Wow you noticed what was the point of that line. Dude, what a great youtube comment. I'm glad these comments are on every RCR video. How else would I know what lines stood out?
Jakugen What does that even have to do with iQ? You dumbass mouth breathers really love throwing that word around like it holds any weight lol. You do you, my guy. There’s an inherent pointlessness to being a smart ass to a comment that’s 3 years old by a person that probably forgot or doesn’t even care about the fact that they even left this here, but hey, you go and waste your time. You seem to enjoy finding validation in pointless endeavors. Got get ‘em, tiger.
@@juda210 You are seriously deficient in IQ, my friend. Comments aren't email boxes. They are for other people watching the video NOW. Normally functional brains get this implicitly.
I have the 2007 g35 sedan. A bit less power, bit less weight, two less gears, mines rwd. My last car was a Tercel. You nailed it. it is a GOOD car. it does nothing bad. it does nothing GREAT. I like it, not love it. I got it for 10 grand two years ago, it has 140 thou on it now, and STILL drives like new. Not a single problem. So why don't I LOVE it? why do I want to get a 335i or S4 instead? Why do I want that anxiety? And then I see this review. That's it. I'm bored. I often say to bored people that 'bored is just another way to say 'Everything is okay.' Be happy for that.' So I'm keeping this car. I'm not going to go buy the car that isn't OKAY. I'm not going to date the high-maintenance supermodel that can't wait to leave me. I'll settle for the just pretty gal that fucks and cooks and cleans, and is good to me. Everything is okay, and I'll be happy for that.
Please, he won't regret it. Maybe a lot of us will regret owning a Corvette or vintage Porsche, but let's not pretend owning a 335i or WRX is some life-changing experience. They're great cars but if that's your big regret in life you need to aim higher.
Haha if your gonna generalize the type of owner your pretty much saying all owners (myself included) i obviously don't agree with myself being one but i do know the guy he's talking about and the whole thing was a great and funny vid
He tends to shit on cars I think are great. This one made me re-evaluate what I value about cars... But, I was honestly pretty triggered by his 300zx "review"
I have a g35 that I bought for 10,500 and it had 80k miles on it and multiple performance upgrades and it is the best first car ever. Why? Because every time I pulled up to the football game... ALL THE GIRLS WANTED MY GAME UUUUHHHHHH
The Skyline in Japan has no GTR model... the GTR moniker is now a completely different car all on its own. SO yes while we (USA) don't get the Skyline by name we do get the Infinity G37 and Nissan 350/370Z... which is basically what the Skyline has turned in to in Japan. A nice GT car and not a hyper Performance car like the current Nissan R35 GTR has become. Which can be owned by pretty much anyone with enough money to buy it.
Infiniti also makes a glorified Primera, you know, that first car you get in Gran Turismo that's priced right and is just barely powerful enough to win the Sunday cup?
I have a friend who bought one of these and I showed him this and he was holding back his annoyance at how insanely well it fit him, from the “rap video” to “staged tinder photos with a dog” to liking “nice” things and being seen with “nice” things and “cool bro”
G owner here and while I can totally identify with some of the stereotypes here I think more attention should be noted that this body lasted almost ten years. Debuted in 08, it is now 2017 and you can still walk into Infiniti showrooms and find these on the floor now (granted they wear a q60 badge). Of course the redesigned q60 is now here to put it to rest, but it was a long run and should be noted
It’s 2022 now and these G37 coupes (and hardtop convertibles) are still gorgeous in my book. Especially with the S package. The following Q60 is also one of the nicest looking coupes around IMO.
Well with the mileage he's put on it, he probably hasn't had to change the oil in it yet. Not everybody checks their oil every time they fill up. Not to mention that it has less than 50k miles so it probably hasn't needed any repairs yet.
How about he's nervous around cameras? Do we really need to judge a guy based on how he opens the hood of his car? I mean really, that little bastard can be hard to find when you're not paying attention!
As a mechanic this brought up old memories of someone coming in wanting an oil change five minutes before closing just for me to go out to the parking lot to find one of these with scraped up rims, expired Maryland tags, more strange noises than I care to count, and an interior that overwhelmingly reeks of weed.
I own a 13 G37x and absolutely love everything about it. It has a very simplistic interior design with the correct amount of knobs and buttons. It's a simple exterior design. Nothing about it is exaggerated. These machines are extremely adaptable to performance additions also.
@@lukeboomstra6136 it’s been great! Bought one certified 3 years ago, and have put 25,000 miles on it without any problems. Coming up on 50K soon! Love the way the car looks, even though it’s getting close to 10 years old I still get compliments.
@@DrowsieCS just hit 50k too! I bought the car last year and I saw this same video. Lowkey pissed me off. It’s not the fastest or the lightest car, but it’s comfortable and quick enough for the average driver.
