2013 Ford Focus Manual Review, Walkaround, Exhaust, Test Drive 

Just bought a 2013, 5-speed, Appearance Package, Heated Leather Seats. Black on black on black. Beautiful car. $5k at 114k all highway no accident miles. Gotta love depreciation! So excited for a great new DD.

I just picked up a 2013 Focus 5-speed. mine had the fog lights, 4 wheel discs, and satellite radio. 12K out the door. I love it for all the reasons mentioned in the video.

Bought a used 2012 a month ago and love it, my first manual and really fun to drive!

I've beaten the crap out of my focus se 5 speed for at least 1/2 of its 210k miles. I can attest, this is a great car. Very reliable. Only thing that broke was the electric steering, which driving this aggressively as I do in summer and cold winters, it coulda been the environment that broke it.

I drove this car today and the shifter feels good, exactly like my infiniti g35 coupe

Who else wishes Ford would bring us the all-new Focus hatchback in the U.S. with a stick shift option? I'd buy one in a heartbeat!

My GTI has a crazy light clutch too. It's nice in traffic, but part of me prefers a little more weight. I drove an Audi S4 last week and that clutch was absolutely perfect.

That 2.0 sounds very smooth and refined. The 2.0 Ecoboost is one of the smoothest 4bagers that I have ever tested.

Reviewers should also discuss the sound system. Speaker locations and size. Wattage. Give us your opinion on the sound quality and ease of use.

My dad had to drive a '13 Focus when he hit a pole and I liked it. His only complaint was that he couldn't see the front or the back bumpers so he didn't have an easy time backing up or parking. He did say that he could get over that though. But I think the main reason he had a hard time with it is because he is so used to driving his '03 F-150.

my brother had a 2014 focus SE, WE, yes we, HATED the clutch. it's good for learning or inexperienced. He got an exceedy clutch and flywheel, sooooooo much better. but again, the stock clutch/flywheel combo is perfect for us Americans learning to drive manual trans, although i still think it's too soft for me at least. relay good car to learn manual trans in though, which i highly recommend although with modern DCTs, i guess it doesn't matter much unless you, like me, like traditional gear box

seems enticing for a small car and the focus has really become refined over the years. I drive a first generation and its noisy as hell and everything rattles...but its reliable and it has better handling then you'd expect from a economy car.

Car reviewers OCD need to point out hard plastics is seriously stupid unless the cars interior is uncomfortable because of it then what's the issue.

Iv'e seen plenty Dart's, and those things sound and look amazing! Especially with the 1.4l from the Fiat 500 Abarth. It sounds like a mini Ferrari.

I would have agreed to this for all American made Fords but Focus,Escape,Fusion,Fiesta all these are Euro Fords and in Europe Ford is rock solid brand unlike tin can Honda and Toyota which feels like it has only 1 mission in mind be a boring car which wont die till the worlds is over but Ford,VW,Opel etc are built to have fun,solid feeling,handling,comfort,feature rich and they hold their value pretty well 2 , i bet within 5 years Ford(Euro models) will become top 5 sellers,cuz they r damn good

Our editor in chief is trying to decide between the two this spring. The GLI is the more grown up and refined choice however, it cost about 5 grand more than the Civic Si. It will probably come down to how much more the payment is honestly. Both are fantastic vehicles.

So how does the Ford Focus manual accelarate when compared to its powershift automatic, and is it faster than the powershift, in australia the 2.0 160bhp ford focus made a 0-62mph(0-100kmph) in just 9.0s wile the powershift 2k 9.8s, and it was the sweetest car 2 drive and the 1 with the best ride quality(conciderin honda city,toyota corolla,mazda 3,hyundai elantra etc) i drove,and i thot suspension was a bit stiffer than jetta and mpg that i got with manual was 38 and powershift 35,maual is best

I would agree with your review, especially the lack of a 6th gear. I"m about to pick up a Focus SE Sedan 5MT for a commuter. My only gripes personally are the lack of a 6th gear, lack of foglights, and it definitely needs more power. I understand this is a commuter, but I'd prefer it had more torque. Honestly I wish I could just get it with a 2.0L Powertorq Diesel as they are equipped in Europe. That is truly the car to have for commuting IMHO, but Ford seems to prefer offering Hybrids...

I rented a Focus for a week and it was one of the more enjoyable vehicle I've came across for the price. But the fact the I couldn't see where the front hood end is a deal breaker for me.

The base S model Fiesta has hand crank windows. If you get an S Focus the front windows are power but the rear windows are hand crank.

GM has told us that the Cruze Diesel will be rated to get 42 MPG highway. We find it disappointing since the Cruze Eco gets that with the 6MT. Of course, it will probably do better in the real world but consider how the Diesel will cost more than a Jetta TDI, we find it difficult to choose it over the more proven Volkswagen.

This vehicle is quicker with the 5MT. C/D says it hits 60 in 7.4 secs, the automatic takes about a second longer.

