Touch Me Sama A lot of people were saying this is an old European song. It is true that the lyrics are based on a biblical verse and a Renaissance hymn, but this song was composed by Kayo Konishi & Yukio Kondo for the anime.
That was intentional, there's a few songs in choir that needed a lone singer to add a certain element to the song. In my opinion, it was good. He nailed it even. It's not easy singing while other people sing and still made your voice noticable
When I heard that I was like: "Excuse me? Whose Nokia? Surrender." :D Good that it ringed before the singing. I can imagine myself with a murderous gaze if something like that would happen during the singing...XD This cover is so beautiful and touching
@@psychogamin Thank you my frind, i think this Manga is worth to add to my personal collection :) never tought of it :3 can you tell me how many elfenlied mangabooks exsist? cos i will order them all asap X0
Probably not. They are 18+ so Zelensky regime throwed them on the frontlines. Unless they were able to escape the country, but with recent news from EU that are about to extradict man older than 18+ back to Ukraine... Idk
@@surgeon9039 oh yeah, tell me more about that evil Zelensky please, tell me how he decided to attack russia, that small country to the east of Ukraine, PLEASE! your opinion is so mature and wise
@@CyxapbSht Tell me how US and UK did not made a bloody coup, tell me how US and UK did not put their puppet government in Ukraine. Tell me how US did not made an illegitimate elections 2 month before legal ones and not including southeren region votes because people there were voting against Poroshenko. Tell me how US puppet gov. did not commit genocide of Eastern Ukrainians and killing 15.000 of those. Tell me how US did not radicalize Ukraine to the point of creating a neo-nazi batallions with thousands of members. Tell me how ZELENSKY did not gave and EASIEST CASUS BELLI for Russia saying they will start making nuclear weapons and will use it against Russia. What US did when they imagined that Iraq got hypothetical nuclear facilities to enrich uranium and probably creatin nuclear weapons which US military proved is not true? Yep, they attacked Iraq. But Ukraine actually have nuclear facilities and post-soviet knowledge of how to create nukes. So yes, Zelensky is evil and brainwashed braindead libtards will not prove otherwise.
@@surgeon9039 I'm 20 years old and have been in Ukraine during the whole war and nor me, nor any of my friends have been conscripted. Stop listening to russtards about what's going on in a country they think killed a billion donbabweans since 2014.
I’m a native Russian language speaker and the funniest thing is that the lady in the beginning introduces the song as the “traditional Japanese” song lmao Edit: Guys, thanks for the likes 🖤 and please let’s not fight and love each other.
@@samuelbarham8483 They just treat everything foreign(thanks for TV) and Japanese in particular poorly. The power of propaganda. This is from the Soviet times(sorry for my perfect English)
Likely the kids were given a shorter amount of songs and only had to memorize a couple, while the group behind them in suits had at least 5 or more and focused on memorizing their individual ones first/only had time to learn this one late. Different levels, different work loads.
@@raspberry8865 it seems they recruited the older bass and tenors for this performance. I saw their rehearsal and they had teenagers for those parts. Maybe they recruited them 2 weeks before the performance?
@@sweatyfri Same, I watched it the first time when I was nine because I found this song on youtube and it was so beautiful so I wanted to know where it comes from. At the beginning of the anime I was very afraid of what was going on but soon I found symphaty for Lucy/Kaede/Nyuu and started to enjoy it. It was my favorite anime since than and still is. It's so beautifuly sad.
I love this song... and this arrangement (and various performances) is absolutely superb. Nicely done. I can feel the tragedy of the story through this resonating performance. As for the song origin... just to set the record straight, "Lilium" recording for the anime was performed by opera singer Kumiko Noma, and sung in Latin and Greek. Songwriters Kayo Konishi and Yukio Kondo say that they extracted their lyrics from Christian biblical passages: notably the Book of Psalms, the Epistle of James, and the Kyrie prayer. Kondo also references the hymn "Ave mundi spes Maria," the latter of which there is a noted performance by Ms Noma. Incidentally, the song "Elfenlied" is in the manga, and credited to the composer Hugo Wolf. Moreover, Wolf references a poem written by Eduard Morike. This song is taught to Nyu by Nozomi, a character that only appears in the manga version of the story. I highly recommend the manga - but you must have a strong heart to read it.
I watched the anime back in 2016. It's be over 7 years but I still get that feeling of extreme sadness when I remember the anime. I don't remember the names of characters , not even the storyline. But that heartbreaking heartwrenching feeling that I got from this anime has been always with me...
@@DeanWinchester12345 Totally can relate. Nearly had the same experience. Watched the Anime as one of my first Animes, when i was probably a bit to young to process it properly. All that remains today is a nostalgic echo of deep emotions that linger. A feeling really similar as trying to remember my first love, or a childhood fiend i had a falling out with... But it totally sparked my love for Anime and Manga.
I just wanted to say that this is amazing!! I’m in a choir, and while I’d love if we sounded like this, it takes A LOT of talent & practice from every single member. And the conductor is doing an awesome job!
I do too...I understand that feeling It's quite scary to think of all of the lives that had such beauty in their arts probably be stolen by unnecessary mid life crisis wars
Russians doing some of the most memorable music in anime history. Perfectly balanced. Edit: Learned their Ukrainian. Still perfect and I'm American. Don't know Ukrainian or Russian.
Ugh! Actually russians and ukraines have different:/ It's like americane and britan this one nation (sorry,I don't speak in english and I don't use google translate)
My brother first showed me Elfen Lied back in 2004-2005. Downloaded form limewire, first 4 episodes. It left a lasting impact on me. He passed away late 2021 and I recently watched the entirety of the show with my significant other, It made me very happy to experience it with her also very sad. I love my brother. May he rest in peace.
@@sunderland69 but is also in latin so unless you understand the meaning the words are very disconnected and meaningless, making the lyrics a lot harder to remember
@Elise Ferro he say says I think the guy without the opening lyrics book on the far left heard the opening 300 times and that's why he doesn't use the book
I love how movies, anime, and video games have become such huge cultures in and of themselves that choirs and orchestras now perform their music in lovingly endearing melodies
Even though it has been almost 10 years since I watched Elfen Lied, Lilium is still a melody I hum very often. It's just such an amazing melody, and the recreation here is superb
It’s so sad to now know the country is in a state of war. These people may no long exist, the building may no longer exist, the memories may no longer exist
Ah, I remember watching the anime when I was 7 years old... as a german, this title was quite misleading to me when I was a child. I mean, a series with the meaning "fairy song" can only be cute, right? Haha, yeah. No.
I know that feel I watched nine years for the first time and I was eleven at the time granted I new what I liked at the time which at the time was science fiction and horror which to some extent still is
Reminded me of the time I was 15 years old, discovered Elfenlied and was brought back to anime...that was a pretty long time ago and good aswell as bad happend but some things never change like my love for this song ^^
The piano adds a more "filling air" to their performance 10 years ago, which did not have the piano before. I must say, everytime that the whole choir sings together, it is something magical and beyond elegant~ 💝💝