My dad had one and said the same thing...it does EVERYTHING you want it to do...does it good, is it fun? Kinda. Is it fast? Yeah kinda. Does it have character...nope.
The thing I love most about these cars, is their potential to be really clean. They might come boring from the factory, but get some nice wheels, springs, head/tail lights and maybe a kit and you've got a really clean car.
My '08 G37S is stock, except for Injen short-ram CAIs. Add some medium tint and the S looks great with 19" wheels/tires. My still gets compliments in bright blue.
Well, as "G37 Guy", without a number of the characteristics listed, I can tell you this: I have the 2012 sport model, which has modification to suspension and steering (this video indicates it's all stock). After buying the vehicle in 2012, it has taken me 135,000 trouble free miles. This is a HUGE consideration in the luxury/near luxury market. Anyone who has dropped a $7,000 transmission a few hundred miles after the warranty expired would appreciate the rock solid reliability of this vehicle. No, it's not the prettiest car on the block. The design is tired. Its replacement, the Q50, has been a box of problems for Infiniti and the early adopters. I find the Q50 far more laughable than the G it scooted out the door, especially that deliciously awful fake steering. While this video hits the high points on the G's positive attributes, it glosses over them. The reliability I have experienced out of this car has drastically reduced cost of ownership. At 135k, it drives nearly as well as new. My only investments have been regular maintenance in the form of tires, brakes and oil changes. I have to get the sunroof re-seated (about $250.00), as this model has a serious sunroof problem which causes leaks all over the car. Those 330 horses? My God they are wonderful launching onto the interstate or playing on a long stretch of lonely road late at night. The car is so damn solid I can forgive it for being a combination of mid range options which all work very well. It's time to trade and buy a new car, and I'm not sure if I will ever experience the sheer quality of this car again.
I couldn't agree more, I love my 2013 Gr7xS, it's nice and lots of fun. Great power, I came from a 3.7 litre Acura TL with 395 hp with torque vectoring. Thing is something always went wrong, replacement engine cost $5000 because of oil burning issues common to the 3.7 ltr TL and MDX. Reliable, fun and nice aren't bad qualities. If you want more you'll have to spend much much more money. I'm very happy w my 330 hp K& N intake and sport exhaust which sounds great.
@Auto blipper no rattles, Altima isn't comparable to be honest. Most comparable Nissan car would be 370z but it's rear wheel drive.. The interior is similar, I love my g37xS Coupe. Its alot of fun and relaible.
@@davidbrowne9984 I bought a 2008 G37S new - ordered it, in fact - after 5 trouble-free years in a G35. I traded because the G35S wasn't as "nice" in so many ways. The G37S was about $9K more, but the 50HP jump, and improved content - touch-screen or voice everything, Nav gives 9GB of music storage, iPod intf (only charges gen 3) CF card, CD, a fixed - not pop-up - screen, better seats *with memory*. 4WS, adaptive cruise ctl, drive-sport mode - as he said above, holds gears longer, also, doesn't go into manual mode until you shift up or down. PLENTY worth $9K more - even though I still got a 5AT, 7AT's were added in 2009. I put Injen short-ram CAI's - now made by Stillen/K&N. Ran great for 10 years, but I got that itch... Traded it in on loaded 2017 Camaro SS - 455HP/455TQ is quite a change, with bells & whistles out the wazoo... But I do miss my G37S and I should have traded for G37xS or Q60S AWD, and added Procharger or Stillen SC... Oh well, guess I'll go out and rip up the street for a while...
@Auto blipper Interior rattling? I had an 07 with the same problem. It's common on normal brands, one of the main "luxury" features of the higher quality brand counterparts is better interior quality, so usually it won't have the same problems because they focus more on making sure the interior is much better, since that's mostly what people who buy those cars care about
Skylines really aren't all that unless you're talking the GT-R or GTS-25T, which most of them aren't. There are soooo many 4 door non turbos out there, and most that were turbo only came with the RB20DET(junk).
I remember riding in one of these as a rental car, maybe a 2008 model G37 to California. The car could cruise at 110 and it felt like we were doing 60. I liked the combo of comfort and speed in that car.
My dad had a G35 coupe followed by a G37 coupe. Both rear wheel drive. Both automatic. They were decent, and I actually liked the G35 quite a bit. The interior was more distinctive than the G37, and the handling was a little more neutral than the 350Z of the same period. They were odd choices for a guy with two kids and no other cars, but we got by(it helped that my sister is only 5'5" tall now, and she was shorter back in 2005). He ultimately replaced the G37 with a loaded Fiesta. He liked his Infinitis, but he is all about his Fiesta. He has weird buying habits.
Nope, just a Fiesta SE or Titanium. Weird move on the surface as he'd just gotten a better job when he made the switch. It just met his needs better I guess.
