Lol this bike is by far the fastest 600cc sport bike at the moment ahaha, so much that it's not even that far behind the last generation R1, but then again the last generation R1 was quite a lot slower than the other 1000's at that time
Riccardo Merlini, If you're going to reply to a English written comment, especially when you're disagreeing with it, reply in English or don't reply at all because you're the only person that is going to understand it.
Riccardo Merlini, The ZX6R is by far the fastest 600 of this generation, the last gen R1 (2014 and before) is by far the slowest 1000 sport(super) bike, the R1 was so slow and the ZX6R is so fast to the point where in a drag race there isn't much difference at all, the R1 will win but not by far. I have no idea how Kawasaki have managed to achieve this but the technology in the ZX6R is incredible to achieve the performance it has. Also I guarantee around a track the ZX6R will win.
+Klean Kut Konversions Well hes comparing it to his favorite bike, as most people do with vehicles. So the R6 is his peak and then goes down from there.
Klean Kut Konversions I'm starting to feel like he might be a bit of a Yamaha fan boy really..Could be wrong; maybe he just likes the way Yamaha does things. Also, just a side note, the zx6r is faster than the r6 according to 0to60times and the videos I've watched...
You obviously did zero research before you rode this bike and knew nothing about the power modes and traction control or rhe slipper clutch. Very poor review/ride. If you watch any online reviews about this bike vs the honda 600rr, yamaha r6, daytona 675r or the suzuki gsxr600 you will find 9 out of 10 riders put the zx6r on top each time. Yes this I know this video is just "your opinion" but at least go faster than 35mph and get out of 3rd gear before bagging something. And no I dont own one and no im not buying one. I just know this bike is one of the best middle class super sports around.
kitcho75 except this is a "first ride and review" which is a good indication that he has little to no background information about the bikes beforehand. so no, it is not a bad review. it is an honest review for someone riding a bike for the first time and knowing very little about it.
BuhLakeh Let me guess. You think if he had prepared for this as suggested by kitcho, he would still not know what the power modes are simply because it's his first ride? Somehow he would forget? Let me clue you in. First ride just means first RIDE not first HEAR as in first you heard about the bike. It means you have not had time to really get used to it and tell you what it's like to ride it. It means you have not had time to take it all in as for RIDING it. It means, don't expect much from his feedback about RIDING it. It however has NOTHING to do with knowledge of the bike itself. A person who has never ridden it could give way more info than he did. It's not like it's a Ninja H2 the day they announced it with no time to study specs. This bike is from 2013. I did a review years ago that have all the specs so you don't even have to read about it.
Chase is a yamaha rider. Almost every bike he's owned has been a yamaha. If you expect him to be a guru or know the ins and outs of a brand he's never owned, even with ten minutes of research, then you're assuming he had a lot more free time to just to learn all the tech specs for a brand he doesn't plan on owning. I've never owned a kawasaki, and every brand (yes even brands with riding modes) all label them differently, change them differently, and have different dash set ups. Just because you think it's common sense for wht abbreviations on a dash state, it's not common knowledge for.someone that's not used to riding without prior knowledge of how that brand designated them on the dash. Jesus christ you people are all just Butt hurt because he doesn't like the ninja. It's personal preference for Christ's sake.
BuhLakeh When I did my review of this bike, I was not and am still not a guru of it but I at LEAST knew the basics. Power modes would be one of them. Before I test any bike I always read up the power and TRC modes. There is a lot more advanced stuff to know, so this is basics. If you don't even know that, then you basically did no research. You don't even have to know how to use the modes...just at LEAST know what they do! Your argument has no logic at all though. I hate harley bikes but I bet you if I tested one, I'd know more about it than he did about this bike. You don't have to have ANY experience with a brand to spend a few minutes reading about it.
