Awestruck ! I truly hope that the kids of today would appreciate the skill and tireless dedication to rebuilding these timeless pieces. Generation radio, is fading into the ether. This is a prime example, of the importance that radio was, to the nation and how it bound us all, into a cohesive culture. Thank you.
+viking90706 I certainly do. I can not let american quality craftsmanship go into the trash for some cninese piece of junk. My latest one was a 1949 Zenith Wooden Tube radio.
+viking90706 Actually I'm 18, and just recently I dug up a really old wooden radio in our basement. Since then I've been really interested in old radio stuff and I really want to collect them one day. Radio was really important all over the world as well, not even just the US which is pretty incredible. I was born during the period where radio was getting slowly killed by the internet, but I'm really confident that it'll never truly die. Even if it does, I think it'll be remembered very fondly, just as things like vinyl records. There's always going to be some kid like me who digs up an old radio and says "Hey, these things are actually pretty cool"

A wonderful tribute to a talented man. I have about 60 - 70 in my collection right now. I plan on making this hobby a source of income when I retire. Right at the end of the video, you showed a Zenith "Walton's" radio, a wonderful model. My "holy grail" model would be a Zenith Stratosphere. A 5 speaker console with magnificent sound and beauty. Bravo !!

I Always liked Old Radios, In those Days they had Tubes in them, usually 5-7 and now and then a Tube would burn out like a light bulb, and You would Go down to the Drugstore and Get a new one. When You turned those Radios on they would take maybe 15 to 30 Seconds to Warm up because of the Tubes. The Tubes Performed The Functions that modern Semiconductors now Perform. I Remember My Grandma had a Tube Radio next to Her Bed up till the mid 70s, She Loved it till it Quit! My Granddad Was Crazy about Technology and New things so He Had One of The Earliest Solid State Radios! (Transisters) I had a few old tube Radios that worked I had bought in a Thrift Store Cheap in the 80s, When I moved I had to get rid of Everything including about 100 Old Tubes, some were new in boxes that i had collected.I havent seen them available like that for Years. I didnt have Zeniths but I had an Arvin, a Westinghouse, and a GE that was I think From the 40s.
What a wonderful trip down memory lane! The charm of old tube radios and the memories they invoke is truly something special. Those tubes, the warm glow, and the distinct sound they produce have a nostalgia that modern devices can't replicate. It's amazing to hear about your personal experiences and the connection you and your family had with these radios. If you cherish these memories and want to explore more from the golden era of radios, consider subscribing. Here's to preserving and celebrating the echoes of the past! 📻✨🔊

If only someone had catalogued and photographed Ted Rogers' entire radio collection and published a coffee table book before it had been all been sold off to collectors. That would have been amazing.

Liked and subscribed. I once had about 100 radios in my collection. All on display in the living room of a one bedroom apartment! I even had little cards with the make and year next to them like his. Tabletops on tall bookshelves, consoles all around. Regretfully had to sell most of my babies. But kept the consoles, prewar, and favorites for posterity🙂 @@benplikerdsminute

It's a shame that our kids don't inherit our passions and pass them generations along. Kids just wanna drink and play video games. What a lost generation. Madness.
It's understandable to feel that way, especially when observing the rapid changes in our society. Each generation has its own set of interests and challenges. While it's true that some traditions and passions may not be passed down in the same way, new passions and innovations arise. I'm familiar with the Emerson brand, which produced a range of radios over the years. The Emerson U6L model would be one among their line-up. Typically, Emerson radios from the mid-20th century are known for their Art Deco and Streamlined designs, bakelite casings, and sometimes their "Ingraham" cabinets. If you're keen on learning more about vintage radios in general and seeing more collections like Ted's, consider subscribing to channels or websites that regularly feature such content. Good luck with your Emerson U6L! 📻🌟

You're absolutely right! The video focuses more on the radios displayed on the shelf, but there's a reason for that. Console floor model radios are quite large, and in some cases, difficult to film in detail. However, I appreciate your feedback, and I'll definitely keep it in mind for future videos. If you enjoyed the collection, consider subscribing for more antique radio content and perhaps a closer look at those floor models in the future! 📻👍😊
I'm not sure about the specific location of the collection showcased in the video. It could be in his personal space or a dedicated area for display.
