The top two seeds from the previous year, and the top two QBs from the '05 draft do battle to kickoff the 2012 season, as Aaron Rodgers' Pack host Alex Smith's Niners in a tight one.
One of the best defenses of all time! Justin Smith (RDE) Pro Bowl Aldon Smith (ROLB) Pro Bowl/First Team All-Pro N. Bowman (LILB) Pro Bowl/First Team All-Pro Patrick Willis (RILB) Pro Bowl/First Team All-Pro D. Goldson (FS) Pro Bowl/First Team All-Pro D. Whitner (SS) Pro Bowl
You are absolutely right and that's why I wanted the 49ers to win a super bowl because those guys deserve it especially Frank or Alex Smith and Vernon Davis.. before Jim Harbaugh came in 2011, The San Francisco 49ers or not just a bad team, they were the worst and it was so bad that they broke records on offense for the most lowest yardage least touchdowns it most pics.. they were considered one of the worst offenses ever but Frank or and Alex Smith and Vernon Davis played what part of those 49er back teams, but all three of them work very hard and faced hardships especially Alex Smith who was drafted number one overall back in 2005 and the next 7 years he has seven different coordinators to head coaches that criticize him publicly back to back and one of those seasons he got hurt and was done for the rest of the year.. that infamous sunny night game against Philadelphia eagles or Mike secretary was chewing him out in the 49ers were bullying and chanting that they want David Carr... He was criticized really bad from the media and 49er fans, and anybody in his position after 2010 season Alex Smith was a free agent but Jim Harbaugh talked to him and convince him to come back because if he was the sign with a different team that most likely he'll be the backup so why not stay in San Francisco or you can be the starter, And after that Alex Smith and the 49ers turned things around, then he went to Kansas City help that team turn around and went to Washington and before he got his horrible injury the Washington Redskins had a winning record and I think please correct me if I'm wrong he is the only quarterback to start for 3 different teams on opening day and yeah people say that he was a gay manager but he was the best gay manager..... Man I'm sorry I want completely off the topic it's just that Alex Smith is one of my favorite players of all time because the way he handled things and the way he faced hardships.. in my opinion he should never got bench,
The 49ers were for real in the early 2010s. Their dynasty could’ve been bigger than it already is. 3 straight NFC championship appearances and 1 Super Bowl appearance. And yes they almost won their 6th in 2019
I think they could have stole one this year since no one knew how to guard Kaepernick. But they got down to the 5 yard line and criminally didn’t go to gore or Kaepernick in the last Super Bowl drive. 2011,2012,2013,2019,2021,2022- all the same story. They can’t fill the qb position properly and it HURTS
haha nope, i didn't even see their upload. i originally tried to post the 2013 playoff game, but as usual it was blocked. and i agree btw, that would've been a great game, but as a Giants fan, i'm satisfied with how it ended up lol
This was a marquee game nonetheless where most of the nation could see it. They can’t replace kickoff week as the giants were the defending champs. No TNF games week 1 obviously. Sunday night seemed fitting for a rematch of a great playoff game the last year along with Peyton switching to a different team, so no, this game wouldn’t have worked. MNF usually has games between an elite team and mid team at best; both these teams were the top of their class in 2011
I remember this game and if I had to make a list of favorite games it will be in like my favorite top 20 but as I remember that season... The 49ers made a super bowl appearance and I always say even though people disagree with me that writing moss was one of the main reasons why we went to the super bowl now if you look at Randy Moss's numbers he only caught three touchdown passes and just a handful of touches but he was a huge decoy so much so that Michael Crabtree had his best season that year.. his numbers were outstanding and I still don't understand why he didn't make the pro bowl that year because he was the best receiver that year... But it wasn't just him who had a great season because of Randy Moss you can say the entire offense as well because you had the defense always worrying about Randy Moss...He play for five seasons and he was at his prime when he was at Minnesota then that great season then he went to the Oakland raiders became a normal right receiver then he went to New England had that unbelievable season with Tom Brady they made the super bowl undefeated and then he went The Tennessee Titans and I don't think he finished his season with them but then he took a year off and then decided to play with a 49ers... I know that he only played this one year with the 49ers but we went to the super bowl and our offense was good that year because of him... He is probably the greatest decoy player we ever seen The only player that I think that comes close is Walter Payton when he played for the Chicago bears when they went to super bowl in '85 against the New England Patriots... The defense of New England just focus on Walter Payton which led to the other offensive players just tearing up the New England Patriots defense... So I am very honored that Randy Moss played for the 49ers.. I really really wish to the 49ers won that super bowl because players like Vernon Davis Alex Smith Frank Gore and Randy Moss they all had to play those awful seasons and Randy Moss never got a super bowl ring which he deserved as well...
I realized that a ton of blame for the downfall of this era goes to GM Trent Baalke and others involved in drafting. They selected a few players who suffered significant injuries in college and even drafted international "project" players rather than adding depth and competition. I'm happy that John Lynch and his staff are not following in Baakle's footsteps.
