Coming up on eight years of owning my 2.0T Sport, 87000 miles, and no major issues yet. More than enough power, great in snow, happy enough with it to consider buying a 2021 Santa Fe or the soon to be new Santa Cruz. Hyundai still does a great job with their styling, inside and out.
Forgive me if someone already said this but he probably didn't have the door locked. I discovered that right away, the remote start won't work unless the doors are locked. It does take a minute or two but its worth it!
The 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe is the best designed and most technologically advanced SUV of 2014. Hyundai auto technology is one of the most advanced in the world. Hyundai engineers its own engines (known as Lambda) and is 100% Korean technology. Korean technology companies are the most advanced in the world (look at Samsung... the world's biggest and most advanced technology company by revenues and innovation index). FORZA HYUNDAI MOTORS!
Just picked mine up a week ago!! Love this beauty. After filling up 3x (I drive a lot for work), I averaged 25.5 mpg on my first tank, 26.2 mpg on my second, and 24.5 on my third. This guy's an idiot. You reap what you sow, drive like an idiot or "normal" for him and get 18 mpg, or if you want to obtain EPA estimated mpg, then drive lightly, bring your car up to desired speed, then apply just enough throttle to maintain speed. That's it. I've used this technique on a handful of cars & it works!
The BlueLink app works great, and is incredibly easy to use. Not sure how the demo app works, but the normal version never fails to start my Santa Fe. It is an incredible feature for those frigid winter mornings or sweltering summer afternoons. Also, that 18.6 mpg has to be with someone playing around trying to hear the turbo blow-off, or seeing how quick the car is at every light. I get 23+ easy.
Had this car rented, I was very impressed. I wouldn't mind a v6 version, and do wonder why in the world don't they have leather seat package. In overall it's an amazing car for the price. Hyundai really stepped up!
This isn't an issue for blue link start up. You can actually start, unlock, lock, and hazard the vehicle from anywhere you have a signal. It takes anywhere from 5sec to 2min.
Surprise number 3: The mpg is just fine. Not great, middle of the road. Middle of the road is surprising? Surprise 2: The buttons.... Surprise 1: A Ford had technology problems. Oh wait, no. There's another number 1 surprise: It's... what? The app? Or that the app didn't work? What a strange video.
Hyundai and Kia are still not refined as they should be, their cars look good and have more standard equipments, but the feel still not up to par to Honda, Toyota and Nissan but I bet these Korean companies will be there in several years, I just hope they will keep their prices competitive.
I usually like you guys, but this was a very poor video. FYI the bluelink works over cell, and you were in the middle of nowhere. This car is capable of 30+mpg @ 70mph on flat roads, the low 20s mpg you mentioned is the combined mpg. You were actually getting over the advertised 18mpg city.
We traded our 2013 Sport 2.0T today, for a 2015 Explorer Sport. I liked the Hyundai, but it was too narrow, and I always bumped my head when checking traffic, while pulling onto a highway.
A turbo brings in more oxygen to burn more fuel but the ratio of oxygen to fuel has to be constant: (too much fuel or not enough oxygen results in power loss and wasted fuel). All a turbo does is allow a smaller engine the ability to burn as much as a larger normally aspirated one. Three basic ways to burn more fuel (to get more power) add turbo/super charger, increase displacement/cylinders or increased rpm. All three give you more power bc you are burning more fuel.
Thank you, thank you for sharing the MFT experience in the Explorer! The more this is talked about (hopefully) the better chance we have of Ford actually fixing this widespread problem. I love Ford vehicles, but have completely moved them off my radar ever since I had the unpleasant experience of (briefly) owning a 2012 Focus and having never-ending issues with MFT.
Love my car - it does take a few minutes to do the autostart - but it's worth the delay - just start it when you're "about to leave" and make sure it's locked. Great car - it's so fun and zippy.
i have a santa fe and it averages about 25 to 26 mpg.. mine is also the turbo engine. so something is up with this review.. ive had no issues with my phone app either. car starts everytime as long as the doors are locked. my guess is the reviewer did not know how to use the bluelink system .. these are awesome suvs..
How about Panoramic Sunroof to make a noise like braking or crunching noise that seems like something of body frame gets breaking/twisting?As far as I know all hyundai models has this problem which is not rigid at all.
I am surprised! ... this thing only get 18.6 mpg (since when is this good???) ... my XTERRA PRO-4X which ALL journalists criticize as getting poor mpg gets 16-18 mpg in mixed driving ... meet you at MOAB
Turbos get bad gas mileage when you really floor the thing around to speed like a maniac. Drive sensibly and you'll get good mileage. Normally aspirated 4's need to be floored more just to keep up with traffic.
