Over 50 hours of video broken out into 2 part timelapse.
Part 1 is the process of uninstalling everything to remove the manifolds.
Part 2 is realizing we have to uninstall the subframe and the process of installing everything back, tuning process, cold start-up (before and after), and shakedown test.
My friend and I upgraded the Aston with the power pack from Velocity AP.
VAP Exhaust Manifolds
VAP 200 Cell Cat
VAP Stage 3 Tune
Tried my best to film and show little tips and tricks for someone else who is going to attempt this. It's not a hard job, just time-consuming and some brainstorming.
This video will be helpful for anyone attempting to replace manifolds and exhaust, a clutch (as that requires LHS manifolds to be removed), starter replacement (as you have to remove the RHS manifolds), replacing motor mounts, replacing the subframe, or suspension work.
This was way harder than any other exhaust jobs and even clutches I've done because of how little access you have to the manifolds.
We attempted to remove as little as possible to access the nuts on the manifolds but ultimately removed a lot. We ended up undoing the motor mounts, entire front subframe, suspension, and more to gain access.
Hope you enjoy the process. I didn't.

I hope you enjoyed the job! Did some similar work on my 2010 V8V, it was much easier than the same job on my Infiniti G35. I've been happy how easy the car is to work on. Not as easy as some, but easy for what it is. Looking forward to the day I get to upgrade my clutch ;)

Honestly, I really like working on this car. The engineering amazes me. I always like hanging out in the garage wrenching, drinking beer with friends, and then seeing the fruits of our labor. Just purchased an f80 so thatll be fun to work on. I have not done the clutch as the mileage on this car is extremely low and the clutch is good. One thing I do regret is not replacing the starter as that is directly in line with the new headers heat soaking.

velocity AP is grossly overpriced garbage, you should have got Bamford Rose

Please explain yourself on why they are garbage? The price is similar to BR. Their engine upgrade package is 4790 gbp or 5800 usd.

BR appears to only sell to those who can actually get to their shop, and I've had zero luck having them contact me back ever. I tried for a year though various methods and gave up.

Great job guys, doesn't look like the easiest place to work but you did a proper job.

Thanks! The quickjacks make a huge difference but I would much rather have a full lift for this job and for the clutch job!.

Nice work gents. Do you know if you have to remove the motor mounts in the 4.3L?

On the 4.3L you may get lucky as you have more room than the 4.7L because of the 600 cell cats in the manifold. The 4.3 do not have cats in the manifolds (i dont think). I had heard on the forums that people didnt even have to drop the subframe or remove motor mounts but those were all 4.3 owners. There wasnt really any info from 4.7L owners that I could find. Those cats were not coming out without removing the mounts IMO or dropping the subframe. Now you will have to loosen the nuts/bolt on the motor mounts to lift your engine slightly to get more room to drop the manifolds but I dont think you have to remove completely.

@@Hwang_Over Thanks, that's super helpful info. And you are correct - no cell cats on the 4.3 manifold

@@Astonmarvin Absolutely, best of luck. Manifolds were game changer over all the mods besides the tune. Exhaust note, power etc. I would recommend getting a new starter while you have the manifolds out. One regret, I didnt know it was under the passenger side at the time and couldnt order one fast enough.
