This is the Most Amazing H.S. Band I have ever seen! I have watched them for years. Their Sound is AWESOME! I LOVE this band.... and my kids don't even go to this school. When they come to our H. S., I make sure that I am there....even if it is just to see this Fantastic band! Thank you Allen H. S. Marching Band!!
Nice to hear those from other high schools appreciate the Eagles Band. Our son played trombone all 4 years of high school, and graduated in Spring 2016. I must say, however, the 2016 UIL "Cyclone" performance was the best I've seen, after a new director came in that had DCI experience (Drum Corp International). Hopefully the 2017 program will improve on that. It's VERY difficult to design a program for a band so large.
I'm guessing the money comes from the extra funds the school has since Allen has only one high school. Could be taxes though. Who knows. All I know is that we could use a few more than twenty buses tbh. Hella crowded.
Yeah. It's fun to be in a big band though. You get to know everyone in it at least a little, and it's like one gigantic family. We pretty much live in our band hall and performing arts center. It's super fun, like every other band, I just wish our shows could have cooler themes, but we take up to much space to do anything besides making shapes. ;w;'
Tristen, Summer band camp starts July 31st, 7:30am - 3:00pm every week day, until school starts. There's also a "Marchathon" in which the band marches all over Allen, through Lowes, etc. The band is like a large family... the kids all look after each other. Our son loves it.
yeah i know about the heat i live in south Louisiana lol. heat index was 111 for saturday practice. but if they have the problems with kids talking instead of staying quiet lie we do, and having to fix drill and uncoordinated marchers, then it must suck.
Haha, yeah, that's true. Lots and lots of people chatting and not paying attention lucky for us, Mr. Hinton doesn't notice as much because it's too many kids to watch at once. ^^'
I've not personally seen how it's done, but suspect it's very carefully, with MUCH attention to detail... and with a LOT of perseverance! My understanding is special software is used to design the formations and movements between them. I believe it can print out an individual 'drill plan' for each member.
Holy hell there is more color guard that what spring high school has... I can't believe this XD I thought the size my schools marching band was big with 220 but I guess not XD
The challenge is finding space for the marching routines. The one they're working on this year is quite interesting. I just posted that at: 2014 Allen Eagles Halftime UIL Show: "Rings"
This year we're going to the Rose Parade! Can't wait to see what our show looks like this time, the music is really great and we have four movements instead of three. :3
Steven C Jones Plus Allen High School is the ONLY high school in Allen ,Texas(Population is around 90-100k ),so the community needed a bigger stadium. And the stadium brings in a lot of money since every game gets sold out every year.I would like to go to Allen, the atmosphere there and tailgating must be pretty fun.And it's cool seeing a huge school like Allen, looks like small D1 college lmao
No, but I think it's a pretty good percentage because they have so much fun... it's like a BIG family, or club. For example, my son's first year when the Freshman reported for Band Boot Camp, the upper class-men all lined up along the sidewalk into band hall, and cheered / applauded the incoming new band members. Last Friday was the annual "Watermelon Bust" where the band performs, has family members come out on the field to learn how to march, and they celebrate the final day of Boot Camp, which was held EVERY weekday in August until school started, today.
this band is too big marching band is about the the formations and the programs, a band that size is too jumbled and cramped up there's no fluid motion
But that doesn't mean that we should just stop all together right? Yes, we certainly are a big band, but we love it. I know where you're coming from, but we're just a high school band.
Shouldn't judge us off this performance. The band went under a massive change, in terms of marching technique, and the way we operate - in 2013 it was more a fun band, but the directors are currently trying to transition it into a much more competitive band. In 2016, Allen placed 9th in their Area C prelims and 8th in the finals. (Mind you, Area C is the most difficult Area in Texas, it has multiple bands with loads of state titles). 2016 was much better. And the show for 2017? Already much better.
altx you guys should do a thing where you have to audition to be in the marching band, so only the best make it in and they make badass shows. i mean idk the rules in texas (in Florida marching band is required) but it would be cool
Al, Yes, I agree it's a LOT for a HS Football Stadium, built by the City of Allen. And considering it's currently closed because of some construction issues that have caused cracking, it's outrageous. BUT, when you go there and watch a great football game, with incredible half-time entertainment, it somehow diminishes the SHOCK factor of the cost. I hope you can attend a game there...
It is beyond me how our schools are rune down --homeless people--homeless Vets, sick people needing health care and old people cant afford there meds and you justify that price tag for something you can even use ,that's Outrages !
Al Bryant No, it's Texas High School Football. And the stadium is closed because the Architectural firm and Construction company screwed it up.... they are paying for repairs, while the Seniors this year are all missing playing in that huge stadium that they all LOVE.
This was decided by Allen VOTERS in a bond election that not only also provided funds for the new stadium, but also for a Performing Arts Center that is awesome. Shame on judgmental people who have nothing better to do than criticize Allen for striving to provide the best education and experiences in arts and athletics.