The 636 doesn't look like the 300, the 300 was designed to look like the 636. It's the reason why the 300s look so sporty for a quarter liter class bike. Also how can you say it doesn't feel powerful when you haven't pushed it even slightly? And changing KRTC modes will not be noticeable until you loose traction
As for the power modes F and L, F is Full, L is low, and if you put it in L the bike is limited to 80% of the power but ONLY ABOVE 8K rpm. That's pretty much why you didn't feel a thing. KTRC is the traction control, 3 is the most restrictive and you can also turn it off completely. I'm really glad I got this bike after the 300, mostly because I'm not a professional rider whatsoever so the smooth power band does help me get used to the power. Then again, if you want something wilder, get a full system plus a Dyno tune, I'm pretty sure the dyno guys can give it a little more aggressive mapping :) The looks are a personal thing, I for one love how it looks, it's nothing wild but it's beautiful imo :) Thanks for the review Chase!
Gázser Márk dude i thought he was at full mode from the start, and he switched to L mode at 10:00 .....and he said, it did not feel like 600cc bike or something like that...or mybe he did not feel it, because he only rode at low rpm.. if i wrong, please correct me okay :D
puro1231 Yep, you are right, he didn't feel anything because he didn't go over 8-9k rpm, and the significance of the L and F modes lays in the top half of the rev range :)
+Mahboob Islam I love it, I would say I am taller than the average rider and it is very comfortable though when I am riding the seat does feel very big, you have lots of room to move your body Into a very aggressive position. Really the only way to know if it is the right choice is to go and test ride it.. Wouldn't really trust what anyone says online, but saying that it is the only 600 with abs and traction control... everyone also says it has a much better mid range power band... So really I don't think there is another choice , and would say if your not happy with a 636 get a 1000.. It may have even been chase that said the low power setting on a zx10 feels like a 636
+Yassin Bennis if you are a confident dirt bike rider then I'm you should be perfectly fine, just a confidence thing, start slow on the 636 and when you get moving you won't have an issue Just be easy on the throttle when you take off to not lift the front wheel in first The 636 is super safe with ktracs and abs... You also have low power mode but I ride this thing in full power all the time and in wet wether you can open up the throttle full in first gear and the wheel does not spin unless you turn ktrac off
+Yassin Bennis my bro, its a perfect bike for your first.. This guy dont know nothing.. Hes saying it feels like a 300? Either he lost his feelings or just lost in general .. Go for it im buying this for my first

Ok so I owned the 2013 636 for 4 years. Ive ridden over 40, 000km on it now, taken to the track on multiple occasions and ridden on a thousand sunday rides with litre bikes - this bike has been brilliant. The review is a joke. Im finally upgrading to a ZX10R but cannot praise this bike enough. Im not actually even going to sell it. This will now be my track only bike. Quick run down Blows all other 600s out the water(ive ridden them all) Destroys all in corners Great as a every day rider Beautiful engine and if you replace with a full system exhaust its such a pleasure to ride. Simple and effective traction control (saved me on multilple occasions) Best bike I have ever owned
I was thinking of getting one as my first bike, what do u think? I heard it was probably the best everyday 600cc super sport. I havent done too much research tho so i could be wrong lol
In case you didn't know: F stands for Full mode and L stands for Low mode. In full power mode, you’ll have a higher horsepower and Torque, meaning you have more power to go faster and quicker. Now the low power mode, you will have a low horsepower and torque total which is the setting you’d use riding in the city to have a better gas mileage. The numbers are the traction control, obviously the lowest number means that you have the lowest traction and 3 being the highest means you have the highest traction, which is where you want to be if caught during inclement weather.
I was waiting long time for this review from you, and i got what i expected. I rode `09 R6 and remember it as "aggressive as hell bike".In my opinion, high body position, sketchy leaning etc., lots of power, though. And it is still great bike. When i tried 2013 Zx6r 636 it was all about the smoothness and i liked it. I guess that proofs one more time, that Yamaha and Kawi riders have different priorities. Thanks for review!
Well idk where you live, so I can't help you there. I'm just saying that no one watches a ZX6R or Hayabusa review just to see you doing the speed limit. And then talk about how other bikes "feel faster"...