Chris Cushing: And I get funny looks when I tell them I went from G35S to G37S to Camaro SS. Bucket list item said big honkin' V8 (all automatics, btw, and the 8AT in the SS is great)
I always perceived the G37 in similar character to the Phaeton. It's really nice and competent at everything, but it doesn't shout about it. This is possibly because the 37's never had the douche baggage the 35's suffered from, but something about the car always struck me as humble. It knows it's older now and can't be a two seater with razor blades for headlights any more, it can't plaster itself with nismo badges and trashy body kits. It's just a hard-worker that has festered into the cold shell of indifference brought on by adult life, wanting to be a Z again.
Ryan Bernard Maintenance costs are higher than your average sedan. Premium Fuel is required to satisfy the Nissan VQ engine. It's been pretty reliable. I've owned the 2011 G37 sedan for over 2 years with no major issues, but I also bought an extended warranty just in case.
I bought one of these and hes pretty spot on about the car. I love it though, cause I couldn't get anything else like it for as cheap and in the amazing condition I got mine.
I had a 2010 coupe and loved it. When it got totaled from someone hitting it when it was parked.... I replaced it with a 2011 sedan. I would have gotten another coupe, but I have a family and needed the practicality of a sedan. No other cars match their power, reliability, luxury or style for the price you can get these for.
@@projectspectre7987 2011, it was the highest trim aswell. I got it for 13,500, in utah. It only had 70,000 miles and was in very good condition. The same dealership just sold a G37 S coupe for 17,995, with 90,000. But it was a manual and it was on Bags. Which both Mark the price higher.
Got a 2011 g37x coupe. My car for example has 189k. The car still runs and drives beautiful. Very minor mods like lowered a little and sitting on 20's and some brake upgrade. I can't complain at all. The car always starts and always gets me home with no issue at all. Still gets plenty of looks and compliments when I stop for fuel. Well made car and the VQ engine is very well engineered and pulls really hard and sounds like a dream
Yeah, he tends to be very flip floppy on regular cars, varying on how much enjoyable imperfections it has along with whatever issues he’s projecting the day
Well my g37 ipl makes me feel like a special buttlefly even though it was a sales failure and a bad attempt at an entry into the upper performance luxury market
slayerdearly **Spoiler alert if you care about it** its at the end of the pacifist route. also, his bed is a car, although I don't remember exactlu what kind of car was
Sebastian Torres Sagredo it's also noteworthy to say that all assumptions we make about make and model of the car are pure speculation, since all we have is a 15x45 sqpixel sprite of the car. It could be anything from Alfa Romeo to Zagato, but a psychological analysis and characterization (like mr Regular practises it from time to time in episodes) of the average buyer/"user" of a certain car points to the group of cars which the Mazda MX-5 Miata NB is a part of.
AND paddle shifters, metal trimmed pedals, and - on RWD models - LSD, and different (IMO nicer) front facia. Also, Couldn't get the body-color spoiler without sport & premium packages. I also bought nav, tech, and RWS. I like my cars loaded...
This is why Im glad I have a 6mt 370z, feels and drives so much more "spirited". Just an all around more fun car to drive, the VQ37 is also one of the best sounding engines. Love the tone it delivers. New Z is right around the corner as well
What do you mean? They have exactly the same engine and transmission and all? The Infiniti just has a better interior so idk how the 370z could be “better”
You're so right poor in the US is like the elite richest people here. High end executives in their late 40's early 50's here can only afford like a new Corolla and people stare and talk shit.
That's not it - poor here is poor regardless, but we're a developed nation. So even our "poor" standards of living can be higher than a country like India or Haiti. But you also have to consider cost of living and buying power of money here. It's damn expensive to live here, so even if you're making $30,000 a year, that just isn't enough to properly live on if you're supporting a family and own a house and car. But a car like this can be had for low money - the manufacturers get you on maintenance costs though. The vast majority of people can't do basic maintenance on their own cars, and that's especially true for the typical "luxury" buyer, so once costs starts racking up (or they want the next best thing), they dump their old car for low money to some poor, unsuspecting fool who thinks he or she's getting the deal of a lifetime, and when they can't maintain it, those garage and parts bills get way up there. Buying cars aren't the problem here, it's everything else that comes after.
It also helps that creditors are looking to get you onto a payment plan. You might be surprised how low a monthly can be if you're willing to go long enough. $250/mo isn't terrible, until you realize you'll be paying for the next 8 - 10 years, rain or shine. Then, as Darren mentioned, maintenance.
The problem with infinity in general is that every luxury car manufacturers did everything better and uniquely than infinity. They should just call themselves generic generic. Spot on review.
At 2015071 when this car was new, yeah, but now I'd characterize them as good looking cars where development was put into the wrong areas, like the steer by wire sport model, and their bad infotainment systems that have two vertically stacked screens like you have a giant DS in your dash.
