Ford wasn't expecting to sell many copies of the F-150 SVT Raptor when the souped-up pickup was introduced for the 2010 model year, but the truck's combination of off-road ability and reasonable on-road manners have made it a surprise hit. More than 28,000 have been sold. Autoweek road test editor Jonathan Wong takes us underneath the 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor to show us what sets it apart from the basic F-150 -- then runs it through a rugged off-road course to demonstrate its all-terrain chops.

MrRedskins0021 No, it is good at those things but it needs to be upgraded with better tires than factory. It is very capable in just about every setting but it's only real achilles heel from the factory are those tires. They are a great balance for on road and off road but only for light off roading. Ford should at least offer different tires choices. All that said, I still love an want this truck lol

Many opinions on off roading. To me, its boring going slow. I like to go fast and tear shit up. Going slow is for rock crawling and mountain like terrain. Mudding in fields, minimum maintenance roads, tear it up like no tomorrow! Also it adds that adrenaline rush, which for some, its needed!

awesome I saw a roush one with a roush supercharger and the exhaust sounded really great it had 590 torque and 580hp I think I now the torque but I can`t remember the horsepower but 580 sound`s right

Raptor is not for mudding, it is for Baja style driving. It is too heavy to go on mud or to climb well. Leave that to the Jeeps or Tacos.

Would be great for someone living by Silver Lake where they could put it to use in the dunes. Doesn't make much sense over here in NJ where it would sink in the mud and the clay would destroy those half shafts, but it still sells well over here due to the "wow" factory. Me personally, I'd rather build a K5.

Just bought a used 13’... test drove a white one that looked like it did everything in this video. It may have??? So scrap that. The blue i tested never saw dirt!!! So I got that one... then the next day I sunk it in a mud pit and kept it sideways on the trail! What a truck.

This isn t offroading, it's whether controlled, than it s good for the car. He looks like he just want to break the car by riding a lot to fast offroad. When you go offroading you have to have your tires on the ground.

If you do this kind of shit with your daily driver vehicle you are a fool. I fell for this marketing in my last vehicle the NIssan Xterra, I did all the shit they showed in the promo videos. Went down hills, moutons, all this kind of stuff and dirt got in everywhere and when the truck got like 100,000 miles on it everything failed. Unless you are super rich dude, dont believe the hype

I have the black version and I love the truck, the only way I am replacing it is if I get the money for a Shelby Raptor (as long as they will do black). While I never doubt the power there is no power braking/ burning out in this truck. if you want to spin smash the throttle. It is probably best if you dont ask.

The Hennessey supercharger is a Roush supercharger, the only thing Henenssey does to it is put on a name plate and double the price. There are multiple power levels, the 525 retains the stock Ford warranty the 600 has a 1 year warranty.

yeah that is true I guess they do now that I think of it and then the price of the raptor goes up I think $16,000 or $12,000 that would not be worth it because 1 year warranty come on!!! I would want to get at least 4 or 5 year warranty right! so Hennessey rips you off!

If one front tire is completely off the ground the Torsen Dif (or any open configured dif) won't work. Because the free tire would be producing 0 torque, and you can't split 0.

525 torque or horse power? but it is not each it is 411 horse power and 435 torque but that is stock. if you put like Hennessy supercharger on a raptor and the other hennessy stuff on there you can get 600 horse power and I think the torque is the same to.
