On this model Mini Cooper changing the fuel filter is no small task. It is the same filter as other models but getting to the fuel filter requires significant disassembly of the interior. Good luck. Oh by the way Mini dealer wants $750 for this job via tank removal. I did this job at 50,000 miles and I have to say that was unnecessary as the fuel filter had no deposits that I could see building up inside the pleates. Of course it depends on how dirty the fuel is in your area and if you’re having problems with your delivery. If you’re doing this as a general maintenance item I think I’d recommend it be done at 100,000 mile intervals.

Thank you for the video - I am going to try to loosen the passenger panel to allow the flexibility without geting under the side panel. Then I'll try to get the speakers and floor piece out of the way to access the fuel filter assembly. That's the plan to avoid some of the more painful areas..

Good information, I made the change in an r56, I struggled greatly to put the seal, I could not do it, until later I did the same procedure as you and I succeeded, you explain this step very well. Cheers

every step was very clear. well done. get a tripod, make it easy on yourself. phone dash mount on a stick with a magnet on it.

I've done this job both ways, it is FAR easier to drop the gas tank.

Hol...lee..shit. Could you imagine if Ford or Chevy did this? There would be class action lawsuits and all kinds of bad press. Anyway..not looking forward to doing this on my R59 :(

Well hard to say. It would have been hard to have patience with all the small plastics pieces. I would’ve pulled it from the bottom. That’s just me. We have a 2012 country man 4 door. I suspect the fuel filter is bad and had no idea how to replace it
