It was fun, but expensive. I am planning on listing it on Bring a Trailer Auction soon. If you look through the playlist, you’ll see a video of it whipping a Boss 302 Mustang and a C7 Corvette at the drags.
@@mr.g.beetle watching the auction on bat. Waiting on settlement money. I like this bug. It’s like a rallycross build for the street. These bugs went undefeated for five years in ARX and GRC. I have a blue one and stage one APR. Love the 12ups. Super cool build.
What would you like to know? Let me say this first, to make it work, you have to have someone who can program the ecu to make all the parts work together. If you can find the Instagram account Mr.G.Beetle there are a lot of pictures and a full description of the car.
Mostly new parts or used on Ebay. Quite a bit of fabrication. Spare tire well, driveshaft tunnel, fuel tank, turbo oil feed line, driveshaft shortened, Haldex wiring loom, ECU integration, and huge dent in your wallet. Also, APR no longer sells the Stage III kit. This one is for sale for less than you can build one like it.
@@mr.g.beetle I'd like to do something similar with a 5 speed manual Jetta Sportwagen TDI, wonder if parts from a wrecked Golf R would be cheaper. And if they would fit/what would need to be fabricated
2" lowering springs, Golf R rear sub-assembly, stabilizer bars, brakes. APR 19" flow formed wheels with Continental 255/30R19 tires. Tire size sets 176 mph top speed at redline. I'm going to go back to 18" wheels and 255/40R18 tires as I bend a rim every time I hit a bad pothole. This will give another inch of sidewall to absorb bumps and will set top speed at 183 at reline. I'm looking to fuel and tune for E-85 and hopefully get 100 more hp before I go back to the Texas Mile and see how close I can get to 170-175. It actually might go faster as a front wheel drive as the conversion to AWD increased weight by 260 lbs.
That's what I said when I started tuning my wife's Beetle. Then I bought a Stage III for myself.... Many people I've talked to seem happy with a K04 upgrade and it seems very reliable and not too expensive. Good luck with your project.
Well one year later I'm stage 2 untronic ecu/tcu, cai, USP catted dp, newest dv with spacer, neuspeed chargepipes, and ARM fmic.. next is cts ko4 upgrade.. you were right.. I want morrrrrreee pppoowwaaaa..lol
Don't know. He's seen 162 and was still accelerating. Plus, it has about 60 more hp now. Would like to get it back to the Texas Mile soon. But that only tells you what it'll reach in 28-30 seconds.

@@sirpants4282 1/8th mile 7.555 @ 93.99 mph, ¼ mile 11.85 no speed given, but the my nav said 116 mph. That's with a 315 lb driver. Obviously it would do better with 150 lbs lighter driver.
