Yes they do! New Yamaha carriers and the 2012 drum corps are the first lines to try them out before marching band starts up in the fall.

Me and my 2 compressed discs could probably have used something like that when I marched.

It's pretty different between each writer. Although, the guy's that are endorsed by vic firth tend to have a similar style and and vibe. Like Colin McNutt's and Beddis sound somewhat similar, as opposed to Mcintosh and Beddis are completely different.

You could also put ScoJo in that argument also.

Take the Cavies, and SCV for example. Mike Mcintosh's Beats are distinctly different from Paul Rennicks. Two different writing styles, two completely different sounding lines.

I think it's just you. Most drumlines don't sound the same to me.... The tuning of some lines may be similar but the actual beats are usually pretty unique to whoever wrote them.