Agreed.. But also its not his bike, someone is going to buy that one, u know what I mean? Prob just respecting the owners of the dealer and future owner of the bike.
I think what you're talking about is the concept of the riding position. With the R6, especially pre 09, you sit on top of the bike. The idea being that it gives you a higher center of gravity, allowing the bike to toss from side to side better. The Suzuki and Kawasaki the rider sits as more of a part of the bike, which gives you a greater sense of being a part of the bike for lack of a better description. It gives you more confidence and makes things smoother and easier. To me, it feels like you are one with the bike rather than having making the bike work for you... if that makes sense.
That is a bigger 300? Are you serious? You think a race bike is nothing more than a larger standard bike? So you don't feel any of that race suspension, brakes and ergonomics?
1 word "POSER". XD Coming from this guy that doesn't even know how to put back his own engine bolts....lmao. this guy has no business making this type of review. Moslty about the appearance is what's more important to him. Typical yami fanboy.
I own a 2013 636 so I am probably biased but I think you were pretty unfair to the bike in the limited amount of testing you did on it. Believe me, the 636 has nothing (and I do mean NOTHING) in common with the Ninja 300. It is widely regarded as the best supersport on the market right now and definitely has more power than any of the other 600's while being pretty close to the lightest. No supersport is going to wow you at 5k rpm but you get it past 8k and there is significant power all the way to the 16k rpm redline. Ergonomically, the 636 is the most comfortable bike in its class to my rear end, though you are right about the mirrors, which are too small and angular to be of much use. Would've really loved to see you actually open her up and really test the bike on a curvy mountain road rather than just putting around in traffic but I know you are limited in what you can do with a dealership bike. Thanks for the vid!
Oh, ChaseOnTwoWheels, I also wanted to tell you about the tank. The 636 is set up to be pretty much stunt ready from the show floor. The tank being shaped like it it provides people with the place to stand or sit and stunt instead of having to dent in the gas tanks of their brand new bikes
I really like your videos Chase but I was shocked when I saw this one. I went from a Ninja 300 to the ZX6R and they are completely different animals. The ZX feels about 10 times faster and about 5 times more stable. The 300 is great and looks cool but it is not a true sports bike riding position and performance wise. The ZX6R simply put is amazing and worthy of the price. Also the riding position is quite different. As you compare this to a 'big 300' it concerns me people may think this is a starter bike.. please don't. If you sneeze on this bike while on the freeway you will be accidentally doing triple digits.
We all know the sports bikes can go stupid fast! I'm interested in their practicalities for riding in traffic - slow, and stop start, and mid range etc. Thanks for the good review
Did you start on a 636 if so would you recommend? I've been riding dirt bikes all my life and really don't want to start on a 250 or 300 I'm also very responsible.
Paintballdude516 No I started riding dirtbikes when i was younger. but my first bike I took on the street was a 250 dual sport. then I had a ninja 650r before my 636.
ZX6R owner here. The slow feel is the gearing. Its the bikes biggest weakness. The gearing is really tall and close together. Great for the track, not so great for the road. You can lower the gearing and then its a beast but then 6th is short meaning its wound up on the highway. Biggest thing Kawasaki could do to make it more fun on the street is a wider gear spread with lower low gears and the same 6th.
After watching this, it seems to me like the 636 would be best for anyone who insists on starting with a 600. Since it seems like a tame bike compared to the rest.
I just bought this bike yesterday, upgraded from the 300. It is very tame but the low end power is so unique. 6 gear @ 3500 revs and a little pull of the throttle and it gooooes. but it isn't comfy to say the least lol. I sat on an R6 and a CBR600rr and those were perfect for comfort. The GSXR was nice too. but for looks and power, I think the ninja 636 is still a competitor despite its similarities to the 300.
Smart man. This "review" was horrible. He didn't tear into it at all. He hit what 35 mph in third gear? Shit by the time I shift into second I'm at 50-55. This bike flies.
