Yamaha Grizzly 700 Brake Pad Replacement
This isn't a How To but thought you might like to see how we replaced our brake pads and follow along. I kept calling them brake shoes - but you know..they are pads. You don't have to remove one of the pins (we did on the rear but discovered while doing the front that you don't) - you'll see it in the second half of the video.

From the states here, Connecticut to be exact, and just picked upmthe new Kodiak 700 base. Love it! Of course that means ging onto RU-vid and checking out vids! Dame across your channel, and love it. Been trying to catch up a bit, as you have many videos. Would love to be able to do as much discovering as you and the mrs. do, but it is more frowned upon here. Just bought a house with some good acres, so hope to get more riding in. Anyway, great videos, keep it up bud! The maintenance ones are good, as I will likely use them as needed. A friend from below and Subscriber.

Hi Cubbeezx love your vids I have watched them them all ,would just like to say that if i am having a bad backyard mechanic day your how to vids are the best to help relax me. They let me know that getting upset isn't worth the trouble I wish I could be as relaxed as you all the time, I am not saying that I am over emotional but some days things just don't go according to plan.I would also like to suggest that you save those front pads for future use, they are still good considering you use up the front pads quicker, when the new ones wear out put those on and they should last until the rear ones are ready to be changed.
@cubbeezx
@cubbeezx 8 лет назад
Glad you find the videos helpful and relaxing. I too have some "rough" days where things just don't go right...with the power of editing I can cut those parts out...the "out take reel" would not be family friendly LOL Good idea on those front pads...they had lots of wear left on them so I'm sure we can use them again. Thanks very much for watching and commenting, we really appreciate it!

You failed to mention to remove the cap of the fluid reservoir and wrap a cloth around it, the fluid pushed back up when the pistons are pushed in has to go somewhere, but not on your paintwork.

I need to mention that I didn't remove the break fluid reservoir cap when I did the break pad job. I left the liquid system system closed, might this be the reason that after I replace my break pads that the lever is still spongey?
@cubbeezx
@cubbeezx 5 лет назад
Sounds like you have air in the line. You know, we didn't notice it right away but after we changed our brake pads they felt a bit spongy too. We bled the brakes again and it got better but still not as good as before. Try bleeding the line again..might get just enough air out to make it feel a lot better.
@christophercleveland1191

Hay hi there yes, I have tracks on my ATV, and what I have discovered is that the break fluid can get over heated down buy the caliper and possibly foam up from being over worked and over heated ( causing gas bubbles) So my solution was to replace the the fluid totally and bleed them. Now that are much better. Thank you so very much for getting back to me too....solid work ((-:.

Hello and great video! So after watching your video, i was able to change the break pads with out any issue. That said after trying the breaks, I discovered that the breaks works and stopped, BUT the lever is spongy. After further inspection, i didn't find any leaks in the fluid system, and the fluid is full and looks good, So I am guessing that maybe I have a bad caliper. The breaks do pressure up after a bit of pumping, but still spongy. Any advice?

I love the fact that he is talking about torqueing the bolts back on but is using an wobble extension to torque these bolts. totally wrong. never use an extension when torqueing bolts/nuts down. the extension will twist and give inaccurate torque specs.but the video is good for anyone that needs help doing a brake job on one of these quads.
