oh shit, boys...Steve's given us a video inside a video... It's like nesting doll made of rations.. Yo dawg, i heard you like rations, So i put a ration in your ration, so you can survive, while you survive..
That is actually one out of 3 can's that comes with the survival kit, ( the 2011 one) You are missing out of 1 can that is filled with fuel and comes also with a stand to put the third one on that is the actual food, other versions comes even equiped with a fishing rod and a small pocket knife.
I think the ties, the plastic tube, the bags etc are so that the airmen can arrest and interrogate rabbits and hedgehogs. To find out where the enemy are hiding. Or something.
As a Swede I have always wanted you to review a Swedish ration and I was thrilled when I saw 'Swedish' in the title. Imagine my excitement when I got 2 Swedish reviews in one! Thank you Steve, as per usual your vids are pretty Nice!
Ration was designed to keep a pilot alive in case of emergency Steve: drinks beef broth and coffee using plastic tubing as a straw Also Steve: In case you wanna have fun! I love this man
Ive watched all your vids love them. As its 50yrs since moon landing have you considered doing. NASA/ESA/SOVIET space related MREs ? I can imagine theres lots of different types out there 👍
@@Gr-zny i believe he has done some astronaut food. But there are modern options he could choose. Plus the only difference between freeze dried rations and astronaut rations is packaging.
Dextro Energy is a german company - i found one of those bars from '94 at my grandparents place and found it still edible. Back then they were named "DextroEnergen"
I like how you included the metal wire and ties onto the tray. "Let's put that metal wire into a bowl, and fill it with milk to make a nutritious breakfast. Nice!"
What ?! Really ! can you explain more how his videos effect your life quality ?! I like his videos but man you make him sounds like some kind of God ! and many other people comments the same !!! that is so wired !
Considering that the Swedish Air Force is purely for defensive purposes I would say that water purification tabs are unnecessary since the water in and around Sweden can be safely consumed pretty much wherever you are as long as you a little bit of common sense. I was born in Norway and I would be very surprised if someone died of dehydration in Norway/Sweden/Finland in a survival situation. I don't think they consider the risk of ending up somewhere else to be significant enough to even include purification tabs because of the abundance of clean water in these regions. EDIT: Good stuff, as always Steve!
Any random north american would die because if you drink untreated water here you tend to get extremely sick and potentially die anyway. The sole exception is like, pure mountain snowmelt streams in the rockies
hey Sar Jim! A little late here but I just wanna say man it's always great to see ya in the comments. I promise not to be gone so long on the next round of videos!
John Stacy yeah the kit is not well thought out. They could’ve gave replaced the birth packs with cubes and been able to pack more in and replaced the sweetener with iodine tablets and used thin metal wire ranger than the twist ties
The dextrose candies remind me of my days as an emt. Obviously we used strait glucose. But the point was the same, get the blood sugar up or level so you can think properly.
It's debatable as to whether you'd need a drink with them, I used to carry some as emergency supplies as I'm Type 1 Diabetic, the plain ones are foul and you would need something to wash them down as they're really dry.
Things will get better Daniel. Sometimes ya gotta think about the things you are grateful for. I do it in the shower every day - I think of at least 10 things I am grateful for in my life. The gratitude and positive thinking will lead to more positive things. These videos can be one of those things for ya man. Think of some more and I am pretty sure it will help, even just a little bit. Also diet and exercise can work wonders! Wishing you all the best dude.
If anybody doesn't know... Nescaff Gold is FUXING AWESOME instant coffee. Blend it right in, even goes well in instant oatmeal. Smoother than anything else in the US.
The dextro energy tablets have been popular in Germany for ages. As a kid, I would get several and a cup of tea at stations along the route of Volksmarwches. It was something to look forward to during long walks through scenic settings. I know everyone else probably googled "suketter" but it appears to be the same as sucralos, cyclamates or sacarin. That means they put a zero-calorie sweeter in a survival ration.
Oh man you gotta get yourself one of those little Coleman stoves and a mess kit so you can have a hot meal next time Maggie! You're a trooper. You're welcome and thank you too!
No need for water purification if fighting in Sweden. We have great water quality, just boil lake water. You can just drink from streams. Abroad, sure. Pretty sure that's vegetable broth. Good vid.
this is the comment i was looking for. Like i expected... Comming from an alpine country i have first learned what water purification tablets were from books. Whenever in the mountains, we could always drink from any little stream... Even most of our lakes have drinking water quality. So i supposed, that so far north even if there aren't that many mountains in sweden the water situation might be similar. (Because of the huge amounts of forrestal areas, and the temperature setting, isn't quite a tropical island yet ;-) )
There's almost nothing I wouldn't watch if Steve was reviewing or narrating it. Keep doing what your doing brother, your the balance RU-vid needs to stay alive.
Everytime Steve uploads i get so excited! It's like; "What is he opening this time?" You never know what you're gonna get! Ps: love your channel Steve, so glad i found it!
How tf does a pilot ration not come with water purification tablets or some way to purify/distill water. Also I'm assuming that the pilot had another survival pack on him with line, matches, etc? But this has some survival stuff so.... what?!?! They must have something else with them that goes with this
The coat of arms on the matches is the coat of arms from my home region :) I live about an hours drive away from a major air base where the Swedish Hercules aircrafts have their home hangar, and all JAS 39 Gripen pilots of the world get their training on that specific type of fighter jet. It’s a really cool base to visit when they have air shows open to the public. The little hard candies look like it could be a candy called Nickel which was rather popular when I was younger and even before I was born (I was born in 1985) Nickel can still be found sometimes but it’s not the same as it once was. Just guessing on the candy type based on the shape and size and the pattern on them.
Hey Kellie! Great to be back with a couple new ones tonight - June was the month of filming, research, and writing new tunes. Doing great, thank you! How about yourself?
