In this video, I will show you how to replace the fusible and positive battery terminal connector on a 2012 Nissan Sentra. Link to positive battery terminal on Amazon. smile.amazon.c...
I have the exact same problem. That nut u called "impressive ", ive called it a few other words. This vid will sure help when i do this tomorrow. Thanks a lot.
That made me giggle, if you could see the footage that didn’t make it in the video. I didn’t call it “impressive “. Glad the video helped you! Be sure to like and subscribe!
Very helpful video. I have a 2012 Altima with the same positive terminal set-up. It's just ridiculous the way they manufacture things these days. I still have the factory battery as of 10/31/19 and it's still cranking like a champ. The whole starting issue was with that stupid positive terminal set-up.
I think the only reason they will do it, it makes them easy money. Man you got the good battery out of the bunch. Man, its what took down my mom's Infiniti. Be sure to like, subscribe, and hit the bell icon.
Goodness gracious for the love of Pete you really need to do two things: you need to Chuck those vice grips for loosening that nut on top of the positive cable clamp assembly. You need to use the fly scripts to hold the clamp assembly while you loosen that top nut with an 11 mm socket and ratchet wrench. Oh and you some WD-40 to loosen the grime it'll make that job a whole lot easier.
Great video! I was cracking up at 2:00... "see the absolute experience of hellaciousness!" Such a perfect description of what you were filming. Hahaha! Will be installing one of these on my Frontier. Thanks for all the details!
My brother and I are trying to fix our parents Nissan Xterra with the same ridiculous wonky right angle gizmo. I think ours is so bad we will have to replace the cable as well. Any tips for when we tackle that project?
Gavin Boothe well, first off. I would try using a cleaner on the cable first to see if that would help. You can replace the cable, I imagine it’s hooked into the main wiring harness. Sounds like a pain to fix. Can you send me a photo of the cable?
Thank you! Same issue with a 2011 Titan. Ordered the fuselink, terminal connector, and a new battery (it was due to be replaced). Really appreciate the walk -through. A+
Looks about the same as my 2013 altima terminal. The terminals get so corroded it's a bitch to get it off without breaking the whole thing. Mins corroded on the side too.
Hi there, i saw how you removed the terminal which is great but how you removed the cable connector from the terminal? (There are few fuses there) I can disconnect it. Pls help Thanks
The corrosion on the nut will not release before the plastic housing snaps. You WD40 all you want , equals zero movement. The real challenge is getting harness off.
Your video help me the most... it was exactly what I was going thru🤦♂️..I actually felt like it was going to be another costly robbing experience to get that positive terminal replaced let alone Fixed by a mechanic. I am so grateful you took time to help the working Joe out and make this video🎊🥳🎉🥳🎊 Thank You from Guam USA!!!
Glad to help man, tell me about getting robbed by a shop. Lol, working stiff too buddy, trying to help another working man out. Be sure to like, subscribe, and hit the bell icon.
@viktorherrera2227 the shop was trying to get the whole assembly changed out ... I used the small impact drill and the the nut to unlock.. not a mechanic so the experience was a bit of thing and the video at the least gave some options
Just did this on my 2011 Maxima ! Worked like a charm ! I only replaced first part because mine was not as bad ! Car did not start yesterday and only had lights on ! Replaced that and we good to go ! Thanks !
Wish I had come across this before. Our 2010 Cube had intermittent start issues. I replaced the battery (there was major corrosion going on). Still had start issues. Had the electrical system checked twice by 2 different places and they stated everything looked good. Finally, had it checked by Nissan and they stated it was the starter. Had that replaced (Ouch!) and still have starting issues. Now I have come to realize it looks to be the positive cable that is bad, pretty confident about that. I think I will need to replace that as in this video. I will do it myself. Thanks for doing this video.
Had a coworker with 2007 Nissan van, doors would respond to the clicker, they thought bad module. I said lets replace the connector, boom fixed the issue. Replace it and see what happens.
I have a 2016 Altima. Changed the alt and battery and got I-key system error, my terminal fuse connector is sparking bad and charring when I connect power to it. The fuse is blown on the terminal and this is causing me so much headache
So let me get this right you can’t use no different terminal but the one it originally comes with correct? Please my terminal broke my car stopped turning on so I’m buying the terminal from Nissan and putting it on my car hopefully it turns on if not I’ll need the fuse box also but at this moment I don’t think my fuse box got damaged By the way I have a Nissan Sentra 2011
This is currently happening to me right now with my 2014 Nissan Maxima having a hard time taking the bolt off as well what’s the name of the black plastic part so I can look it up on amazon
Sorry for the late reply. This should be the part you need, it's called a fusible link. smile.amazon.com/Connector-2005-2015-Pathfinder-24380-89914-2438089914/dp/B0757BT55Y/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=36KCNI8TCEGWT&keywords=nissan+fusible+link&qid=1579873803&sprefix=nissan+fus%2Caps%2C277&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzS01NSFdFUThHRDUzJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNTc5MTg5M0VBV0ZZS0QwWjY1WSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMzYwNDQzM0EwMjBNMTkzT0IyViZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
Does the connector (wires) have labels on them on how to connect them ? I have the same issue (corroded and car won't start, just flicking sound and dashboard). Also, the last piece of the video, after you replaced the fuse, you still got the same clicking sound and you said it's the battery ? Does the battery need to be manually charged after ?