Thank you Chase, I appreciate your comments on the bike! I know I probably wasn't the only one to ask you to ride a ZX-6R but I felt like the video was directed in my direction because I had asked. So again thank you so much!
I have this bike and an R6, and this bike is better at corners, it's more nimble, and it's engine and clutch are smoother, and the riding position is more comfortable to me. The R6's riding position is so sporty that it gives me back aches.
Remember, this ZX6R built for street. Hence they put extra 37cc over the 599cc with a bit high clip on. But still this bike did better than other 600cc supersport in performance. I really want you to revisit this bike with a latest year model. I know there is something you didn't discover on this bike. I can ignore your opinion about the exhaust sound and mirror because that stuff can be replace.
***** But you replied to Seth Martin on his comment about the CBR600RR being the only Japanese 600 Chase hasn't ridden saying that the CBR650F is the newest, implying that the 650 replaces the 600.
I owned a 06 zx6r "636" believe me they're fast as fuck. This guy was scared to open the throttle.I remember street racing a yellow 04 mustang cobra, it was the first time I reached 165mph and that's because I let off "smoked him"obviously but it had more in it I could tell.Just an f.y.I. for anyone thinking about buying one YES buy one you won't regret it.
ya this guy sucks at the review. I bought a 2015 ZX6R 636 and my first bike was a ninja 300 the difference is night and day in power. this guy is terrible at reviews. this bike has so much more power than what he was doing, he didn't even get on the throttle.
+Jesus Estrada I don't know where this guy is getting off at... I own the '14 636 stock with only a slip on... You can get into trouble very very quickly on this motorcycle. The only thing I can think of is that he's in rain mode and doesn't know how to work the electronics. These bikes can be and are scary...
So nice! I still have my lowbie Ninja but in the next 6 months to a year when my 370z is paid off, I plan to pick one of these up. I may be a bit biased since green is my favorite color:) I of course will check all the bikes out there before I jump up to a 600 but for now, my heart is set on a zx6r!
Not a very good review of this bike... I don't own it, but have rider all 600cc sport bikes. This one was in the top 2 for me, next to the CBR600.. There is a lot of detail and actual technical knowledge the review lacks! I feel that chase has to read up on this bike a bit more and exploit more of what it has to offer!
+Kaha K Dont like the way your comment started where you said basicly his opinion wasnt good but then follows it up by saying your is. BUT you recovered very nicely after that.
The smooth downshift is because of the slipper clutch, the "flippibility" is down to the arc of the tyre and the angle of the forks. You won't feel any difference with KTRC unless you're pushing the limits of the grip on the tyres.
I feel if your going to do reviews you should learn to be a little more objective about the bikes your reviewing. Also- Quoteing the 'bike feels like a 300'? I beg to differ. I am sure Kawasaki's engineers do too.
i hope chase knows that he was changing the traction control modes... not the power. hence, KTRC " kawi traction control" but this is soon to be my bike and i respect the honest review. good vid man!
The Kawasaki Ninja 650 2012-now needs to be a #C2WFR. It is so much better than the 636 for on the street and highway. The 636 is more meant to be track/race/stunt bike hence the flickablity and turning.
I have a 05 636 and I like it better than the new ones because I tried it. A lot of things you did point out correctly but dude u need to hit higher rpms for u to really test it..it has more midrange power..like your vids tho so keep posting and ride safe.
I find my 2009 zx6r granted its not the newer 2013 636. Mine really really kicks in at 14000 - 16000 rpm its kinda un predictable when hard on the throttle from 0. Its good and bad I guess. I still need to get used to it. But yeah its really ready to pull you in the rev range. But below that it is very docile. So I see where your coming from.
