car’s V8 engine is massively under-stressed, the Town Car, along with its aforementioned Ford and Mercury sister cars, is notoriously reliable - one Town Car featured on Scotty Kilmer’s ‘Show-Off Sunday’ series on RU-vid had done 486,000 miles (486,609 miles, to be exact) at the time of filming.
Your response is spot on! Unfortunately there’s many people who would rather stick to their money-pit cars, bragging about how much horsepower they can get out of a luxury car. This car is mean’t to stand out from the rest.
