I came here because I realized Jim Rosa placed 5th, and I had never seen him run before. He and his brother are high school legends here in NJ. I guess they had injury issues, so unfortunately never became sensations at the NCAA level or beyond. Joe Rosa ran a 14:56 at the state championship Holmdel Park 5k course as a high school junior, which is the most difficult course I've ever run: extremely hilly throughout, and a brutal uphill bottleneck like 400m into the race. Some years you can win the state championship running almost a full minute slower. It is awesome to see one of the brothers having a good race in the NCAA. Jim looks to have run an extremely smart race, staying in the chase pack and moving up late.

Was more like a 2:32, but still I believe it. The first K was net downhill, and they had a 20mph+ tailwind working in their favor. Plus, it’s the first K of a cross country race. People like to get out fast