Hi my partners nissan micra has a fuse hole like this as I can see the 80a fuse link has broken on it if I order the correct part for her model is there Much risk of causing any problems by replacing this piece myself the cars pretty clean around the bolts etc and had a new battery few months ago so don't think any of it needs a clean just the strip is broken in the 80a
Shouldn't be a problem to replace it yourself. Make sure you disconnect the negative first. Take your time. Thank you, don't forget to subscribe, like, and hit the bell icon.

Do you happen to remember or does anyone know the part number for the replacement?
If you call any places such as Autozone, Advance Autoparts, O’rreillys, ETC Just ask if they have any battery fuses for Nissans make sure the fuse is (225A) not (140A)/(180A)
DeCarlos Williams glad to help! I hope it fixes the issue for you! Just remember to take your time and it will get done. It took me two days to fix this one.
Seriously! Nice to hear it wasn’t just me. Trying to fix it for my parents. Their Nissan was so corroded and crapped up that I will probably have to replace the cable too. What a messy goupy corroded mess essentially all hardened together in a primordial ooze concrete substance. My mazda hasn’t had anything at all and doesn’t have this ridiculous contraption either with all the right angle plastic fuse pieces. I don’t know what the world Nissan is thinking with this porked out gizmo they concocted.
@@z66ka I forgot where I saw it, but you could let a Ozone Generator run for an hour so and kill all living things inside your car along w/any bad odors.
great video, this is EXACTLY what happened to mine, the corrosion is ridiculous, I also could not get that nut if, it was as if it was welded on. THANKS
So my link broke as your did and my car was dead. 07 Sentra. Replaced it, the terminal and got a new battery. The car started but then I had no power to any of my gauges in the cluster. No power to cluster as a whole. And now the car has died again and won’t start. Super weird! Any ideas?
Thanks man! I bought a 2011 Sentra SER spec v thinking “ oh yeah that’s something you don’t see every day” Well I guess there’s a reason why they didn’t sell very many of these. The design of the entire car is just a headache to work on. Thanks for the vid! I’m gonna go buy me a terminal to replace mine.
Yes, they deliberately make it like that. You have to buy the parts entirely and separately, including the nut.i couldn't get that damn nut of .them they dint have the parts on hand at the dealership, you must order it. I hate Nissans customer service
Jerry Metz yeah, it seemed like a cash grab method to me. Our local dealership is less then stellar also. Sorry, the trouble you had with it. I hoped the video helped you. Don’t forget to like and subscribe.
It is the same part they use on lot of cars, replaced the same thing on my mom's 2004 Infiniti FX 35. Don't forget to like, subscribe, and hit the bell icon.
To be honest, my buddy ended up ordering it. Don’t have the link, you can just find the of Amazon. Glad the video helped you! Be sure to like and subscribe!
Yikes - my fusible link is in the same terrible condition. I might save myself the trouble and replace the whole thing like you did. Great video man, and thank you!!!
So let me put it like this, if the Bolt won’t come off the battery terminal you need a new battery terminal because gooood luck getting that off without breaking it
Replaced the fusible link... Went to start it, heard the starter then it just quit. The fuse blew AGAIN!!! What is killing the fuses? (I saw on a forum where a guy used a different fusible link for another car, but it worked.)
@@z66ka @z66ka Done (Firestone changed spark plugs, air boot/duct= $1300.oo later, fusible link) SAME issue. Probably gonna try what we saw in the Nissan forum, a double fuse(250) fusible link. Maybe replace wires from battery to starter and ignition. (Too much $ invested already. Can't trust another shop.)
Bighill yep, Nissan used this on all their vehicles and it’s just not a very good design. It will cost you from 50-75 if you go to the dealer for the parts you need. Thanks for the comment, I hope my video helped you.
Bighill yeah, it's a scam. I missed 2 days work. I'm supposed to get it tomorrow. At a dealership 10 miles away. And the entire kit is sold in pieces, fuseable link, the terminal connector, the nut. $67, $23 and $.99 respectively..2015 rogue BTW ,which the ac hasn't worked properly since I bought it
Jerry Metz it’s a shame how they are treating the customers with this part and having to get everything separately. My boss had Nissan Juke that the AC died on. It seems like it’s a common failure point on the vehicles.
rav yes and no, the hardest part was just getting a good grip on the clip to pop it off. Not a ton of room for my fat hands, otherwise super easy. Be sure to like subscribe, like, and hit the bell icon.
It was a pain, I used needle nose pliers to pull the clip up and pull it off. Dude, you will feel like are you are breaking it, to get it off. Don't forget to like, subscribe and hit the bell icon.
No, but the car was only day for about 3 days, so month or more, probably will did it on its own. Thanks for watching, don't forget to hit the like, subscribe, and bell icon.