Fuel economy is dependent on driving habits, road conditions and vehicle load. Driving a car in hilly terrain should result in mpg loss bc the engine's rpm is constantly changing.
18.6... Are you kidding me? The 2003 Isuzu Axiom my family owns is a mid-size SUV with a full frame, a 230 HP V6, and Borg Warner Torque-On-Demand 4X4 system gets 20 MPG.
Great. But I have noise when turning & accelerating & no back up camera already. Ugh. Only put in 80$ worth of gas. Wish I could trade it fast. Why this noise I didn’t notice on 5 min test drive. So sad
how could a turbo make the mpg worse? all it does is push oxygen into the engine so that every drop of gas is useful, if anything that should make better mpg
No hyundai - not good. Go for best American quality: Chevrolet, Ford Motors, Dodge, Corvette, Jeep, General Motors, Chrysler Fiat Group, Lincoln, Volvo, Cadillac, ... and you will not regret this.
Why that technology is privacy intrusive? It is your car, you need to know where it is!! Thats the same thing like the Lo Jack service, but instead of paying a company for that service, you have it in your smartphone directly.
Acura is an interior style that tries to be unconventional with dual screens that don't work together well. Lexus is a luxury level. Hyundai is the more family-premium brand, whereas KIA is the more youthful and sportier brand.
The insides of Hyundai and KIA are superior to Honda's and Toyota's interiors. I have sat in the Venza, Oddysey, Civic, Accord, and the CRZ. All plastics feel cheap despite some nicer patches.
I would have liked to learn someone about the vehicle described, but the annoying music, quick-cut camera work and flashy flashy Hollywood wannabe nonsense, I'll look elsewhere.
You know, this guy is not an idiot, 'cause at the very least he's managed to make all these reviews, not you, and these reviews are very good. All that you "explained" are simple things that are understandable (if you have a brain and can use it). Plus, it's very easy to call smbdy an idiot online, not even knowing the person. The sad thing is that you have 7 likes already on this post. congrats on your 6 month old car
lol your comparing a Hyundai Genesis against a low power Miata knock off like the BRZ? Thats like comparing a F-350 to a Ranger. The Genesis is 348 hp and looks waaaaaay better then the grocery getter BRZ
All the software technology in these new cars is the exact reason I'm not into most new cars. They all will be obsolete in 2 years just like mobile devices...
WHY WOULD ANYONE, I MEAN ANYONE, EXCEPT ACTION HEROES :), WANT TO START THEY CAR BY REMOTE? WTF? People are getting spoiled and some aspects of technology are making us lazier and dumber! You don`t need that. :) But this guy makes interesting reviews...and remarks. :))
***** Wow could you be more ignorant than that hahaha! I`m 34 years old and testing cars is my job since I was 25. You see...if you were in the industry you would know that some things that are made for a certain vehicle are divided in basic categories - necessary and those that are not and that we will install if you pay for it. The problem is that many of the new things that are connected to your mobile app for example or things in a car such as touch displays just don't work as they should and it is not to good idea to have them. For example when you can start your car via mobile it is just a program that can be hacked just as any other. Touch displays have a condensation problem on their surface an it is just pure physics. If you get in a cold car, turn on the heating there will be condensation and sometimes it will not respond well. So...hi tech gadgets are OK but...some of them are NOT necessary and can cause only problems. And your example with somebody chasing you...come on...really. :) If you are running yeah..there will be time to type a code in your mobile phone and then what for a confirmation. :))) Learn something before you disgrace yourself.
it's nice if you live somewhere cold b/c you need to warm up your car before driving it. the other option is to sit in it for 5 minutes before you start driving. plus it'll be toasty when you do get in
The car engine needs to be warmed up before it can function. It has moving parts that can get frozen or stiff. In some cold places, you actually need to plug your car into a heater when you leave it outside or it won't work
I like this fat guy's reviews. He does 0-60 with two man sized men in the car, at altitude, from a solid stop. That is realistic driving. If you are a normal man (say 6' tall and 180 lbs) you will be driving with perhaps another 40lbs of crap in your trunk, frequently with another person, and you won't be on a track. And as for his 18.6 mpg. a) Those computers are ALWAYS generous - he was probably getting 17. b) If you really *drive* a car, you will be doing well to match the EPA *CITY*
so what u suggest is : if you have the possibility better to buy a japanese suv???? i just spend 30.000 usd for a kia sportage 2.0l mt6 and after one year and 20.000 kilometers these was the result; substitute gearbox, gearbox shifter, clutch ,front brake , rear brake and the electric window motor. what a crap corean car is these; i will go back and buy japanese imported car.
that's awful, I got 17 MPG in my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 V8 4x4....and that was still a truck....just put a V6 in the damn thing...lol, skip the expensive turbo 4