Plenty of power, though. The appeal of the G35 sedan is that you were getting M3...ish power for 328i money. Cheap to fix, too, since parts were shared between things like this and the Murano.
TheInflicted im so glad you ended that m3 with "...ish" that so would have gotten someone triggered lol but even i wont make that comparison but you are right about it goong going after the 335i (bmw is still faster tho)
I have a 2012 g37xS coupe. Basically this car but in red. Got it from the original owner (some old lady whose husband bought it for her) in PA, from the Infinity dealership it was originally purchased at, with low miles. Probably never went over the speed limit, and was bone stock. The review was pretty spot on, it's jack of all trades. If you work the gears (and after the sport mode learns your driving style) it can be fun and somewhat scary. But it really does offer me everything I want: it's reliable, has AWD (great for the northeast), is forgiving if you want to drive like an idiot (drives on rails, little body roll, and good brakes), has luxury, and is common enough to easily get parts and add-ons for. It's a shame that the people who get the high mileage ones put green rims on it, hot air intakes, kazoo exhausts, and RGB lights, then ruin it for everyone else.

There is a reason why Infinitis are A.I. cars in the HD Need for Speeds.
Maybe I just don't like cars that are too overdone, and why I like this. Lines are simple and smooth, very few jagged edges and gimmicky aero bits to detract attention from the overall design
I get the feeling he doesn't like the G27xS. I think I get it, though. It's not a 350z or a 370z, so most Nissan(or most JDM fans for that matter) won't care, and it's not a BMW or a Mercedes(even though it can outrun most stock non M Series and non AMG, C and E-Class), so upper middle class will turn their noses up at it. To them, it's like Mark Zuckerburg trying to fit in with John D. Rockefeller. He can have all the money he wants, but the old money prestige just isn't there.
I had one of these drive past me yesterday. It had ludicrously huge rims on razor thin tires and when the driver, obscured by heavy tint, applied the brake it sounded like an angle grinder. I felt outrage for the car.
7:24-7:35 really hit the nail on the head. A guy I know used to own one of these, and he always justified the expensive lease because this car is "nice", and he "likes nice things". 'Nice' is the word for the G37.
It is "Nice". I personally have owned three different iterations of the "G" First two being an 06 and a 11 sedan, both were great. I currently drive the same G37XS that was featured in the video. I swear I'm not "G37 Guy" but if you're ever in Chicago id love for you to roast I mean review my G. Few extras on mine though: Supercharger, adjustable suspension, full exhaust and a bunch of other goodies. The pull of the stock VQ is good but when it's cranked up to 520ish at the crank it becomes addicting.
Being a native of the Lehigh Valley, I always catch the local references in your videos and they make me feel special for understanding them. So thanks for the special feeling RCR
G37X coupe owner here. Pulls good. Pulls GOOD. Not bad, not great, GOOD. Pretty comfy. Comfier than a Camry, not comfier than a Bimmer. It’s good at everything. Not bad or great at much. The only absolute pro is that it’s smooth as can be, and the absolute con is it’s gas mileage is pretty sub par compared to other cars in its class. It gets the job done, doesn’t let me down, and I’m not gonna try and impress anyone with it. I enjoy driving it hard, and that’s enough.
the sad thing is that this thing is essentially the last skyline, im being serious, this was officially a skyline. the gtr that we know today (the r35) was never called a skyline. this is where the skyline officially ended. it is a skyline... but not a gtr.
I love your work but did you really have to show the poor kid struggling to open his hood for as long as you did? I found it humorous bc i tend to do that myself since I don't actually wrench on my own cars (I suck, I know) but damn. Cheers! Keep doing what you do!
If you ever drove the 3.8 Hyundai Genesis and Infiniti G37 although displacement is off by .1 and price by around 8k you'd wonder why you ever made that comparison. - former car salesman
So, I'm coming back from my sister's T'giving dinner in Pottstown, in my week old G37. I'm coming down 422E, cruise control set about 70, listening to the Bose, when the adaptive CC hit the brakes, bringing me down to 5mph. I had rounded a curve into a sea of brake lights - this was the first year they opened the outlet stores on Thanksgiving night to get a jump on Black Friday sales. I patted the dash and said "Good car, I wasn't expecting that!"
wait, when this car came out in 2000s , it was one of the fastest in the segment. g35 hr was almost as fast as e46 m3 before they started putting turbo on e90s? for people who think g or infiniti have no soul, you are wrong. when I was in university g and z were the "dream cars" of avg students. it is almost like an iconic figure of the cars in 2000. everyone knows g35
The steering is impeccable, its ability to drift without biting you (rwd versions) is impressive. It's a z car with a rear seat. I LOVED that car, only cost me 6k...
It *never was a GTR*.. But *yes* it is a *Skyline..* Manufactured in Japan and sold there and in a few other places in the world as the *Nissan Skyline 370GT..*
