I got a 13 bone stock Mustang GT I bought new on January 12, 2013, currently has 24,834 miles on it. Lund tuned from AM handheld tuner in April 2015. Muffler delete by Pypes, stock cold air with K&N filter, staggered 18x9 with 255/40 Michelin 4s front, 18x10 285/40 Michelin 4s I run race tune w 93 premium pump gas. She's a Candy Red beast.

The amount of gen 1 mustangs I seen running 13s I felt like a boss running 12.5 in my street tire stock 14 with lund tune. I know im not the fastest but being my first stick shift v8 car I was proud of it. Lund ftw! Love the content Alex

I believe this approach is very helpful to people who are trying to understand the effects of various changes to a stock vehicle. I am particularly interested because I have a 2014 Mustang GT, Brembo package, and it's even the same color. Your advice regarding the street/strip tire sizes makes perfect sense. While there may be reasons that you would chose a different combination, the stock 19"x9" wheels and 255/40R19 tires (746 revs/mile) match up great with 18"x10" wheels and 285/40R18 tires (748 revs/mile). I chose Forgestar D5 wheels and M/T ET Street S/S tires and run the same tune settings for both the street and the track, even though I am changing them over at the track. My best ET, completely stock at Bradenton, was 13.11@107MPH in June of 2023. In November, running the drag radials (and lower DA) brought that ET down to 12.83@108MPH. Obviously, your car with the Lund tune and drag radials would run even better than that on a prepped surface.

I just recently purchased a 2019 Bullitt that is absolutely bone stock. My ngauge showed up to -6 knock (adding timing) on Shell 93 octane fuel at WOT. On the unknown fuel at purchase, 1/4th tank, it was adding up to +2 to +3 knock (pulling timing) at WOT.

Simple mods on a bone stock Mustang....this is what made MM&FF so great in the late 80s and early 90s. Actual factual data, not "it feels like a BEAST..." forum fodder. When I had a 14GT MT82, my best times stock were 12.92 @ 108 and 13.03@110, with like 1200 miles on it. Ford Racing Track Cal got it down to 12.76@112mph, Lund tune 12.62 @ 113mph in warmer temps. Brembo car with 3.73s, stock SQUID Pirellis...Michigan 93 is top notch fuel. Greg at the time remarked how there was absolutely no knock present on any log, even adding additional timing.

@@sway329 in terms of the motor, CAI and flowmaster catback lol that’s it. I have a shitload of suspension mods mostly, paired with some 275s and 305s in the rear. I drive like a grandpa most of the time so I just want a ride with a good ass suspension in my honest preference. But I also want to wake up the coyote a bit so I’ve been looking for a tune for a while. Lund is def gonna be my go-to.

Get Continental extreme contact sport, or Michelin pilot sport 4s. Best street tires out there. Super good in rain too

@elboss3023; I’ve run a set of both and they are good. I’m rolling Cooper Zeon RS-3’s and they work as well as continental and Michelin pilot sport 4. My setup is staggered on my 13 GT manual.

I didn’t know about the tire size effecting the tune. My lund tune is for 275/35/18 but I’ve switched between 255’s and now on a 245/50/18 in the rear.

Still rocking my 2014 GT that I purchased in 2016. It was lund tuned 1 month after I bought it. It's still lund tuned lol. Oh and you dropped 3 tenths even while spinning on that 1-2 shift.

I was 9 when the Gen 1 came out. These cars will be the fox body of my era! These cars are relatively light weight and basic bolt ons will surprise you. Get you a set of good rods and make up to 800 whp on E85. Badass!

You'll need pistons also as the pistons and rods are both hypereutectic. But yes, change the pistons, rods, and oil pump gears, and you'll be good for 800-1000+ wheel with good fuel! 👍😁

Fuel sensor will be a game changer, I will be dropping Boostane and the car will adjust, the heck the car will adjust to racing fuel too, game changer, now I have to wait for getting a tune until that system comes out

1st thing i did with my bone stock previous 2013 Coyote was LU47 injectors, Kooks LT headers, E85 tune, and pretty much full suspension.

Switched my tire from a 295/65/15 to a 275/60/15. Guess it's time to get the tune tweaked. Next purchase will be an LRX! Also looking forward to see how Alex sets up his catch can/breathers.

And you are THE ONLY person who ive seen do any kind of comparison between bone stock with factory tune and bone stock with a tune. I had this trouble when shopping for a cold air for the boss manifold swap(I couldn't find the stock boss intake tube anywhere at the time) I wanted to get the most out of the setup and nobody had an apples to apples comparison to prove it was the intake that made the gain and not the tune itself.

I've been playing around with my 3V mustang while I'm putting together what I need to Coyote swap it, and I've ran it 100% stock, with an 87 tune, and with a 93 tune. 87 tune was a slight improvement over stock, 93 was a much bigger improvement. It does chirp the tires now, and it didn't before. It was just interesting to experience the same things that Alex just experienced. A tune only DOES make a difference, even on a slow ass 3V. I think the reason why people always do a tune + CAI is because the "bang for the buck" feel because you hit two birds with one stone, but unfortunately most CAIs really are a waste of money and the gains of tune only vs tune +CAI are really just a wash.

This makes me feel pretty damn good about my 14 manual and my driving ability...all I have done is a boss manifold (stock cold air), "free flowing" exhaust with stock headers, and a not lund tune(I know, I know, I got it done before I knew shit about the coyote tuning game) and I'm running a 12.59 @ 113 on the dragy on shit roads with shit tires.....with the stock clutch! Unfortunately on my last hit I finished off the 3rd gear syncro so now it grinds the 2/3 every time. Oh well, guess it's time for a rebuild and a clutch!

A Lund tune only on a 6r80 gen 1 makes a BIG difference. I just had a 91 tune with cat deletes. Before the tune I tested with buddies g37 if beat him about 2 cars. After the tune alone was about a bus. No comparison

What about next step of the new tires, completely burn the mixed gas and get a log with zero tire spin and as little knock as possible. The new tire might skew your current data and reducing knock might also skew the current stock tune data.

Alex thanks for the content, instead of a Nitto G2 look at the newer NT555RII tire...needs a little more heat than a MT SS but on my Lund tuned Boosted Gen/A10 their 0-60 was slightly better on virgin 2 lane, same exact size apples to apples yet they were damn good in rain...smoother and balanced easier ...even cheaper....great all around daily tire that last twice as long as the literal 30prs of SS radials I've purchased over the years... SS like a clean and go, that newer Nitto likes a bit more heat...

Do the same for gen2 bone stock, manual. I’m curious to see what the cheapest tune on a bone stock manual looks like. Automatic transmissions shifting is dramatically improved with a tune, I’m curious of motor performance only, manual if you can please 93 octane vs e85, impressions and a dyno please Also SIA is awesome, very emotionally intelligent music

Very nice video so if i did understand corectly yo can go wider tires but must respect rev per mile.so it won t effect the tune. Also was surprised to see the rpm go red did not think mine could do that never came red like yours 😄

If you're an auto not tuned you won't see that light. If you're a manual you just have to run her out past 7k to see it. My 13' is a manual, so the computer/transmission can't tell me when to shift, so I saw that light on the test drive! 😂

My 14 seems to see 3d of knock right when u stuff it on 93 michigan gas. At wide open throttle no knock. This ole gorl needs a lund tune

Funny how a stock car on 93 will knock, but all of a sudden you can make 880 on 93 hahaha. Glad this is dumbed down and easy to see for some people. Is tune modification needed with gen 2 or 3 with tires size or gear change?
