Fantastic Video. Even though their styles may appear to be a little different, it is amazing to see that they all have those little intangibles in common that make up truly successful hitters.
Great video. Does anyone else notice that all of these guys are "dropping the barrel" earlier than many young players are being taught today? None of these guys have a bat that's coming down on the ball at contact. And it's not just in the home run derby. Watch slow-mo replays of these guys in games and it's the same thing.
There was once a version on youtube of this to some really motivating style music ! This is nice in that it kind of demonstrates the "art" of a beautiful swing but doesn't really get you pumped up.
Love how much momentum & transfer they get. Young players can do this too if they understand timing. Also love how they DON'T squash the bug. Head stays on the ball, shoulders rotate through, no one stays back. Love it!
Having an unweighted back foot at contact is vital to maximizing power. This is why virtually every elite hitter in the MLB hits this way. Converting the linear weight shift into rotational forces is what powers the swing.
