#Motovlog #review of 2013 #Aprilia #Tuono V4 #APRC after 2 months of ownership. Amazing bike, amazing V4 sound with the engine from the RSV4 superbike. Nothing like ripping through the gears with the #quickshifter, and world-class rider aids (APRC - Aprilia Performance Ride Control). See and hear the Tuono fire up, rev, and accelerate like thunder. After all, Tuono means thunder in Italian!
Suspension settings tuned for 180lb rider (200lbs with gear):
Front sag: 36mm
Rear sag: 23mm
Front rebound: 1 clicks out from full stiff
Front compression: 2 clicks out from full stiff
Rear rebound: 5 clicks out from full stiff
Rear compression: 1/4 turn out from full stiff
If you have the hot start issue, try this for an easy & inexpensive fix:

2001 F4i rider here! I loved this review, your explanations and responses were very in tune to the people who would realistically ride this bike through cities instead of the tired, tried, and true magazine reviews that are far too quick to throw the bike onto the track and barrage you with acronyms and features. Definitely going to pick one up if my F4i retained its trade in value! Much love from Vancouver BC!

Thanks for your kind words, this is exactly why I wanted to make this review. Enjoy that F4i, they don't make bikes like that anymore. And when you upgrade to the Tuono, you'll gain a lot in performance and comfort without sacrificing... well, anything at all.

I have a 2017 gsxr 1000r that I love and is a blast to ride but is a bit uncomfortable after a while on the street. I was looking into a Tuono for comfort for the street. Thanks for the review!

Great review, I've had my 14 abs since September 17. Only done 1500 miles due to weather, so far I've had the rear shock rebuilt as it was very harsh. Still need to get it set up though.

Hey at least you can find neutral 😅 I just got a 2014 rsv4 and it's amazing. Except for the hot start issue (gonna try and amauri cable trick this week) and finding neutral : which also might be due to the gear selector sensor not being calibrated. Or so I hope. Wish me luck 😅
@Kurz_Weber
@Kurz_Weber 27 дней назад
I have an RSV4 and a V4R Tuono in the garage. Its easier to find Neutral when you set the clutch cable tension right and there's fresh/good oil. If there's not enough cable tension - you're going to have a hard time. I like my set up with clutch engagement early in the lever squeeze, so when you've got no tension - you got no neutral.

Thanks for yr opinion ..I’m about to make a switch from my 2014 Dorso750 to GSXR 750 ..but after watching yr video I think I go for Tuono V4...

My friend has the Dorsoduro 1200, it's a lovely bike and fun in it's own way. Glad I got the V4 instead however, it's worth the extra money. Funny enough, I now also have a GSX-R750 track bike!

Spend about 45 minutes in downtown Dallas traffic in the summer and let me know how that works out for you. Handling good, power good. Looks great. Reliability and gas mileage, not so good.
@the.real.houseofbikes
@the.real.houseofbikes 5 лет назад
You're totally right. I don't ride this bike in traffic too much. That V4 sound though makes me forget the valve check intervals, battery issues and engine heat generated. Still, it's my favorite bike I've ever owned!

I don’t think any bike is good in those conditions! I have one as well with a full Titanium Akro exhaust with the race map installed! It can get hot but never so much that i would get rid of it! By far it is a awesome bike

Great video. I have a very nice Speed Triple that is fun but only wheelies in1st. Looking at a 2013 for a great price, has a slip on and small tinted fairing (OEM?) and a tail tidy, I hope to pick it up in 2 weeks. Question, is your speedo in MPH? For some reason, I think you live in the Dallas TX area but your accent is not TX and you say "ZED" where most Yanks would say 0.
@the.real.houseofbikes
@the.real.houseofbikes 6 лет назад
+Chris Smith thx Chris. I'm in Canada... Must be why. I am 99.9% sure you can adjust the speedo to MPH using the settings in the dash. I rode my buddies' Speed Triple back in day, it had nice arrow pipes, sounded great. It was a quick bike, very smooth feeling. The Aprilia is a different animal. It's raw. I love it. There really no bike like it, RSV4 aside of course. Unbeatable bang/buck ratio for a fun/fast/comfy road bike, which is more than capable of track duty. I have a few track vids on my channel, feel free to check them out!

I’m looking at a 2013 Tuono with 10,500 miles. What would you ballpark the difference between this and the Z900 in terms of maintenance expense? Like 40% more?
@the.real.houseofbikes
@the.real.houseofbikes 4 года назад
The Tuono will come up on its expensive valve-adjustment right around that mileage, just like mine is right now. I can't comment on the Z900, but the Tuono is such a wild animal that I forgive it's poor fuel efficiency, expensive valve adjustments, and requirement for a 250ca battery just to solve the inherent 'hot-start' issue. Still, the V4 sound & motor personality is unrivaled in my opinion.
@greyanaroth
@greyanaroth 8 месяцев назад
The aprilia is a LOT more expensive to maintain than the z900, but it's also 10x more of a bike. Cannot compare. However, the bike needs good care and a fair bit of TLC. Which works fine for me, but you've to evaluate if it's for you. Try and decide this before you ride the bike because once you ride it you're screwed : nothing else comes close to this v4 beauty. It's motorcycle perfection

I'm planning to buy a 2014 model and my question to you is sinced you've address the hot start fix have you experience the problem and have you experience any other service issues with it you can comment on
@the.real.houseofbikes
@the.real.houseofbikes 5 лет назад
Still have the bike, and still think of it as the funnest, meanest, best sounding road bike I've ever owned. Don't plan on selling it anytime soon. The hot start issue came back to haunt me after the shooting of this video, but was addressed by replacing the battery with high-cranking Bikemaster lithium ion one. Once a blue moon, it hesitates starting hot, especially if I just shut her down, but with a 2nd push of the button she fires right up. The only issues I've had beside that is my addiction to the quickshifter and the sound of this glorious V4 animal, which makes drive it a lot harder than I should! Haha You cannot go wrong with a 2014! Enjoy it :)

@@the.real.houseofbikes glad you're still enjoying the Tuono. I can't afford the latest model, but have always loved the original mustard coloured 1000 from launch. So hopefully going to bite the bullet before the seasons out! Cheers for the videos.

You will not regret it one bit! Get the suspension professionally adjusted for your weight, replace seat if too stiff, and put on MRA Sport windscreen if wind draft bugs you. Bike becomes perfection :)
