Get to point. You have a Jaguar XJ and you are buying parts from autozone???? Do the right thing for the car. Most of you guys likes to talk. Who care about your car issues!
Jaguar X351 series are power gluttons. I am the next 250 XF and I could play the radio all night. I think most everyone knows they can only play the radio with the engine off on your ex chairs for a relatively short time. 2013 they added a second small battery to assist the start stop but I actually think the damn thing needs to full size batteries in my opinion. Are you aware that a dead battery is not 0V?!?You only have to go down a single volt for your battery to be dead and need a jump. Lose another and you may need a replacement battery. (You may be able to recharge it, but it may not hold its charge.) People hear the click and say oh you have a bad solenoid or starter or something but they just do not realize how much power I Jaguar needs a GM is the recommended beast and those hold 13V. Get below 12 & it’s iffy. And do you know that jumper cables are voltage rated? (They may only be designed to carry less power than you need.) And don’t get me started on jumper boxes! Someone told me: ‘Oh this is 5,000 Millivolts!’ Guess what?!? That’ss vs ONLY FIVE VOLTS! And even if you have a more powerful one, how long do you think they carry that energy jaguar suggest jumping from another running vehicle and letting it charge your battery after five minutes before attempting to start it. Those jump boxes only push their power for a fraction of a second because the batteries inside are teeny tiny when you compare them to the beasts that we have in our Jaguars. What does work is the big powerful batteries on tow trucks designed to always start them but they don’t want to use jumper cables anymore they just use those little boxes which for I believe for our car are more or less worthless. Batteries are such an issue on the X351 series that in the last few years that they were sold at dealerships, sales people were encouraged to have every new buyer also buy a battery tender along with their new XJ! Short trips can kill your battery idol in the car doesn’t really do much you need to drive under load at least 30 minutes a day if not more. Now, if a battery is just stressed from been trying to start repeatedly (Each attempt takes a little more juice from the battery!) One thing that works for me once when I had too many short trips, and too short of a time was to walk away for a few hours. (Just been near your car with your key fob uses energy because the car assumes you’re gonna climb in and start it so it starts to get things ready for you to drive it.) What happened to me? I came back a few hours later claim then started the car and no issues. But you can be damn sure I drove 20 miles or so to make sure that the battery was charged enough from the alternator.
Most of those battery packs are like 6000 Milla amps that’s one 1000th of one amp-which means they’re like 6 Amps!!! Do you think that’s really gonna do much for a big V8?!?
I have no crank issue on my 2011 xjl 5.0 supercharged . I had power in the vehicle but when i try to start i would hear a tick and nothing happens I tried boosting it still no crank I changed the battery still no crank I got it towed home ordered a starter motor and it arrived after a week and i changed it my car fired up . Next morning i started the car (its parked in my garage) Started no issues got to work parked it there for 8 hours and it was negative 15 degrees Celsius tried starting same tick no crank. At this point i have new battery and starter motor in the car. I let the ignition on and started searching on forums that why it is happening couldn't find anything after about 3 minutes i tried again it started. I thought i just got lucky so i drove home and everything was normal. Shut it off and tried to start and turn of multiple time everything seemed fine. Next morning started fine no issues. Got to work and after 8 hour did the exact same thing. No crank just a tick. So i let the ignition on for 3 to 5 minutes and tried starting again she fired up. So anytime my car is parked in cold weather when its below 10 degrees or colder i have to let the ignition on then start it after 5 minutes.
