Thanks for the video. I tackled this yesterday when I had a few hours and it went very smoothly - and it finally fixed the no-start problem on my daughter’s car! It even started this morning at 16 F which probably wouldn’t have even worked with a jump with the old starter.
I paid $350 dollars for a re-manufactured alternator from Autozone for my 2013 Kia Soul this passed Sunday. Ridiculous. So I understand how you feel. I came here to find out how to replace a starter because I figure that's next to fail. Thanks for the info.
Excellent video! I replaced the starter on my 2016 Kia Soul+ about 6 months ago. I got mine from the Kia dealer for mere $314.00! I wish Kia would provide some type of water shield to protect the starter. The starter is located so that any and all water / salt / brine / dirt that makes it through the radiator lands on the starter. If the fan happens to run the starter gets drenched! The starter that I removed was also rusted / corroded badly (56K miles; NYS car)

Couldn't you have unbolted the starter and let it hang for better access to the solenoid/lead wire nuts you decided to cut? I've run into a similar situation with corrosion and limited access. I guess if the cut was quick and didn't cause excess damage elsewhere then either way works.
Is this going to be the same or roughly similar to a 2012 kia soul starter replacement? I've searched everywhere and haven't seen a single video or guide for a 2012 replacement so hopefully this is the same!

Tried to replace mine today and I think I couldn’t the new starter on because of the different size bolts. I think tried to hard to put the smaller bolt at the top instead of the bottom SMH that’s why I couldn’t fit the starter in there
My friends kia has a starter issue. We tried to bypass the solenoid but I only hear the starter motor spin up but not engage to the engine. Am I missing something? Lol
Not clicking. It was nothing. No noise at all. Just keep turning key over and over untill its finally started. U might have better problem ! Not enough power to turn over engine. Make sure u check your battery first
Same things just started happening to my 2013 kia soul 6 speed, it was parked for a day and next day went to start it and made the same click noise but all my lights was working and my dashboard as well, please help if you got any info thank you:(

This was good but.... so.... what was the problem you were having... You didn't mention what it was doing... Was there nothing when turning the key ? Was it clicking ? was it only doing it sometimes ? All the time ??? You forgot the most important part... Lol !