I know I'm late to the game but man these kawasaki sport bikes are REALLY tuned to be used on the street apparently, yet they're also really tunable and have potential for the crazy riders. I've been shying away from sportier bikes because of the sheer performance aspect (I'm not a great rider and I live in a congested area) but I'm now in the market for a ninja
Bad review by a Yamaha fanboy really 636cc and 599cc. Maybe it was the traction control that he could not figure out. I would like to see a R6, 636 and a Triumph 679 shoot out.
I own a 300 and I rode this exact same bike yesterday and it feels NOTHING like my 300! I'm going to purchase this bike in the 2013. It was like riding on air compared to my 300.
I really like everything about the new 636... however I'm waiting to see how the CBR600RR evolves.. that ZX10R though.... oh..... pants just got tight...
How about the low grunt? the 03-04 is know for their low end power. Hence the stunt community choosing it... The bike looked restricted for some reason. You can tell what you mean about lacking power. :/
It has great low end power and will go in any gear around 2500 and up. it's a smooth ride. it gets up when you hit around 12k IMO. when you turn the power mode on F and the KTRC off, its quicker. but all in all it's fast man.
stick with the kawasaki i'd rather see that After I did the first ride and review of the Yamaha "everything" I don't think yamaha will ever top that bike!
Current rider of a 636 and first time rider. You're right man it's a good bike you can start learning on but those mirrors do NO justice to the rider. Plan on a MOD to switch those out. Great video!
just the OCD in me wants to change the titles of your videos to first impressions not review! because you cant review something after a half hour ride. but you can name your videos whatever you want just saying
I will tell you exactly how if fairs in a drag race and a mountain road race my buddy is 50 pounds lighter then me and was on a 2014 r6 with a power commander and a two brothers exhaust mine was completely stock and I promise you when I say it wasn't a race it was like I was on a liter bike and he was on a scooter I ran a 10.05 in a quarter mile and the r6 couldn't beat 12 we both do track days he has been riding for 5 years and has a r1 and I have been riding for about a year and yeah I waxed him
+John Hatchell hi john. im looking into buying a 636 2016 im really torn 2 which 600 to buy! i love the style and the green to the ninja. . im 6.foot 3 too. . is the 636 the fastest of the 600s?
+Pete Wolstencroft the R6 is a 4 cylinder 600cc . the 636 is a 3 cylinder 636cc . im 5.8 and on my tiptoes on the R6 and nearrer to flatfooting the 636 . if i were buying id go with 636
+Klean Kut Konversions. i sat on a 636 last week! im flat footed on it with ease! being 6.3 i have heard the r6 is a slightly bigger bike! but 4 me the 636 is the best of 600 ccs! looks amazing and in green! the cbr would be my 2nd choice. .i hate the dated dash! the r6 is all top end! while the 636 and cbr have the lower mid range punch! the gigser comes in 3rd for me. .and the r6 last! i wouldnt buy a 600 gigser! the 750 yes! what ive heard though, the 636 and the 750 are very simular! of course the 750 has more power and torque. .its not massively noticeable up to 150 160 mph . .thats quite fast enougth 4 me! .:-)
I've seen a lot of your videos, there all cool. But you were way to biased in this video, like you didn't even rev it at the usual spot. Not cool chase..
@chaseontwowheels a re-review would be so nice. Used 2013 to 2016 ZX6Rs are the only bikes that old with traction control and ABS, and they cost around $4000 US compared to more expensive R6s with less technology from that time. A comparison would be awesome
Great review chase. Ive test ridden both the 2013 636 and the 600rr both are pretty similar with a big mid range and linear power curve. They also have a lower seat height and raised clip ons to make them more comfortable on the streets
***** the reason the tank is flat and the odd geometry in general is because it's geared towards the stunter market. Flat tank is so you can sit on it for highchairs etc.
call me crazy but i got to see this bike and the zx-10r up close (the newer ones) and the similarities to the smaller ninjas don't end there, to be honest they look very low quality, they feel like they have the same quality controls from the ninja 250 and 300 bikes, and the plastic looks cheaper than usual, the r6 for example looks MUCH tighter and better built.
