I have the 2013 F1100 RR and I love it. Some upgrades on mine are an extended track (137"), Big wheel kit, Turbo cold air intake, clutch upgrade, Can, Tuned ECM (240HP). It's a beast!

The extra traction from the studs will cause it to push a little in the corners. Check the condition of your carbides, they may need to be freshened up or if they are only a 4" you may want to try a 6" carbide. Or, you may need to just add a bit more ski pressure (carbides dig in better) by tightening your limiter straps a touch. How does the gas mileage compare to the old dragon?
@SwankyCatProductions
@SwankyCatProductions 5 лет назад
I think they are are about 6" but I'll have to check. It seems like they push even without being on the throttle, could that still be the limiter straps? Or something else? I put on about 100 miles of easy riding yesterday and got just about 15mpg. I get more like 13.5 when riding hard so not to great really. The dragon got like 8 or 9 I think haha.
@ArcticJeff
@ArcticJeff 5 лет назад
@@SwankyCatProductions yep I would start by tightening the limiter strap. It affects ski pressure all the time.

@@SwankyCatProductions I cant even look at 2 strokes the same. Best way I can describe it, it's like a 600cc rocket on snow. The scary thing is mine is stock. There are guys that put a tune on and they're going 130mph and pumping out 220 hp

You got shocks setup on dragon with to much weight on front end. That would make it hard to steer and be all over the trail. Check tie rods also
@magee16749
@magee16749 5 лет назад
Might wanna start with rear suspension first. Gotta make ass end drop some.when you get on the throttle and them less weight is on front end. As long as no.other parts are bad then bad suspension setup is gonna be your problem I think buddy
@SwankyCatProductions
@SwankyCatProductions 5 лет назад
That very well could be and sounds about right. Originally I had the limiter straps all the way out and the rear all the way up...then I dropped the rear a click and tightened the limiter straps which I suppose was rather counter productive...
@magee16749
@magee16749 5 лет назад
@@SwankyCatProductions I have ridden a sled with this problem and it's a workout to keep it going straight. Whatever part in rear suspension that controls weight transfer is what you wanna adjust and I belive that would be the strap

Nice sled. I myself have a 2013 1100 xf Turbo 141 track. One thing u may wanna look in too is the (STEALTH BIG WHEEL PROCROSS ARCTIC CAT 800 PROCLIMB XF F1100T F1100 XF800 M1100) for the rear axle. the stock ones are not the best i recently broke mine and im replacing it with that. Other then that i have had no Problems with my sled. mines not stock have ecu tuner and exhust 240hp atm
@SwankyCatProductions
@SwankyCatProductions 5 лет назад
240HP!?!? That's crazy! Haha. Sounds like a lot of fun, I wish mine was a longer track like that and I'll bet the turbo really makes good use of all that traction. I've been considered some up grades, I'll look into the rear end stuff, not sure I'll do any performance mods...kinda like souping up a Prius if it doesn't have a turbo lol.

It did look like your ski's were sliding a bit around corners. Probably needs new carbides. I use Stud Boy Shaper Bars. They seem to have just the right amount of grab without trying to flip you over.

+1 on the Shaper bars. I run a 6" carbide insert Shaper in combination with a 1" Camo Hacksaw track (unstudded), and I think the front/rear balance is generally excellent. They're also wearing quite well, I'm very pleased for the price.

To be honest the only thing I've really noticed is the sound. It seems odd but I don't think the power it self feels all that different, its just the sound that makes you think it is. This Wednesday I'll put out a video where I drag race against my old sled and talk a bit about how they compare.

Have you tried adjusting the coupler blocks? They shift weight towards skis or track depending on what you prefer.
@SwankyCatProductions
@SwankyCatProductions 5 лет назад
I've not done that yet but I think they are at the more spacious setting right now. It seems like it pushes regardless of whether I'm on the gas or not though, could that still be the coupler blocks or do they only effect handling when you're on the gas?
@plymcousa3002
@plymcousa3002 5 лет назад
You would want the thickest or largest side of the block to face the contact point which is at the rear of the skid. That’ll put more wait on the front. Also the closer to the bars you sit while riding will help. I would try adjusting the limiter straps last as it is more involved to do. Trail conditions can also affect handling on any sled. Loose snow will tend to push and set up trails will bite. Good carbides make a difference. I hear woodys doolys are great for 4-strokes. They ad a lot of keel to the ski. But that costs money so I’d also wait to do this until the existing ones are worn out.
@jadosa29
@jadosa29 5 лет назад
If your Dragon was hard to steer something definitely isn’t right. Mine steers incredibly easy. Like steer with one hand easy. I ride with a few newer Cats too and the steering effort shouldn’t be noticeably better. Especially on a 4 stroke. The 8000’s do steer really easy. The 9000’s not so much. The ride though, that will be a noticeable improvement. I love my Dragon on twisty trails though. And no newer sled I’ve been on is nearly as warm as an iq not even close. Windshield will help some but still colder than your Dragon for sure.
@SwankyCatProductions
@SwankyCatProductions 5 лет назад
Yeah I'm finally realizing that my Dragon had WAY to much ski pressure. That's why it darted and was so hard to turn. Should have increased the front track spring preload and softened the rear. Ski shocks should have bee. Turned down a little too. Yeah its been warm enough that I haven't been cold but I'm sure below 0 I'll miss my Dragon lol.