Honda Civic Si is a 6 speed manual, it is less money than a Focus Titanium and is fully loaded Nav, bluetooth, sunroof etc. The only thing available (at extra cost) in the Focus that is not available in the Si is leather. However the Si has a 2.4 liter engine with real power and much better resale, economy is about the same. Si has more power than anything in its class inc. Mazda 3 or any non-turbo 4cyl currently offered, even more power than VW 2.0 turbo GTI and Fiat Abarth.

just bought a 12 Focus sedan with manual trans for my daughter. Nice car. Only 15,000 miles, $12,000. Quite different from earlier Foci I recalled

The gearbox in this car is probably one of the nicest and smoothest I've ever driven (of course its from germany) but the clutch just drove me crazy because it was SO light. The first time I ever drove the focus I felt like I couldn't drive stick at all just because of the springy clutch.

one of my relatives got a 2012 focus as a rental, & didn't get as many of the options... the radio didn't have bluetooth, single zone climate, and manual seating... it did have AUX jacks in the glove box & an auto transmission though...

The reason I would chose the Focus over the Honda is seat support. I find the Honda and even Mazda have really short seats made for people around 5 foot tall and I hate the edge of the seat cutting into my thighs.

The thing the intrigued me the most about the cruze diesel was the 260 lb ft of torque which in a small car like that would be nice. But since you pointed it out a Jetta diesel would probably be better. I remember driving my dads 09 jetta and loving it.

There's a 6 speed 1.0L ecoboost now. Really worth the extra money.

I noticed in some other videos and this one that when you pop the hood, there's a ticking sound. What is that?? Sounds a little disconcerting to me that it would tick like that.

I really like the look of the Focus and although I hear great things about the way it drives, my personal experience with a Ford was poor and I would have a hard time bringing myself to purchase another one. I would definitely think about a Mazda 3. I like the looks and the driving characteristics to me make it quite appealing. First I need to earn some money. If Ford can prove itself than maybe it would be back on my list.

I have a 2013 focus se sedan. I found that if you run premium fuel in the transmission is very smooth. The car may run on all grades but it performs best on 93. Im getting 38 highway so far.

Isn't this actually the 4th gen focus since Ford did a "refresh" of the focus for 2005-2007 models? I had an 05 focus, I now have a 14 focus with a 5 speed and the 201A package.

I drive a focus wagon with a 1.6 tdci. On a good day it'll get 67 mpg.

European Focus from 2008-2012 should be released into the US. Long live our Euro Focus ^_^ And you guys should have the 1.6 TDCI 109hp engines too. 50+ MPG (~4l/100kms).

Don't get the "automatic" transmission, it's not really automatic. It's a manual with automatic transmission shifting computer inside which makes a loud noise and blows the transmission. 😉🤗

Ford needs to rework the front end on this. It would look great if it has a grille from the fusion or didn't have that big black cladding on the front bumper where the plates are. I prefer cars with a clean design, it corolla cruze or civic or even dart.

My mom has a 2008 Focus, and its kind of a piece of crap compared to the 08 Civic and the 08 Jetta, but the 2012+ is a completely different car, its so nice now! I like the way it drives with the manual, but after looking at the Impreza, theres no way Id buy a Focus.

This car is the worst ever...I usually buy JDM but really liked the Focus and wanted to support USA. However, this car's transmission shakes!!! It feels like its going stall...contacted Ford and they didnt do anything. If you dont believe me, google it! Had to take my lost and sold it...

I asked this 0-62 because air density is different in different countries and accelaration varies also mpg,a nd how tall are u just 2 get an idea of rear legroom, i am 5 foot so was easily comfy also i felt the power varied with the air conditioner on/off with AC off it was like 0-62 in 8.6s it was blasting quick but with AC its torq falls at inclines etc still its the best car i ve driven n ma life except for rear legroom where jetta was enormous, please comment on ur mpg as well

The clutch is sort of like a vw grabs right at the end of travel the fiesta has more feel

Yep you guys do have really expensive fuel prices. You do get better octane fuels but still the price is insane. Americans don't understand how well off they have it in the consumer market when it comes to prices. Whether it's food, retail products, cars and even houses the prices are great.

ford made a great car however i cannot stand the fact they are STILL putting the same transmisison out in the market. the MFT module stuff as well. on the forums they are putting OWNERS through hell with software upgrades making stuff worse, door rattles, mft issues, transmission grinding, its just a mess. theres also areas like engine presentation and resale to consitter. a car in this class is meant to be reliable great quality. the focus only has one aspect of that. and because of that, civic

I'm driving an automatic one right now from a car rental and I noticed that there is a problem with the transmission. It almost feels like it's going to stall after a red light sometimes :/ other than that it's a nice car.

whats nice is in 2009 pretty much every compact car had a sport version.like the toyota corolla xrs, honda civic si,mazdaspeed3,nissan sentra se-r. and in 2010 toyota discontined the xrs(please bring it back toyota!!) and in 2013,the sentra discontined the ser but ford introduced the st focus. sofyan can you do a 2010-2013 sentra and or 2013 nissan altima 2.5S

First gen. was so much better. Owned a 2000 Ford Focus SE wagon with the base 2.0L engine. Test drove a 2009 Focus SE Sedan back in 2010. Complete shit. Glad I bought my TSX.

My mom bought one of these and it floors nicely haha. The back seat space is horrid though. If your average size+ you wont like the back seat.
