2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300 Rear Seat Cowling 

Glad to see they fixed the inexcusable problems with the Ninja 250 solo seat cowl. The back was just a nipple that pushed down into a circular rubber grommet, meaning anyone could just lift it up. The front did not have that L-shaped bracket, meaning anyone could simply rotate it to retract and release the spring-loaded locking lug. You literally just lift the back and turn the whole thing to remove it as quick, easy, and non-destructive as with the key!

Just wanted to say thanks for making all these videos, they have been super informative and helpful. I especially appreciate you giving us a heads up on what to look out for like coolant leaks, and alternative tips and tricks when modding/installing. You should really start moto vlogging if you have the time.

Yeah.... flying off if not locked... that has happened to me. Just make a habit of always locking it into place. Now I have a habit of leaving my key in the trunk switch. I've done it twice so far lol. Just did it today, glad I was close by

There is a little more room in the trunk and I think between taking the cowl off and the front seat, I will take the cowl anytime lol!!!! Less crap to take off.

Ugh that sucks!!! I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah everything has been on back order for a long time. I don't think they understood how big of a seller this bike was going to be or how in demand parts were going to be. Hang in there, your bike will be back to you soon.

@felo- thanks for the suggestion. I have been tossing around the idea but I kind of like how it looks right now. Of course depending on the exhaust I get I might change it.

Yup, you definitely can. Under the rear seat. It should be the same.

do you notice extra trunk space? is taking the cowl on and off more or less cumbersome than the seat.

@voltaic- there is slightly more room. Not enough to pack a picnic :) but enough to store gloves and a balaclava.

Are you still able to take the back off wit the key inserted into the tail?

You can order it from your local dealership or online. From my understanding however, this item is on backorder. Hope this helps :)

I got my 300 a few weeks ago and one of the first things I wanted to do is put a seat cowl. Kind of a dumb question: Can you interchange the cowl with the passenger seat by just unlocking and clicking them in or do you have to take off that rear bracket you installed? Would be kind of annoying to undo the bracket every time I have a passenger, Thumbs up and thanks in advance :)

With the new cowling, do you get more room underneath it, compare to having just the seat?

I'm still debating if I should get it. Especially after knowing that I have to take the bracket off if I decide to have a passenger _. They should have just use the same bracket for both to be more convenient for us _.

I believe the rear seat cowling cost me $200 but don't quote me on that. My receipt is buried somewhere in all of my paperwork. ☺

Thanks! And unfortunately you do have to undo the bracket whenever you want to switch. Definitely a pain in the butt for those who will interchange. For me number one rule is no one rides bitch on my bike :)

my bike was hit so its in the shop. its been a month and all my repair parts including the seat cowl are on back order noòooooooo

Errrp... Nope, no Hello Kitty backpack. Nothing against the kitty but I lost interest in that when I was in junior high.

It doesn't make the bike look any better. It only makes sense if it increases the storage capacity.
