Thanks so very much. I was told the part alone would cost $ 700.00 not including installation. I'm 83 years old but thanks to your very simple and clear instructions , even as stiff as I am I was able to find this at less than half the price I was quoted and do this myself.
WOW! Great instructional video. Saved me a ton of $$$ by repairing my 2012 Chrysler 300C AWD UConnect myself. Purchased the HFM directly from Mopar parts for $267 plus $30 shipping. Received the unit in a couple of days and installed it today. Works fine. However, it took me a couple of hours because I couldn't get at the rear screw holding the unit to the frame. Use a 7mm socket attached to a large socket knob to break it loose. Also, I had a very hard time removing the USB connector because you need to strongly press down on the release tab. The radio connector just pulls out with some screw driver prying.
Ron Jackowski .wow you did have a hard time. Fortunately I didn't have a hard time with my cables and screw. I would gladly spend the time to save some money
Great video Brian, Thanks. I bought a 2013 Chrysler 300C Luxury with 40K miles on it in October 2017 from a Used Car Dealer. BEAUTIFUL car.... Got it home and couldn't get any of our phones to hook up, no voice commands, etc. I thought it was me and I just needed more time to figure out the new car's systems. After a week, I did some online research and tripped over your video. Wow. I bought the module online for $235 +Free Shipping and it arrived yesterday. I just finished replacing the module (11/1/2017), which only took about 30 minutes, start to finish. Fired up the beast and BINGO... hands free/bluetooth works like a charm! Thanks again B...
Turns out one of my family's 3 Galaxy S6 phones wouldn't download its mobile phone book to the Uconnect. Wasn't the module this time.... after several hours of trial and error I isolated the problem to that one phone's contacts list. Apparently it wasn't configured correctly so I had to export all the contacts to another phone, delete all the contacts from the phone having the issue, and then import the contacts BACK to the phone. Re-paired it with the vehicle and now it sees the "phone book" and voice calls by name. MAN... I feel like I should be working for Chrysler...
Brian, Even though it took me a lot longer to do the job than I had anticipated, it was with it. I also gave a feeling of accomplishment for doing the job myself and not paying a dealer a lot of monrey. I would not even attempt the repair without your video. Thanks again!
I found it on Amazon for less than $240 & free shipping. But, it depends on your vehicle so use your VIN and make sure you order the right part #. Good Luck.
This video give me the courage to do it myself. I didn't look at the model number correctly the first time so I lost out on getting the part at a lower price but I'm sure I still save about $200- $300 with not having to pay for labor at the dealership. Thank you sir!
Thanks very much. I saved a lot of money watching your video and buying the telematics module and installing it myself. Although it did take me awhile to do it because the screws are in hard to reach areas but I got the job done. Thanks again.
Right on Pimpin’!!! This was solid! Had the same issue come up on my ‘12 300 late last year. Searched and searched until I found a brand new module for $185. Most of them were $250 and up. The back screw was a b****, but finally got it with a small electrical bending screwdriver. I’m good and back up on Bluetooth calls and music. Straight thumbs up for u putting this across. I would have never known and probably paid the Chrysler dealer that $500 plus depending on which dealer would have been the cheapest. Thanks! 💯
Mate!!! You are a bloody legend. Dealership wamted $1100 aud to fix it. After seeing ur video, went on Amazon got new module for $248usd, with delivery ended up $400 australian dollars less than half and just replaced it. Thk you so much
before replacing try reflashing the module. I had this error and what fixed it for me was I found a German site for Journeys that had the same problem, basicly what you are doing is flashing the module like the dealer would. You do have to have some electronic, computer skills because you have to either get the connector or make one to connect the module to your computer. If your interested let me know, I am not the original person who camew up with this fix,hes the guy on the GErman forum. I do see people on youtube using his method and not giving credit. I am making this because I am trying to get let people know they can do this them selves and not pay some guy that stole the software.
Thank you so much Brian Freeman you are a bloody legend, top bloke right here folks, maybe you could say what web site you got the past from if I was being picky, but thanks again gotr a great New Zealander!!
I had this same issue with my 2013 300c… saw the price of the module and decided to take the module apart and find the issue, they got a little skimpy with the solder. I’m assuming if your car sits outside in direct sunlight the temp change from hot to cold is enough to make those solder connections brittle causing bad connections. I fixed mine in less than 30 min. I’ve done similar repairs to control boards in a lot of furnaces.
