01/07/2013. Sun Life Stadium (Miami Gardens, FL). The Discover BCS National Championship Game. The #1 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (12-0) vs. the #2 Alabama Crimson Tide (12-1). Broadcast on ESPN.
Notre Dame was a good team that year but everyone pretty much knew that this was going to be the result against Alabama. The diehard ND fans were hoping for a miracle but Alabama was having none of that. Like the other comment said. Its about the money.
Unfortunately Ohio students messed up by selling their jerseys. Otherwise it SHOULD have been Ohio vs ND. The ONLY 2 undefeated teams that year. Luck of the tide I guess.
@@onetwo6039 Actually, no. Alabama would've still got the invite, they won the SEC Championship game and deserved to be there regardless of personal opinion. This Alabama team was loaded top to bottom. The week they lost to Texas A&M and that clown Johnny Manzeil they had just came off an extremely emotional win vs LSU.
This was my favorite National Championship Game of all time. Notre Dame was a Paper Tiger for sure. I love what there coach said at Halftime. No answer..
Interesting to here Herbsteit say this is the middle of the dynasty and not the end. Who could have guessed Bama would still be pounding it out 10 years later.
In hindsight the SEC Championship game was the real Nat'l Championship game. And Georgia gave us a scare, but just like a Mark Richt team they faultered in the end.
Notre Dame came to the tunnel entrance to try to intimidate Alabama as they took the field. You could see the fear in the Irish players eyes when they saw the massive BAMA players come out. It was like Jr. high players looking at the Varsity.
Usually you hope these games are a toss up where it could go either way, and if they played the game tomorrow the other team could just as easily win. Not in this case. ND had no business being there.
@@SuperJasondennis Well, at least you capitalized God..... ND had enough size, they just didn't have the overall team speed Bama did.....and it showed.
ScoDucks2019 ummm no. We had a beast receiving corps and the best offensive line in the nation. AJ was an above average qb, as shown by his coming in second place in the heisman voting the very next year. Everything about 2012 Bama was just op as fuck
@@RadicallyOptimistic You conveniently left out who Ok St lost to and when. When you lose to a team at the bottom of a conference....like Iowa St was, and it's the last regular season game, it's GOING to hurt your chances. In college football if you're going to lose, lose early.
@@brettwelsh8575 Dude they 5 yards away from beating the team that took ya'll to the woodshed. That SEC championship game was the real national championship game because whoever won that game would have used ya'll for a chew toy
See this is why they didn’t let UCF in the playoff in 2017. Undefeated by not really playing anybody the whole year and would’ve got skull dragged in the playoff
That was not a game it was a bama curb stomping of notre dame.on national tv. When you lose that bad in title game you should not be allowed back for years. Notre dame would lose to half of sec
10 years later and the record has grown. ND is 0-14 in bowl games against top 15 teams since 93. This NC should have never happened. Another matchup the BCS got wrong. One of the many farce NCs that Saban owns. Over Rated! Over Rated!
Who belonged in this game? The Georgia team that Alabama just beat 2 weeks ago or the Ohio State team that was banned from postseason? Such a troglodyte you are.
