So the dealership told me it would cost ~$200 to replace this cooler but they also called me later that day to let me know that the ~$200 cooler would damage my transmission because its not made by mitsubishi. They called again to ask if i can come in to pay for the $800 cooler & i said no. glad i found this video!
$850?? I found one online for $100 lol, that's proof that stealerships are a scam. I took my Lancer to change my oil once and they called me telling me I need to clean my throttle body. I told them I had it done a month before, and they told me that maybe I didn't do it properly. THEY were the ones that did it a month before. Absolute scam. Anyway, rant over. Thanks for this video!
Ok it's funny that someone liked this comment while my group chat was talking about scammy dealerships. My friend was told her Hyundai Elantra needed a new cabin air filter, after 22k miles, and that it's gonna cost her $80. Thankfully we all told her no, because it's really just $20 and a one minute job. Amazing how badly they try to get money out of people.
Very good video, I just bought my daughter a 2013 Outlander Sport and looks like it has one of those coolers. That's a good thing because these CVTs a very weak compared to a standard transmission, they need all the help they can get. I added an after marked cooler to my 2013 Altima Coupe along with drain and fill the fluid and so far so good.
Thanks for this video.. I got a quote for a new cooler = $790 + 2 new lines $60 each + 3hours of labor over at Ammco Transmission over here in Toronto Canada. Total bill would have been around $1300
Benjamin Stone I just filled the transmission with fluid then started it up. The amount of fluid that gets pumped through there would take about 5 seconds to fill it up. After a few minutes there was no signs of air in the fluid or by the sound of the pump.
i have 2017 lancer GTS AWC (Canadian car) i dont have this cvt oil cooler . Why some lancer has this oil cooler and the newer once donot come with this oil cooler , anyone knows why ?
Kendor Farms. I am trying to figure it out...they are big and are really easy to see just by opening the hood is on the small line that goes to the top of the radiator in front of the cap... I am trying to find out if the car really need that because on mine 2008 is there and the 2010 i believe and up doesn't show any of that on the diagram.... Some people i talked say it woukd be bad running the car without that... Bad i still have my doubt i believe it could be bypass .
I recently bought an 09 Lancer DE. On longer drives (about an hour +) I'll get the slow down message. I changed the tranny fluid a little bit ago but I'm still having the problem. Do you think it'll be better to swap out to a GTS cooler? Just wondering
@@187Doug You need to replace the CVT oil and the 2 oil filters, there is a typical one and there is another right in the front its exactly like a little oil filter. www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-OEM-Mitsubishi-CVT-Transmission-Oil-Cooler-Filter-with-O-Ring-/382249708229
Replacing the cooler fixed it... not sure if either it was plugging up or because it was leaking on me and I never noticed, and perhaps it was low on fluid cause the pump to make noise. Ever since the whining noise has gone away
Kendor Farms awesome. I’m contacting dealers tomorrow. They said they were able to fix this issue as it was a known problem. I have a 2013 outlander and I don’t think they installed a trans cooler
That could means your transmission fluid pressure is low Check the level Also have you changed the fluid ? Did you change both Filters ? There are two One in the transmission pan And one which is a paper cartridge that must be changed There are videos on how to do it.
+MMICONS I used a Mitsubishi J4 (J1) CVT Transmission Fluid equivalent rather then buying from the dealer. It was hard to find, but found it at our local Canadian Tire.
Thanks a lot !! I do really appreciate it ! , I have another silly question ... where do you pour the new CVT Cooler fluid into ? like is there a little place to fill that transmission cooler fluid ? or is just the CVT Fluid the regular one that you put in the CVT ?
Yo I bough a cooler for my transmission looks pretty much the same as urs and all that But mine does not come With one by factory the thing is I dont know how to instal it cuz I dont know the lines I can send you a video of mine when I remove My battery you can see the lines going somewhere also my radiators looks as if it have a line going into it
The Random Gamer yep, you got it! There will be a small amount in the lines and cooler itself, but the transmission pump would need to be running to loose it all from out of the transmission.
I'm having serious issue with my tranny it gives me the "slow down" notification when I'm going up my freeway like climbing I lose power is the cooler the issue ? please help
Anthony Holiday Could be a plugged cooler, but I'd take it to the dealer and have them diagnose it. That shouldn't cost much if anything at all, then you'll know what direction to head in.
