Mine just started to rattle, grind and squeal. I first thought it was my front hub bearing because it never made any noise when the vehicle was stopped. This morning started up the truck to put it up on jacks and the noise started up. Obviously, if the truck isn't moving it couldn't be the front hub bearing. I've heard that these water pumps on these trucks go out fairly early in their life. removed the belt and wiggled the pulley and yup the pump seems to wiggle a lot.
Pretty much, i was driving home, suddenly saw steam and Coolant was going everywhere in the fans and leaking out of the bottom of the truck Best way to check is remove the Tension on the belt and see if you have play in the Waterpump Pulley
Not that I recall, i was driving home late one night and heard belt squeal (from the coolant), then saw steam, it just flat out failed. Luckily I was less than a mile from home. Easiest check is take the belt off and check the WP Pulley for play or Bearing for grinding
