My first video made for RU-vid and the first time I have ever installed a hitch on a vehicle. This is my 2015 Mirage DE. I chose to take a different approach compared to the manufacturer's recommendation because the install instructions called for elongating holes in the frame, which I did not want to do.
Bear with the shaky video, as I am still trying to figure out what I am doing. Video was taken with my Samsung Galaxy S5 Active, hopefully it provides decent sound and picture quality.

We want to go camping in our Mirage but we need to put a roof universal rack on top and then a basket rack so we can just put light items like our tent and so on do you think that's okay to put on these cars? My husband says no cause the roof bends when you press on roof like the metal is very thin. Thanks

I love the mirage and would like to get the G4 Mirage sedan, but I wouldn't tow with the 3 cylinder.

I checked the curt you suggested on amazon. Apparently, it doesn't fit a 2018 Mirage GT. Do you have any other suggestions?

What is the towing capacity of your Mitsubishi Mirage? I got a 2014. As in, how much can it pull and safely brake while towing something.

I read up on it, I believe it’s only 500 lbs. probably just enough to pull a very small trailer.

are you just using this for a bike rack like you mentioned??? I have a weird desire to pull a micro camper behind a mirage or a fiat for a few road trips.

Thomas Splitttorff hey sorry for the late reply, but yes, just for a bike rack. I truly wouldn't trust this car with much more than that. It does seem to struggle a bit with 2 or 3 bikes and some cargo in the trunk

The car struggles to reach highway speeds by the end of most ramps and cvt transmissions are pretty notorious for exploding if you put any more strain on them than the weight of the vehicle and a few passengers. If you have a manual and it is a TINY(as in like 200lbs) trailer, maybe....

Alex Beltran I'm not quite sure. I would think so since they are pretty much the same body. Check on the hitch manufacturers website just to be certain

Do.you really need to remove rear bumper to.install?

templo you don't need to. The instructions actually call for you to drill a few holes larger that already exist. I chose to remove the rear bumper in order to avoid having to drill larger or new holes

I'm able to access those hole as well without taking bumper....I'm in the same boat as you... I dont want to drill holes

templo if I remember correctly, you have to drill to be able to fit the bolt up through to drop it down with the capture plate piece on it. The bumper is only a few clips and fasteners to remove so well worth it
