FYI: Once the shock is removed and you need to remove the nut on top, a better way to do so is to place the shock, with mount held in a bench vise, utilize a 1/4" open wrench to hold the shaft while you remove the nut, as opposed to using a vise grips. Spraying it with PB Blast will make the removal much easier. Also, you will need this nut to be reused on the new shock, whether you use the old shock mount (I would recommend replacing them with fresh mounts from MA Mopar) or new one. NOTE: nut no longer available from Mopar. Video was helpful, just offering a constructive suggestion. Thank You.
Just replaced both rear shocks on my 2014 Charger today. Figured I'd add my newly acquired experience! I previously added a strut tower brace from Pettys Garage, which I had to disconnect and reinstall prior to removing/installing the new (Mopar) shocks and shock mounts!Car truly rides and handles way better now! Thanks again for the video, which helped greatly!
Those mount last longer than the 1st gen, since there are just a piece a rubber between the top of the shock and flange. the 1st gen were aluminium core with rubber around molded into the flange, so they are softer. you can get the new style flange with the rubber from monroe. Bumstop need to be replaced if in bad shape. I used the sachs shock(or TRW it's the same compagny with sister PN just the brand sticker change) they are exacly the same as the OEM, mine were 42k km(14 charger) still hard like new, but needed them for the 08 magnum. the one you installed seems very soft...I had hard time compressed it, almost putting my own weight on it took like 20s to compress. I have the touring suspension should be the softest. Also when I installed mine, I bolted the mount, reinstalled the plastic strap that keep it compressed so it was easier to install by just cutting the strap when in the lower control arm. The manual call for lowering the subframe, it's not necessary at all.