It took me a minute but I got it thank u so so much sir 🙏 it work voice command and paired my phone thank u can I give you a tip on cash app you deserve it
is there a fuse for the Bluetooth module I can pull out instead of having to buy a new Bluetooth module? Because I heard that being broken drains the battery.
i bought a 2012 rt with this issue but it has the taZer mods installed, will this reset the radio at all? Or is this just a simple fix to get the Bluetooth working
So I’m taking it that if you have Bluetooth connectivity issues, that replacing this module would probably fix them? I rarely use the phone function to be honest, but I’m constantly having issues trying to connect my phone (and staying connected) to Bluetooth for music purposes.
where did you find your part at? really trying to find a solid deal on it ive been chasing electrical ghosts for a few months now in my 300 this is the last piece to the puzzle
Four years ago the module sold for 200.00 , now it's selling for over 500.00. My advise is to do a online search for the best price but its not cheap anymore 😔
Your dash is slightly different but Dealers normally don't change much as far as parts placement so I'm pretty sure it will be located in the same spot .
Mauro Rodriguez when u select the phone icon and nothing happens then the Bluetooth option will not show up as an option to choose. If this is your issue then your hfm is properly faulty
Hey Brian...I have a 2011 Chrysler 300c...My satellite radio is not working...its saying No signal see dealer for service...Will this module work for satellite radio??
The video clearly says how you get it out. Two Phillip head screws is holding the module. Use a short screwdriver to remove the screws. The hardest part of this job is putting the screws back with the new module
Its always wise to disconnect the battery when working with any electronics on the car. You dont have disconnect the battery to do this job but recommended
You can find the module on Ebay but before buy verify the part with your local dealer. FYI the cost of the module doubled in price but will still be cheaper to install yourself
Try a soft reset to your system to see if that helps.....hold the VR and phone button on the steering wheel for 30 seconds with the car in ACC .turn off the car and open the door for 30 seconds
Brian Freeman I’m able to play radio It’s just when I go try to connect my phone I go to the phone option and from there It just says “Hands free system loading.....please wait”
i got a 2016 Chrysler 300 my Uconnecet was working fine friday i get back in car sunday and it dont work i did the uconnect update system in car, waited for it to update for 35min it updated in my car but i cant connect bluetooth, it keep saying might not be in range but I"m right in front of it, i can connect to calls but not audio, at this point I'm starting to get pissed off, any Ideas ?, cause I"m not paying bunch of $ when can get stereo system installed cheaper than the cost its going be, and if the price went up like you say, that plus dealer price for fixing it is going to be insane
Wow . Unfortunately any fixes to that problem will cost you some cash. Get a diagnostic done because it could be the module. This module controls the Bluetooth aspect of the Uconnect system. If the module pass you properly looking at a bad UCONNECT system. Good luck
The only reset I got from Chrysler is to hold the voice and phone button together with the car in ACC mode for 30 sec. then turn off the car open the door and leave the door open for 30 sec. This did not help
My phone connects wirelessly and will play music, no error message but phone calls do not work thru the car speakers. The dealer said its the module... sound true or are they bs'ing me?
Hey brian, my 2012 Chrysler 300 isn’t able to connect to Bluetooth anymore , when I first got my car Bluetooth worked just fine . I had noticed it had issues disconnecting now Bluetooth isn’t even an option displayed on my screen. I then started using a usb cord to connect my music from my cellular device to play my own music . It was working for just fine but then it wouldn’t allow me to select the song I wanted to play and would just pause the music. Im only 19 and $ is tight . Please help 🙏🏼 to try and save me a trip to the dealership
Sounds like your bluetooth module isn't working properly. If you are not able to connect your phone via bluetooth or the VR button on the steering isn't responding, replacing the module will most likely resolve your problem. If you want to confirm this have your dealer run a diagnostic. The module have gone up in price since I've posted this video. Good luck
Darnell Lee seems like a common problem . follow the video instructions and you can do it yourself. NOTE:use a short Phillips screw driver to get the old module out.
Thanks so much I just changed it now bluetooth works . Crysler said me it would be 450$ plus labour it just cost me 113$ found from scrap yard . Thanks again
Just called Chrysler/Uconnect...They are telling me to update the Uconnect 8.4 system and it should fix the issue. Has anyone tried this approach yet?? Thanks
They were no updates available when I created this video so if an update is available I would try it first because the module is now selling for 500 bucks....yikes
